  1. If they had put 2.5 engines in MK 1 Vitesses there would have been a lot more diff and driveshaft issues, as I experienced on mine when a rear wheel and hub flew of in Cornwall. S
  2. I had one made when I converted my MK 1 Vitesse 2L non O/D to 2.5 with Saloon box + O/D. Smaller diameter tube but larger 100mm flanges. Excellent service from Bailey Morris in Feltham. I still have the original if the OP wants it. Steve
  3. Never realised such a comparatively small number of convertibles were made. S
  4. Aren`t MK 3`s supposed to be liveliest of the range?. I had an FH 1300 engine in my Herald for a while with twin HS4 carbs and a 4 into 1 manifold and Vitesse exhaust, coupled with a 3:63 diff and single rail O/D gearbox it was a great drive. As Pete said just throwing carbs at it often ends up with more grief for no gain. I would start by getting the best out of what you have by a proper tune up first. Surprising how much can be gained by a decent tune up. Steve
  5. Very oily around the diff! (I know its the Triumph anti corrosion system). S

As a side issue to do with the shop, I needed 3m of Gates hose for my Vitesse, I ordered 6 x 1/2 metre as stated on the shop site, I got 6 x 1/2 metre lengths which is of absolutely no use to me, I`m sure I bought more than 1/2 metres before, and it cost £12 for postage, not overly impressed. S
  7. I work in hotels around the West End, a while ago they had the previews for the last bond film, including the Aston with mock scuffs along the side. Later films not my cup of tea, haven`t watched any since Sean Connery or Roger Moore. S
  8. That`s a boat isn`t it?. S
  9. I fitted an after market "upgraded " master cylinder to my 13/60, it made it much worse needing more leg. Now fitted an original Vitesse cylinder and 4 pot callipers which is a 100% improvement on the type 14`s. S
  10. Not so much that for me, although I do drive with no shoes on or slip on beach shoes, I find the proximity of the throttle to the brake pedal worse. Maybe it`s just my size 12`s. No servo on my 2.5 Vitesse and with properly working and setup brakes, with Mintex 1144 pads I find the brakes pretty good. S
  11. It may be the Saloon version, not sure, never owned one. The end bit can be modified though. S
  12. Spotted this one on The Bay today: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296190396411 Steve
  13. Do you need the metal work or just the visors?. S
  14. Stoneleigh spares day in a couple of weeks, not too far from you so maybe worth a look. What colour do you want?. Steve
  15. Any visible difference on the gasket from the old one Pete?, who supplied it?. I have an unused Payen in my garage from a good few years ago if you would like to compare. Steve
  16. Nice looking Herald, they really are fun, this is mine and welcome to the club. Steve

I think if you start all that in your cabin it will be "away anchor" or something close to that. S
  18. They should have a chamfer on one side to allow them to seat, so yes they do have a right way round. S

Who decides who`s turn it is in the barrel? S
  20. You probably already checked but DVLA says last logbook issued in 2001. And it says it is Green not Royal Blue. Steve
  21. I would just take the cap and pushrod off, spray it with your lubricant of choice and leave for an hour, and then whack the piston with a suitable drift, it`s probably knackered but may work. Boiling water on it may aid movement before you whack it. S

You can`t have 2 different needles as the mixture will be affected between the 2 banks of cylinders. S
  23. Nuala was a well known Triumphero who passed away last year, some people on facebook have had messages from her hacked account trying to push some financial scam or other.Luckily I am not on any Social media. It`s a warning to avoid the messages. S
  24. Ditto that Colin, I have accumulated various, mostly tuning parts that will never be used on my cars, such as triple Webers and 2 manifolds, ported and flowed 1300 head along with a TLD 244 R cam. Vitesse roll bar, also an early MK2 PI engine, god knows why i bought them. Other than CV converting my Herald its just maintenance from now on. (unless I spot a must have on e bay). Steve
  25. i`m not a bodywork person but enjoy mucking about with engines. Thrusts could be inspected without having the engine out and the oil light could just be rubbish or tired oil, dodgy sender, PRV, (you said gauge in your post, does it have one?). I think if it`s as you want with paint and body it`s worth a punt. Not at 12K though. BTW I spent north of 6K on a tuned 1500 engine with roller rockers, head/cam work etc a couple of years ago, but that was with the builder doing everything including putting it in the car, rolling road tune up and putting 600 miles on it.
