  1. I was working on a job in the 90's and the art dept guy decided to make a big bang at lunch time so was mixing some black powder in the back of his truck that was facing slightly downhill. This was ok but the tab he had in his mouth dropped hot ash into the blackpowder causing it to explode which fired bits of timber into the almost empty cans of avgas in the front of the truck which then caught fire. It was a bit messy and we all stopped work for the afternoon.
  2. i think the trick was to spray oil underneath then drive down a dusty road to seal it in place till next year. At least that's what they used to do in NZ where there was plenty of metal roads. You dad obviously didn't own a Triumph as we all know they do it automatically. Adrian
  3. Probably this https://www.tap-die.com/index.html Adrian
  4. Slightly off topic but did anyone scroll down to look at the other cars for sale. The German 1971 Mk2 Vitesse is after good money.
  5. If you get rid of the pound symbol and put in NZ dollar that is the same price my dads Mk1 2l convertible last sold for. It was sold by the owner who bought it from my dad a few years back, it has few of my parts on it! I know what mistakes I made on that car to not remake on my own🤥 Adrian
  6. Thats new to me! Thankfully they got rid of it for the Vitesse! Adrian
  7. Just curious as to how the wheel does not fit the car? Is it the wrong PCD? Adrian
  8. Looks to me like this is in need of nipple protection. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=grease+nipple+caps&crid=C5ARBHS3XL5O&sprefix=grease+nipple+caps%2Caps%2C473&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_18 Adrian
  9. How can you tell if your rotoflex couplings are metalastik or not? I have about 9 I bought late last century and have been stored in a dark place since but I do not know what brand they are? Adrian
  10. I remember those but thought they only fitted it to the front wheel drive Mitsi cars. .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Super_Shift_transmission Unimogs have a lot of gear levers. Adrian
  11. Refitted the reconditioned head to my Dads Vitesse 2 litre Convertible. Bolted all the ancillaries up. Filled the cooling system and heard then saw water at the back of the head. Head reconditioner had forgotten to refit the rear welsh plug. Took the head off to get it fitted. My dad still mentions that some 20+ years later. Adrian
  12. Does Weathershields ring a bell? Not to sure to be honest. I think it is stored in the roof of my parents garage. Adrian
  13. I have two sliding sun roofs. One is for a HC Viva and the other is from an Austin A35. When I bought the Viva one years before internet I wrote to whatever comapny it was and they kindly sent me an installation book. Never fitted either roof and still have the book. I did think about fitting one of them to the Vitesse but am slightly concerned about the difference in roof curvature, Adrian
  14. Nope. Those are the normal gears levers, I just read that underdrive comes off the PTO like the overdrive so its either under or over but not both. Either of the above would mean three gear levers. Adrian
  15. Land Rovers had an underdrive option, whether you could fit as well as the overdrive I do not know.
  16. This is a Timken Bearing Adrian
  17. I am self employed but we have overtime on our contracts which can get up to T3 depending on hours worked. So when I work my tool collection benefits greatly😀 Adrian
  18. Happy enough to take the blame for you buying a decent welding helmet.😉 I am still amazed at the difference the Lincoln makes, now the bad welding is truly my fault. Modifying my workshop shelving I ran out of mig gas over easter so decided to have a go with the tig, its a whole new game. Looking forward to more work with the tig. Adrian
  19. Had a nosey at a replica a few years back, iirc it had a diesel engine. Adrian
  20. Hi Roger You mention wheel studs being bent. Are you running Triumph wheels at 3 3/4" (95.25mm) pcd. Fiat/Lada rims at 98mm PCD will pull up on the Triumph studs but not that well . Adrian

  22. MGB533 1144 Mintex should fit a Type 12 caliper. Adrian
  23. Please correct me if I am wrong but does the Ford type 16 caliper fit the Type 12 caliper mounts. Adrian
