  1. Hi. I recently replaced the discs/pads/callipers on my 1977 Triumph Stag. Despite copious use of copper grease, after a while the pads have started squealing like nothing I've ever heard. To combat this I have ordered a new fitting kit (pins/clips) to replace the very tired items I had (I didn't realise the new pads would not come with a new fitting kit) and new anti-squeal shims. There were no anti-squeal shims present on the car when I took the brakes apart, how should they be fitted? I can see from the Haynes manual they go between the piston and pad but I'm not sure what the orientation is...will it be obvious when I come to do it? I would have waited to ask but I want the car to drive to Goodwood so need to get it sorted as quickly as I can. Thanks!
  2. Hi. Thanks for the reply. It certainly looks the same, and has the same connector on the end. I believe Mk1 stalks are quite different, with no intermittent setting. Sadly my old one is broken so I don't think testing it will help much. May have a look though.
  3. Hi. My wipers have never worked 100% on my Stag in that the intermittent settings was very...umm, intermittent. Sometimes it would work, other times not. In taking it off the car and trying to fix it I broke it (very silly of me) so have got a brand new replacement. The situation now is that: Off is off. Position 1 (speed 1) is slow speed Position 2 is off Intermittent (pull back on lever, it 'clicks' into place) is slow speed And the wipers do not 'park'. Are all the new ones like this? Have I bought the wrong part? My car is a RHD Mk2, and that's what I ordered. An indicator stalk I bought at the same time works fine. Any ideas? Thanks!
  4. Hi. it's been a while since I've been here, so hello again and thanks in advance. I've just got my Stag back after a body restoration. All is good, but I still have an issue it alwasy used to have, the drivers side tonnau cover pops open while driving. I have adjusted it and adjusted it and I can't get it to stop. It was so bad that starting the engine was usually enough to get it to pop. After spending ages adjusting it I've got it a bit better, and it now closes really easily, but you can't drive 100 meters without it coming open. Everything looks OK. The catch can't be opened by forcing it without the tonnaue in place, the catch *just* opens with the handle in the B post pulled right back so I don't think the cable is putting pressure on it. To be honest it's far better adjusted than the other side, but that works fine. Any idea's? If not I think I'm going to get a new tonnau cover latch and catch. The latch does look bent...so that the actual cylinder bit at the end isn't at right angles with the arm that holds it which looks a bit odd, but then so does the one on the other side so I'm not sure if that's correct?
