  1. Thanks to OPs for replies. I can remember filling up with 101 octane as I bought my Vit in 1974 -this weekend celebrates 45 years behind the wheel More recently, I have been using BP Super , Sainsbury Super ( said to be supplied by BP ) and Tesco Momentum ( claimed 98 octane) . As I mentioned, I filled up with Shell Super by chance and found that it improved the running on issue. Then next time I reverted to BP Super and the problem returned so I have filled up with Shell Super again. There seems to be a lot of mystery about petrol - who supplies what petrol and extent of ethanol dilution .The recent Courier article recommended Esso Super but this seems to be unobtainable around here ( Derbyshire ). I'm going to start using Millers VSPe to increase the octane rating.
  2. Quite by chance, I filled up with Shell Super and found that there was no running on when the ignition was turned off, as experienced with other makes. Car is Vit 2 - no mods. Has anybody had similar experience?.
  3. Further matters arising Re Millers VSPe , I have been told by Millers that they only supply in 250 and 500ml bottles- nothing larger. The best price is on Ebay - unless you know different! Could be sold in the Club Shop?
  4. Thanks to all the op's for the very helpful lcomments.. Matters arising: I agree the whole ethanol thing seems senseless when the world is short of food but I suppose that's off topic ( sort of). Following the Courier item, and the recommendation to use Esso Super I have found that the local Esso stations have stopped selling Super- that's North Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Even if you don't drive your Club car much , there is still ethanol stuff in the tank and fuel system . The Vits and GT6 s engines are specified to run on 101 Octane ( Oh Happy Days) so need an octane boost. Incidentally, I found a garage in Germany two years ago which sold 100 octane - to my amazement!
  5. An item in a recent Courier mentioned that ethanol free petrol is now virtually unobtainable now, as BP Ultimate etc now contain 5% ethanol. I have been using Valvemaster Plus in my Vitesse 2 , but this does not combat the ethanol problem. It looks as though Miller VSPe Power Plus is the answer ,,as this deals with ethanol, but this is not cheap What's in your tank?
  6. I wonder if it would be possible to have separate sections on the forum for each model within TSSC eg Vitesse, Acclaim etc. I think this was so on the old forum, but perhaps there is some reason why this feature is no longer available?
  7. Does anybody know if the Triomatic gearbox has a filter? The workshop manual has a filter listed, but there is known shown on the exploded parts diagram. Thanks for help.
  8. I want to replace the original Triumph radio since it only has L and M wavelengths, with something with FM. Would prefer new Kenwood etc - not fussed about cd or cassette player. The radio slot on the Acclaim seems narrow compared to later cars . Can anyone suggest a modern radio or let me know the slot size - is this a DIN size. Thanks for help
  9. Sunday Times 30/8/15. Famous thriller writer Frederick Forsyth tells of his adventures in East Germany in 1973 delivering and collecting packages , contents unknown, to a Russian Colonel in a toilet near Dresden on behalf of S.I.S. The package is concealed in the battery tray of his Vitesse Convertible. Wow! I'm checking my Vit to ascertain its provenance! Which car was involved. I think we should be told. When I travelled to East Germany after reunification in my Vit, I found the roads to be still appalling - I'm surprised that isn't mentioned in the article.
