  1. Thats the problem. One thing is alright but as soon as you add another thats when things go pear shaped Hope all is good now.
  2. So does a car driven by a large strong person who can turn the wheel easily and quickly wear out steering components faster than a car driven by a weedy person?
  3. Today I made part of a tool. I have an AVO 8Mk3 multimeter that I use when I need to see a needle move rather than a row of numbers flash up and down. It has been a while since I last used it so today I checked the batteries and the 15 volt was dead. Had a look on the internet and they are available but expensive so like last time I decided to build one. I had 10 2016 1.5 volt lithium batteries but only needed 5. These are a bit skinny so needed to pack it out, to do this on my bench in front of me was the perfect spring and another hunt I found the perfect flat washer. Stack 5 batteries the spring and flat washer into a short length of heatshrink, keep them all sitting together snugly and shrink the heat shrink. End result one perfect size battery till I need to replace it in a few years time. Sorry no pics as I put it in the meter before I thought of sharing. Adrian
  4. I was up a mountain on the East Cape working for the BBC broadcasting to the world the first sunrise of the new millenium. Didnt happen due to rain etc so maybe we did implode!
  5. I still have 2 hours on you Peter.🕰️
  6. Hi Dave If you are looking for a dremel type tool then I have found most of the attachments are pretty interchangeable. I have 2 dremels and they swap tools with many of the generic ones. If you are looking for the highspeed blade type tool again I have found the blades are interchangeable. One tip is try not to buy blades that are too thick as they stress the tool and can cause it to wear out. I have Bosch but my dad has a generic make that is fine. Only battery tools I have are drills, I like mains voltage. Panasonic, Dewalt and Bosch Adrian
  7. Nothing wrong with an Enfield, they are making some great bikes these days Here is my bike during an adventure. Its current adventures are garage based where it has sat since I last rode in in January. I refuse to ride to work and at present do not have the mindset to ride in winter. Recent farkles are heated grips and TPMS.
  8. I will put my hand up and say 'My name is Adrian and I own an Adventure Motor Bike'
  9. 12. We all like farkles for our cars. Especially ones that have to be hunted out to be seen by those who know.
  10. Hi Stratton Jimmer Any news on the gauge? Adrian
  11. Got a set on my not yet on the road Vitesse 6. Just ordered a cars worth of standard wheel studs and nuts from Canleys. The originals will have been stressed a lot over the 56 years of the cars life so time to treat it again.
  12. I restaked mine with a centre punch on the edge of the recess, not taking any chances. Adrian
  13. Silly question but you have checked the level of coolant? Temp gauges do not always work when they are not in liquid. My Spitfire had that problem once I would stick the bulb in a boiling kettle to double check it. Adrian
  14. Good to see the panel gaps are Triumph correct.🤣 Adrian
  15. Thanks for that Pete. ine is the original cut Vitesse which means my o/d gearbox has been built up for the Vit/GT6. Adrian
  16. Hi Pete What is this 'rolled not machined' you mentioned? My 6 has a 1850 3 rail J type that was sold to me many years ago as built for a Vit/GT6 The drive plate I fitted seems to fit nicely, the car has still to be driven! Are there different plates for fitting 1850 g/boxes to Vit/GT6. Can always pull the gearbox for a look but that gets a bit boring Adrian
  17. My 65 6 is still in the shed being rebuilt as it has since I was 18 38 years ago. Lockdown last year was great as I worked on it every weekday and the funny thing is still reckon 6 weeks should see it ready. It was cactus green with a black flash but I was persistently nagged to make it red which was close to the Damson Herald body that gave its life so the Vitesse would once again be on the road. I have a Dolomite 1850 J type o/d, MGF seats, Mk4 Spitfire wheels, Megajolt, twin Mikuni HSR42, Mintex 1144 pads for the Type 12s, camber compensator to go in once it is back on the road. Last century I scrapped a Mk1 2 litre saloon and at the time one of the two in NZ Mk2 saloons. It was ripe having spent many years in a paddock by a river, its mechanicals went into my Mk4 Spitfire. Photos are my 6 Saloon and Mk2 CV with a few of the parts I have collected.
  18. Cousin of this one (gender fluid)
  19. You could just rub a 🐑 over the car😊 https://www.lanoguard.nz/ This is something I could do with on my daily as the road home sometimes gets a bit salty https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/raw-wellington-drivers-navigate-debris-waves-along-battered-coastal-road This is not a bad sea Adrian

    Decibel Meter

My dad was the boss of Lada in NZ last century. Some owners of the Niva complained of excess noise when driving the car. He took one to the DSIR (Government Science people) and they put a decibel meter through the car and found the most noise was the general area of a drivers head
  21. I would have thought those holes in the bonnet catch plate would be to allow for a lock to be added. Could it be for a Bond bonnet?
  22. I do wonder if a version of Dr Doolins tool could be made for the small chassis cars and if it would even be of any use. Thinking more about it due to the prop tunnel it is probably not a good idea. Adrian
  23. Have this problem with my dads vintage car, everytime it is the plugs fouling due to him starting the car and running it for a minute or two without driving it. Plugs swapped for dry clean ones and it starts fine. You sparkpugs could be failing under load of compression But I would replace the condenser Just ordered a sparkplug cleaner and a spark plug tester from Mr Bezos old company to have a play with.
