  1. Looking on Moss website It appears to be the right part .
  2. Had a club supplied ( Moss ? ) Poly tunnel a while now and in process of fitting after g/box rebuild and fitting o/d on mk2 Vitesse Either the fit is rubbish or I have the wrong part , hole for gerlever is wrong see photos and cover still needs to go forward 25 mm approx for mntg holes to line up and front face be somewhat near bulkhead. I have already butchered it to remove excessive flange depth on bottom and front faces. It is marked as vit/ gt6 but is it herald / spit part. Is the difference just the hole position or is the moulding different in that area. By buying through club I was trying to avoid these issues as well as supporting the club.
  3. As you can see I painted the hood aperature surround black also to match interior.
  4. I have covered mine in vinyl . Just used a cheap e bay spray adhesive that I used when refurbishing seat foams. B post covers could be better , but improvement over original grotty white ones . I wanted them to match trim also. Re originality , your car do what you like to it .
  5. I added it because a blanking rivet ( no longer available ) was listed in the spares manual o/d conversion kit , but logic of why to blank it when you add o/d defeats me.
  6. the bracket had to be bent " to suit " and the cam redrilled for it all to work … another example of simple parts not correct. if you look carefully you can see that I have also put a screw in the gearbocx breather hole . any views...…….. yes , no , necessary or advised
  7. Sorry not sure I understand your point re ' rubber deals '
  8. Getting back on topic......I presume all angle drives need a washer as BL put out a Tech Bulletin or is it just aftermarket angle drives . This looks like a good old un.
  9. Clive , what's the difference between the two Gkn ones ?
  10. I have always used gkn ones from club no problems . Bargain compare to the cheaper alternative crap. The most expensive part you will buy is the cheap one that does not work. Understand that being in Ireland postage and timing is an issue us mainlanders don't have to worry about.
  11. We are go for launch, No 1 son coming round tomorrow to give me a lift with it. Bearing carrier re pinned in new position and fork pins refurbed so less losses in clutch system.
  12. Understand what your saying now Pete . Thanks for the explanation. I hope the rings work as well. I'll let you know. Pete.
  13. Thanks Roger for you very kind offer but I don't think that's necessary. I bought the o/d a couple of years back at a very good price complete with adaptors and right angle drive so I could afford a check up with Overdrive spares at rugby , who said It worked fine just a bit stuck from lack of use . So all I needed to check was that I had done nothing silly in convering the mainshaft , and reassembling it all . nothing worse than getting it all back in the car and its got to come out again for something daft , especially as this is the first time I 've done it . Pete's advice has been invaluable along the way. Gearbox works fine selects gears ok after rebuild , pump cam fitted and all reassembled back together . so just checking for the obvious really. seems to work ok , output shaft speeds up when solenoid engages .
  14. Just seemed the easiest thing to do , and the engine drives the gearbox in real life . Got no means to drive output flange or measure pressure so was just looking to do a functional check that when engaged in 4th to maximise rotation speed ,output flange speeds up when solenoid engages.
  15. Pete Just wanted to check o/d is engaging and disengaging and working properly before get in all back in and find something silly and its all got to come out again. Set up is similar to Rogers except using a drill not a motor. Its hard work for the drill , surprised how much torque to drive. G/b and o/d assembled together no option but to drive input shaft , why is this an issue. Cheers Paul
  16. Thanks Roger, It was given a clean bill of health by Overdrive guys in Nuneaton , 2 yrs ago , so just checking this and gb conversion from non o/d before it all goes back in. Fingers crossed. As an aside I camped behind you at CLM 2016 , knew your brother in law Derek and actually bumped into him at Castle Combe Autumn classic in October. It was nice to see him again after a while. You going this year , ?
  17. Just checking that normal forward direction of rotation of engine is clockwise viewed from front. Driving input shaft with drill , want to make sure not going in reverse direction. Not able to check on engine at moment. Cheers
  18. I' ve given up complaining to Rimmers , only get bs response , and lose postage costs, Why do J D responses always seem a bit terse ? yes I could have complained to them all but gets a bit difficult when you buy things when you can for that big job your gonna do sometime in the future , when offers are on or to minimise postage costs .... sorry sir they are out of warranty cos they are more than a year old ... I was making a general point and also informing others of things to be aware of , my powers of modification and fettling have come on leaps and bounds in the last few years thank goodness.
  19. Be careful attempting to plate fasteners yourself , fraught with danger , hydrogen embrittlement is a problem especially on high tensile stuff and controllng thickness to ensure correct fit. I like using nice shiny new fixings also but not sure how long they will stay shiny though.
  20. ..........of keeping our precious cars with the ever declining standard of replacement parts. Even the easiest parts are seemingly difficult to get right nowadays 2 gaskets as an example of todays fun. For the uninitiated gearbox extension gasket should have 7 holes not 6 , and to make matters worse for some reason I bought 2 and they were both the same hole positioning on the other leaves a lot to be desired . Also needed to significantly rebend overdrive switch bracket that mounts on gear selector housing and redrill cross hole for cam mounting in selector shaft extension as hole in cam had been drilled in totally the wrong position. These parts came from a selection of all the usual suspects. They all sell the same rubbish , some just charge more for them than others. Thank you and goodnight.
  21. When I looked on e bay for his offerings my initial thought was it looks too good to be true and we all know what that means. Just cannot figure out why nobody knows anything good or bad. Surely sombody got a bargain or their fingers burnt.
  22. Poppyman we are with you on recomendations, mate was lured by the Very attractive prices , but was looking for feedback first. Interesting a previous enquiry on Ct forum yielded no response whatsoever.
  23. Enquiry on behalf of a mate....anybody had any dealing / experience with Eureka Triumph based in N Wales , He has extensive e bay listings of engine rebuilds , head work etc at attractive prices , but have no recollection of ever hearing of him before . Recently constructed website " in development " ….No address just a mobile number always worries me . thanks Paul.
  24. New clamps and leads it is then. New hi torque starter motor took out the old one , starter engaged did not turn and then retracted , all electrics dead , battery reads 12 v unloaded but 0 v with just ign on . Tried new motor with jump leads on tr6 battery with fingers crossed and works ok. Many thanks o wise ones..
  25. Need new battery for mk2 vitesse. Current connectors are the 'pot type ' with self tapper in top of terminal . cannot find a battery with this type... seem to be correct posts but not drilled. do you need to do drill yourself or Is it better to change over to clamp connectors . If so I'll replace the whole leads also.
