  1. The part attached to the handbrake lever, which when the hand break is pulled it pushes outwards, turning the cog on the back of the cylinder which is on a screw, which in turn pushes the shoe out a little? i just refurbished the ones i already had, i ordered some from rimmer but they were incorrect
  2. I too have self adjusters on my GT6, rimmer brothers apparently don't have these.... but after a bit of searching i found James Paddock LTD, http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/parts.aspx?categoryID=22&vehicleId=4, here is a list of all his brake stuff, mine should arrive today and if the rain lets off i should be able to get her back on the road by this afternoon (if the postman ever turns up!) so i can let you know how they are. I have repaired cylinders on previous cars with new seal kits and to be honest with you i found it really wasn't worth the effort when they are so cheap to buy, like everyone else has said, if they are marked/damaged inside they will just blow again.
  3. Hi again, so i have the part... it looks a little big, has anyone else done this and if so could you spare me a little advice and possibly some pictures please? thanks Tim
  4. Wow the stainless steel ones look really good, i thought the whole point oh having chromed ones was because stainless was to expensive! haha well I'm super keen on them now, where did you get them from? i have worked a lot with stainless steel so bit of a geeky question next, do you know what % chrome you have in those? otherwise i think we should organise an outing to Dudley haha Thanks everyone for the advice
  5. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good chroming company and what i should expect to pay?, i would like to get my bumpers done, Im in south Wales but don't mind traveling a bit if i get better quality. Thanks Tim
  6. Thanks Ben, I have purchased that same angle drive and it came with those documents which i followed but still had an issue. Peter, i managed to get the blasted thing apart, i also tested it with a old speedo cable and a drill, it ended up doing the same thing (twisting off the end of the speedo cable) so by process of elimination i think you were spot on, I'm just unsure on how to clean the thing, scared of the springs departing the unit haha best regards Tim
  7. Thanks Clive and Pete I have the speedo off now and in bits on my work bench where i cleaned it and greased it up, i must admit i was a little scared thinking it would all just go BOING with springs and cogs everywhere haha but glad to say this didn't happen, i will test it tomorrow with an old speedo cable and a drill. As for the right angle drive, the new one i bought recently seemed to work fine with my fingers, but it does not come apart, i did however keep the one i took off which does, i will take a look at it tomorrow and chop up the old cable and see if i can repair it, fingers crossed on that mission ( i actually love stuff like this) any idea on how long it should be? Best regards Tim
  8. Thank you both very much for the advice, I will be taking off the angle drive and the speedo today to have a proper look, I'm curious about the 'may require 2 washers' the part i purchased stated that it was for a GT6 MKIII O/D and that i had to use one washer, i did think one of the parts looked rather long but then i haven't seen one for this model of car before. just before it broke i saw the speedo go a bit crazy. th is could get a bit expensive if i have to change it every 79.9 miles haha Best Regards Tim
  9. Hi everyone, So i have recently changed out the speedo cable and angle drive running off my overdrive as the previous one was incorrect and snapped inside the pin, thankfully i was able to remove the snapped pice and install a new angle drive (from rimmer bros) i installed it exactly as instructed to do so with the washer, i got to about 80miles and the it is broken again, i haven't check but I'm assuming its in the same place, the cable is snapping inside the pin coming from the overdrive, has anyone else experienced this? i figure it could be one of 3 issues 1. Speedo cable has a kink in it (it does not) 2. There is an issue with the pin in the overdrive unit. 3. The speedo is jamming stopping the cable and making it snap in the right angle drive any help would be much appreciated, as this is driving me nuts haha. thanks
  10. Hi John and Pete, Thank you very much for your help, after further inspection (thankfully) the rust does not rise up into the front of the roof, i believe these repairs were done in 1996 so i am in luck, i have treated the rusted areas on the lip (again thankfully not too much rust) but i can see how the water and get in there and just sit, eating away from the inside, is there a good way of stopping this? filling the void with wax oil maybe? I'm pretty good at sealing things (i haven't had a boat sink on me yet (touch wood)) I have ordered the part from rimmerbros, mad they are going to like me from all the parts i have just bought haha Best Regards Tim
  11. Hi everyone, Im Tim, totally new to owning a triumph, and very excited each day to wake up and work on her. Im a shipwright by trade so renovating the car in my garage. I recently started work on the lip above the windscreen (I'm not sure on the official name) I know this is a hot spot for rust and boy did i find some, i also found that the lip was glued onto, possibly, the old lip, is there a company that makes these? sadly the person that did this did not seal it correctly and it became damaged with time. any help would be much appreciated Thanks Best Regards Tim
