  1. Hi Bruce, not sure if this helps but if its the same as the herald does it have the horn push pencil thing in the boss to make the contact between the brass ring in the cowl and back of the horn push. I just had the problem of the steering wheel boss ( mota lita copy ) touching the metal cowl making a contact and sounding the horn continually, solved it with a tip from here by adjusting the collapsible column in the footwell to gain the gap allowing the pencil push to make the contact.
  2. Thanks mishmosh great tip, all done, can now get my leg under the new wheel instead of trying to be a contortionist with the original and bend it round whilst jamming my knee every time i want third!.This forum is proving to be brilliant, cheers fella.
  3. Hi all, has anyone any thoughts on a problem I have with my new steering wheel for my Herald 1360?. I needed to replace the original bus type wheel for extra leg room (6ft 4") so opted for a sporty wooden 13" jobby with a recommended Springalex boss. Fitting the boss and wheel required spacer washers to be fitted so as to tighten the wheel down. The problem I am having is that the wheel seems to have ground down the steering column shroud and it now makes a contact with the brass horn ring setting off the horn!. I dont think this can be right but am not sure as to how to keep the wheel off of the brass contact ring. Do I need a different boss maybe?. Cheers Simon
  4. Thanks once again Pete, Popped down to my local euro parts (formerly Lucas) today, 1 rotar arm, 1 set of points and a condenser for £ 10.33 off the shelf. Started to change them one at a time to isolate the problem, Started with the rotar arm, no difference, next the condenser and bingo! one smooth running herald. Simon
  5. Cheers Pete, great advice, I dont have a meter as yet so will start with the other checks and replacement of the rotor and condenser etc, once again many thanks, Simon.
  6. Hi All, Can anyone advise a new novice member as to a problem with the herald 1360 Ive just aquired, All was going well with a couple of local drives to get used to driving an old car again when out of the blue it wouldnt start in the garage one morning. On an initial inspection I found petrol was getting to the carb so a quick look over the ignition system showed up a mouse nibbled! coil lead and a weak spark to the distributor cap so i replaced the lead with a new one and tried to start the engine. It ran to a fashion but very lumpy with every touch of the accelerator causing a stall. I noticed that while running lumpy the coil was getting very hot, could this be the problem, a faulty coil perhaps or should i be looking somewhere else, as you can probably tell i am a novice to all this so any help would be really great, Cheers,
