I reckon Truck Bed Liner paint would be ideal on a floor. The stuff is so tough, though I am unsure if it is available in small quantities.
EDIT. yep, you can buy a litre via ebay etc.

When it comes to removing the rust - I'll wire brush, clean up and then use Jenolite rust converter spray. Can I then use Jenolite rust shield? I wasn't planning on painting it as it's under the carpets.
Also - my gear shifter is tarnished (it's usually covered by a sleeve but I'll change that in future), any products you recommend to get rid of the rust on it and make it shiny again? Was thinking Autoglym super resin polish.
Check out www.rust.co.uk they offer a range of products together with lots of info about treating rust .

I sprayed my Vitesse with Celly last year and for what its worth this is what I did.
I made a timber frame/polythene booth inside my garage (Lucky to have a double but could be done in a single?)
I made it as small as possible - just big enough to hold the tub with space to spray it.
I bought a pair of spray booth filters and made a filter box to suck air through. This was connected to the booth via a Sealey air mover and hose. This positively pressurised the booth ensuring no dust/flies etc would get in through gaps and cracks. An exhaust was provided using a piece of plastic pipe to the driveway.
It worked very well as I had no problems with dust/flies etc.
Thanks Phil , this could work well for me . What was the spec for the Sealey air mover ?

Hi just waiting on delivery of a new SIP 100 litre Compressor after the 3 year old little used SGS one spewed oil everywhere . As a newbie to spraying now looking at air extraction to reduce imperfections like dust , flies etc . Any advice as to suitable equipment . I’m using a single garage to spray and can use existing windows to vent . Any advice welcome
Paul
Just realised I will have power issues as the compressor will be taking a lot of electricity , it’s a 3hp motor

When I bought my Vitesse the incorrect carbs had been fitted and the diff blew up within 3 miles . The previous owner had fitted a new differential but forgot to fill with oil 😱Welcome to classic car ownership . That was 5 years ago and learnt a lot since then and the most important lesson was to teach myself how to maintain and repair my Vitesse as garage costs are very high and no guarantee that the quality of workmanship is there as I’ve found to my cost . The forum will help you at every stage.

Thanks for the info about the exhaust, it's a shame as I don't want anything louder but love the look of the twin pipes.
I hadn't considered the authenticity aspect. Maybe not such a bright idea after all!
Save you some pennies . When I bought my Vitesse I had the same idea but was quickly and correctly dissuaded

Thanks all, I've got a torque spanner coming in the post today.
Drove down to Race LTD in Charlwood - absolutely amazing service there and they ran some tests. They confirmed it's the head gasket. Pointing out the engine mounts look quite worn too. It's booked in with them now for the end of the month for new mounts, head gasket replacement, new hoses and rad etc etc and a good cleanup and a lick of paint on the engine. Also getting a twin exhaust fitted. Was hard to stop really since my wife wasn't there telling me not to spend money!
You might think twice about twin exhaust . Might be a tad loud plus road clearance could be an issue .

Is there any reading material or books anyone could recommend that would help me learn about the mk2 or any general engine stuff that would be useful? I have long... long periods at work with not much happening so it would be great to use the time learning something I could use.
Apart from Haynes , second hand EBay is fine as it will get grubby . The AA Book of the Car is a great intro to how our classics work

When it’s MOT time find a suitable local garage as modern mot chains don’t understand our Triumphs . Your front wheel bearings are tapered and need a degree of play to operate . Tighten them up and they will seize . If you don’t have the gear layout on the gear knob leave a paper show the H box layout . My local garage lets me drive in and I stay with the car assisting the MOT guy doing what he says . He even invites me in the pit to see the underside .

This is the reply I got from Halfords . So you can buy an item and you’re not told it’s out of stock until you try and collect or it doesn’t turn up . Then you get no apology just can we try again . I think not

Dear Paul,
Thanks for confirming your contact details.Items will stay up on the website when we are due to get more stock. Items are only removed when it is discontinued. If you still want the item, I can take a look and see when the item will be returning? -
Didn’t @Gary Flinn suggest this wasn’t a NOS factory bonnet and could have been assembled with NOS panels which is not the same .

I have a sunroof on my Vitesse and don’t have a visor and ok without it . Visors do crop up on EBay and sell for approx £100 subject to condition . The visors normally will have scratches and pitting on the brackets . Visors are not made any more so prices will climb higher .

I spoke to Gower & Lee and they said there is nothing to clean inside. He said the problem with the pump not pumping is vapour lock as I have it mounted on the side of the engine where the mechanical pump used to be. I used isolators but it was obviously not good enough to stop it getting too hot after stopping. It seems the correct answer to my intermittent problem as it occurred after a fast run to Duxford and a slow run through London. On both occasions it was hot and didn't pump on restarting a few hours later.
So I'll have to resite before I go to Prescott. The bulkhead or side valance are the only options.

This is where I’ve fitted the Huco on my Vitesse

They're interesting but tend to bend upwards so the strip sits slightly off the bonnet. I'll see if they can be bent downwards but if not I'll replace with the more common versions.
How many clips for the centre strip . Asking for a friend 😁

Not sure of the correct terminology . Its the rivet clips securing the chrome trim for the Herald/Vitesse part
- GHF1461
They seem very expensive is there a workaround ?
