  1. Hi Colin, Fitted mine upside down years ago. A127 type. Cheers, Iain.
  2. Hi, The ability to measure individual cells of a pack/battery is informative and necessary for some cell technologies. The life of the pack can be maximised. Not possible to change a cell with a car battery so why bother/worry that a weak cell is holding the other 5 back? On a fully charged battery the resting voltage will point to a problem if compared with the internal resistance. The internal resistance is a very useful metric. Easy to calculate & cheap to measure. Cheers, Iain.
  3. I'm sure I will get bored with it. I am using it at the moment as trying to increase the charging voltage a knats. The voltage trends are interesting. Shame the wireless range is only a few meters on this model. The cranking test has shown low voltage readings which is odd. Cheers, Iain.
  4. Hi, If you need diagnostics from the battery you can download 30 days of data. data points are every two minutes. Cheers, Iain. ACU77L _Dec 2023_Report (5).xls
  5. Hi, I would never waste a hole for a 52mm voltmeter. Instantaneous display of the battery voltage is intuitive, especially if the reading is digital. Analog would look nice if it was scaled better than the norm, something like 13.6 - 14.6 over 270 degrees? I have used a USB cigar plug-in adaptor with a voltage digital display of +/-100 mV. Display across the usable range is accurate and it is effectively connected to battery terminals as the current draw is <10mA. I have found a better device to use my phone wirelessly to display the actual battery voltage. The ability to export historical data is useful. SOC readings are as good as can be with voltage vs SOC measurements. Battery module costs around £10, BRB when I find a picture.
  6. HI, No,.grease will not be "non-conducive" in this application. Synthetic, mineral, vegetable or animal will have little influence. I do not recommend any of the "Conductive greases". Conductive grease is good for antistatic applications. I recommend AFC50 grease. Cheap OEM dielectric grease is also perfect for this application if no corrosion is present. Cheers, Iain
  7. Hi, My car utilises a non-standard length fan belt as my alternator is upside down. I have also fitted a turnbuckle for adjustment. My belt has been slipping for a while now. I need to replace it. The 10mm-3/8" wide belts are available in 25mm lengths or less increments. I have compiled a list from the Gates(r) website. All seem to be available online from Amazon etc. Hopefully, somebody else will find it useful. Cheers, Iain. gates belts.pdf
  8. Near the Alternator or lights. Fused off the alternator to protect that cable only to the relay(s). If they are halogen you will have the brightest light and shortest life of the lamps.
  9. I wish I knew of a supplier of quality 2 & 3-pin bulb holders. I have binned loads of single & dual pin holders over the years. Getting low. Cheers, Iain.
  10. Filling close to the brim will always lose more coolant than required I have found. The tank needs to be very wide. Glad I found the cylinder type. Cheers, Iain.
  11. Hi, I assumed 6L and 5% expansion. Needed over 300mL of space above the highest level in the tank. Found the tank in scrap at work. It was off an EV. Somebody must have wanted to bling the truck. Was easy to fit, unlike the plastic ones I had bought. The highest level in the system is the tank 1/2 full. Air bleed on top of the thermostat housing removes any air from the engine's highest point. Cheers, Iain.
  12. Greetings, belated reply. It's a Golf GTI mk1/2 radiator. <£40 new eBay. All alloy ones are available wider. Not worth the money. plastic and aluminium is cheap. ran for a year with only the hoses and two ruberised holes in the chassis. Cheers, Iain.
  13. I will tomorrow from work. Cheers, Iain.
  14. Hi, 027 gives more quality choices compared to 075. Cheers, Iain.
  15. Hi, Have fitted an expansion tank to my "GT6". No more air in the system as the coolant level above the thermostat housing. Never needs topping up as expansion space is more than enough with a 20PSI cap. the ali tank is wider than the height. Works 100% better than OEM overflow bottle as Air is never cycled into the coolant. Cheers, Iain.
  16. Hi, with the cheap cost of 3ph 230V inverters & the ability to simply move links to convert 3ph pedestal drills from 400v to 230V, I would not buy a single-phase unit. The motor would have to be sub 3.1kW of course. The ability to run the motor at nearly double the 50Hz speed also has advantages. Just do not forget that an inverter is NOT a gearbox. Cheers, Iain.
  17. Hi Ian, That's interesting what you say. I have always thought that if the cap fits & it requires force to fit, it will open at the stated pressure. If it fits, the spring is never coil-bound and will therefore move if pressure is reached. I have always assumed the spring rate on a rad cap is linear & therefore its rate is not affected by the load that is put on the spring. Cheers, Iain.
  18. Hi, How much fuel are you getting into your engine oil? Cheers, Iain.
  19. Hi, For a little more money, you can pick up a far better quality oil for £27 from Euro Car Parts: TRIPLE QX Fully Syn Engine Oil 5W-40 A3/B4 - 5Ltr. Cheers, Iain
  20. Hi, Our American friends fit Air shocks to raise the height. Fully adjustable & from Amazon. Cheers, Iain.
