  1. I know it wasn't original but I wax polished mine. A nice balance between satin and polished finished. Certainly will never peel! 🤣 Aidan
  2. I adapted an old hole saw (the ones you use for cutting larger holes in ceilings for downlighters) it grabs all three pins so has an even force around the ring. I had real problems using the screwdriver and hammer method (ham fisted maybe) the seal wrinkled and failed to seal Aidan
  3. Used a lot by electricians. Sorry I should have written it out in full Aidan
  4. Used a thick single strand CSA of 4mm sq. I would agree with Colin normally but this is in a static non flexing position so pretty safe not to fracture Aidan
  5. I used a thick solid copper wire to join the contacts. Once you add connectors there really is no access to enable s short as the connections are close enough so the insulated connectors covered the whole of the copper Aidan
  6. Going to see if there are any nos n9y's about. You never know! Maybe I'll just keep the plugs in and not even clean them up! Aidan
  7. Hi Here is an interesting article regarding plugs sent to me by a spark plug supplier of some 20 years https://www.gsparkplug.com/shop/fouling-shortingout-problem-modern-plugs-champion-vs-ngk/ Aidan
  8. That's Changed from when I got them Colin! I'm sure there must be a better way plus now this article has scared me somewhat! Hence the Q above - where else to buy from? Not sure if I have the real thing or good fakes or what - its a minefield! Aidan
  9. Hi After reading all the above, what plugs other than NGK, which I have found to be unreliable, would people suggest? and Where to buy from? Club shop would be my first port of call but they only sell NGK Aidan
  10. I never use them anymore - held my package ad I'd underpaid. Didn't contact me and was sent from pillar to post when I tried to find out where it was. Took another month to get delivery. I now change the m to a p in their name! It was only a 60 mile journey! Aidan
  11. I've fallen out with NGK! Clive, it's interesting you have had the same issues with them as I. I've moved on to these and so far so good. (Ad picture does look odd!) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F291831106471 Aidan
  12. There's me thinking it should be a stud as my mk2 engine had a bolt and the 2000 currently in the car is all nuts! 😆 Aidan
  13. Colin You are totally correct. I have one fitted to my gt6 along with a standard mechanical fan. It does not get past about half way on the temp gauge unless it's a very very hot day and then not much further Aidan
  14. Dave I had the exact same symptoms and changed the sender which can cause this but it made no difference to me If I was to do it again, I would change the voltage stabilizer first as not only did it solve my problem it was also by far the cheapest part! Aidan
  15. I'm 6ft 2" and don't have major issues getting into the GT6. But them im a bit more bendy than Pete! and a little younger. I'm around 13 stone though so not that wide.😁 Aidan
  16. Just another thought, but has anyone tried fitting a wider diameter manual fan? Again refering back to Cookies article I decided not to go down the electric route Aidan
  17. So to answer your Q Fitted my relays in the front bonnet lip the same as Doug above with the same kit. There are bullet wire junctions there to enable you to remove the bonnet. I used this so I did as little re-wiring as possible. Sealed it all up and works fine on my mk1 gt6 Aidan
  18. Silver sixpence washers are more expensive 😂 Aidan
  19. What new plugs are you using? I've had real issues with NGK from the club just the odd one failing and giving a similar misfire Aidan
  20. Sorry I binned the ply one I made up....and it was a mk1 gt6 but you could always do the same? I just used the original as a template jig saw hole saw and some sandpaper plus used all the original iron-mongery which is definitely a good plan as they are like hens teeth Good luck Aidan
  21. It's a fun job and agree with Colin. I did the same bug found it was the hinge that was worn and not the pin! Aidan
  22. Hi Colin Its in reference to this eBay item. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303063209539?ViewItem&item=303063209539&fbclid=IwAR0iGzVBN4tH9tUxfnz3YoOoj68R9R5PK3UKlfGwkzb9KgR9txvRFypVZV0 Basically saying buyer beware! and a potential stolen body tub Aidan
  23. Convex all the time what ever the mirror and position makes a great improvement on flat Aidan
