    Haze in the cabin

If anyone is concerned about exhaust fumes, in particular carbon monoxide, these are available. http://www.transair.co.uk/sp+Carbon-Monoxide-Detector+4726 Carbon monoxide is colourless, odourless and tasteless but will be wrapped up in the other exhaust gas odours. Our noses are good at detecting a change of odour but not so good when it's gradual. Therein lies the problem. Regards, Mick

    Loctite

Aidan, Pete's got to the bottom of your problem but if you need advice on any Loctite product for a particular application then you can always call Loctite direct. I found their technical helpline very informative. http://www.loctite.co.uk/contact-services-5956.htm Mick
  3. Ian, I recently bought a battery from Tanya batteries with a 5 year guarantee. They were cheaper than Euro Car Parts and Costco. Tracked delivery was only £7.98 including the dreaded. Considering some of our illustrious suppliers can charge nearly a fiver to post a washer I thought that was a fair charge. https://www.tayna.co.uk/Car-Batteries-C48.html You do have to satisfy yourself you've ordered the correct battery. I did notice in the "what other customers have previously fitted" section that somebody has put an 015 into their Triumph Spitfire 1500 Diesel. It may exist. Regards, Mick
  4. But not in the same league of dumbness as doing it over a drain. Mick
  5. Dave, One end of the pin has a taper, although I don't know if the taper then continues slightly or the rest of the pin is straight. I've always put them in taper first and removed them by pressing on the taper so I never really found out if they go in either way. Although you have probably tried from both ends this might be an idea. One thing I can recommend is not to change them on a gravel driveway, but I still don't learn. Regards, Mick
  6. Wayne, I don't have the correct torque figure for that particular bolt and nor do I have a Rolls Royce but I tend to use this link below if the workshop manual does not give a specific torque figure. http://rroc.org.au/technical/P_Torque_Tightening_Specifications-5098.pdf I know I shouldn't be too far out for general tightening. Regards, Mick
  7. Doug, Thanks for the email. Looks like it didn't give up without a struggle but at least it now knows who's boss. I was going to say it should be all downhill from here, but that suggests things will get worse. Then I thought it must be uphill, but that means it will be even harder. Let's just say I hope it's going to be easier from now on. Regards, Mick
  8. Doug, The crows foot spanners are 0.375 inch deep. Might it might work with a 1/2 and full nut? What size is the nut? I've got all manner of spanners, some long, some short and might file one down provided it's not one of my favourite ones. I used to be a TSSC member and now don't have a Triumph so I've joined the Forum only. When I had my Triumph I occasionally visited the Thames meetings but that would be about 3 years ago. If you want me to lend a hand then I'll call the club and pass on my telephone number if they haven't got it already, then you can call them and get it. Regards, Mick
  9. Hello Doug, Would there be enough room to get a crows foot spanner on the lower nut? If so I have an Imperial 3/8 drive set. I'm in Sandhurst so not that far away and could bring them up. Regards, Mick
  10. Could it be the trip mileage reset cable on the speedometer? Regards, Mick

  12. Hi Laurie, In the past I've had a Spitfire overdrive gearbox and diff overhauled by Hardy Engineering in Leatherhead, Surrey, but it depends where you are in South East England. https://www.hardyengineering.co.uk/. More recently in the past couple of months they've overhauled my Salisbury Limited Slip Diff axle. They know what they are doing and I would recommend them. Mick C
