  1. Continuing on the theme of water in the cabin I have noticed that sometimes I have water in the gt6 boot between the rear valance and the boot floor where there seems to be quite a sizable water trap Should there be a drain hole somewhere and if so where exactly? Thx Aidan
  2. Whilst talking about drain holes, do check your battery box drain hole is clear and not bunged up I had to clear mine out a couple of weeks ago as it was not draining so used a cut up coat hanger to clear it out Aidan
  3. Sorry guys terminology confusion. Is VHI the same as the car being registered as historic? Aidan
  4. Post office? What's that? Pay your £0.00 on-line and it has all that's needed Last time I did it it knew the car had an up-to-date mot so I assume next time the progran won't even bother looking !! Aidan
  5. Doug. How about a white board tutorial on the electrical basics on the day? Happy to help / participate We can compare multi-meters Aidan

    Engine Stand

Thanks all very useful. Just need to buy one plus a block and tackle to lift the engine. (No crane but have a great thick wood beam in the garage!) Sorry should have added can you advise on what kind of dimensions the plate should be? Thx Aidan
  7. That's fleabay for you. Getting mine from a breaker I know (a 2000 mk2 vitesse that is) Aidan

    Engine Stand

Thanks John. Seems pretty simple to make an offset plate so the engine weight is better balanced Aidan

    Engine Stand

Does anyone know what size and length of bolt i would need? Aidan Colin. I have also read that it can be mounted via the side engine mount but I assume a plate would need to be made to fit it? Do you know if anyone has a design or old one they would like to sell? Aidan
  10. Paul Yours looks to be the same as mine, certainly from the same source! I checked mine all over and it had no holes as per Colin so should be ok Aidan

    Engine Stand

Question. Are there any issues in using an engine stand on a six pot? I'm sure someone said it damages the end plate but it may just be me. Anything I should know about or anyone recommend that I do Thanks Aidan
  12. You might have a problem in preparing it yourself. Most paint guys will only paint on their prep unless it has been done by another professional I suggest you seek advice directly from the painters you get quotes from before you start Aidan
  13. Hi all I need to remove the vac advance module from my d200 delco dizzy so that I can fettle where the retaining clip clamps fit. At the moment one of the clamps drops out easily and i have no doubt that at some point it will disappear somewhere and i wont be able to find it The question is is there anything I need to know in removing the vacuum advance unit or does it just pull out once the two retaining screws are removed? Thx Aidan
  14. Aha. Well I used an old pipe cutter I have. Cuts pipes with a lovely bevel as Doug says. Aidan
  15. It's really odd this It seems to hit some but not others. I swapped all mine to R9 and never had a problem. Is it possible it's just different R9 makes or the way it's cut? I used a Stanley to cut mine to length Aidan
  16. A nice car but I still prefer the mk1 but then I'm biased! Aidan
  17. Will try to be there earlier than 10am Pete based on last time Aidan
  18. I have also been looking for a fan for the front of the rad on the GT6 again for those few times that there is a jam I am also worried about it reducing the standard flow. The ones I have seen seem to have a large central area for the electric motor so has anyone seen any where the motor is more compact? Aidan
  19. As the 82 pound one I'd a mk3 it would not fit what I am looking for an I agree if wouldn't be worth more than 50 I will put an item in the wanted list to see if anyone has a spare sitting around Found that shipping from anywhere in England is around £50 and o don't think that's too bad Might try some trusted scrappies to Aidan
  20. Well missed out on one I was looking for but I'm sure there will be others. Can I ask you all a question. What price range should I be really looking at ? Aidan Suppose I should put a parts wanted request in!
  21. Hi Pete I never considered this as an option but the many comments on this engine are none the less useful. If I manage to buy the one I have found I will add some photos of it on here and will look for ideas on the best routes for reconditioning Aidan
  22. One not to touch then! Glad you are all on my side ! Think we have ripped that particular offering from eBay to bits!
  23. I find Geoff most helpful and knows what stock he has. CAN be a little pricey but that's because I'm always looking for the hens teeth!!
