  1. Colin, didn't they come with nuts? I was looking at this supplier, he's offering me a full set of SS studs nuts and washers but now you have me worried
  2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-2-0-litre-6-cylinder-front-cover-in-stainless-steel-fasteners-/373504073359?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 I've been in touch with this eBay supplier who will make up sets as needed in S/S Aidan
  3. I can see the point of not totally removng the screw as i find it a complete sod to locate them properly I agree about the silly price and the gasket being too shallow. Anyone found another better seal to use??
  4. Sorry to jump on this tag but I have a related question that I am still confused by The Kit that holds the tunnel down comes in four parts the clip that that fits to the lip of the bodywork, the Screw, the elongated dual opening rectangular top clamp and finally a washer. Where does the washer go in the order of things? If its above the tunnel surely this stops you from removing the tunnel without taking the screws completely out. I thought the idea is not to have to do that but just to loosen and take the rectangular clamps off Thx
  5. Yes now found the right switch and the issue is the wire between the switch and the rear loom. Its very very odd I've never come across this one the loom junction is an 8 point Lucas. When I take a power cable from the battery to the rear loom side of the plug the reverse lights work. A volt meter check the other side of the plug gives out 13.7v without anything switched bit when the plug is joined it drops to a very low voltage and the reverse lights don't illuminate So solution- just rewire from the reverse switch to the plug I think Any other views????
  6. Know it's taken a long time but I have now had a chance to look at this. The switch is being powered correctly and is working correctly so now on to the wiring. I am going to do a full replacement of the rear loom, but id like to find the fail poont first. Apart from over the wheel arch mentioned before where does the rear loom join up? Is it somewhere near the fuse box??
  7. Thanks Paul I think I may have the wrong switch. The way it's working would suggest it's the od inhibitor switch which I think is fine Tomorrow is another Day to find my problem!!!!
  8. Anyone got a pic of the reverse switch location? It's a mk2 gt6 gearbox with a D type overdrive Thanks
  9. Hmm might be looking in the wrong place then! Thanks I will check the drivers side!!!! Cheers all
  10. Just to make sure I'm not being bloody stupid, I am correct that the reverse switch and the od inhibitor are one in the same switch on the top of the gearbox left hand side when looking forward??
  11. Does that mean something has gone astray with the gear linkage??? Something twisted around?? How do I sort? Aidan
  12. Put this in here as I need to understand the switch actuation as I think my switch has reversed itself. Putting my finger where the switch goes, it would seem reverse would leave the ball pin out of the switch whereas the ball pin is pushed in on other gears. Is this correct? My switch connects when the ball pin is pushed in which I believe is the reverse of what it should do Thx Aidan

    Spark plugs

I got to a solution in the end with the insulation problem. I now run on OEM champions. These have a coating on the insulation in the interior of the plug and don't get contaminated Aidan
  14. I just signed out and in again but wasn't prompted for my membership number. So now I'm confused, although I use the same username for Tssc and here. A little confused Aidan
  15. I'm not going to worry! Lots to do but going to run out of time before the builders move in! Current garage being converted New double being built All going in to storage for 12 weeks What Fun!
  16. Won't be an issue Pete will it? 1 thou less than book
  17. Measurement from the machine shop - not sure how he measured it - Will get my DTI out @ the weekend 😊
  18. 5 thou with standard thrust washers - A little tight maybe? Aidan
  19. Nick, Yes, the Machine shop confirmed it Roger Good question - what is the crank thrust end float? 🤔 Note the title above "Novice" Aidan
  20. All the bearings have been replaced, possibly needn't have been done but least I know it's all good now. I don't know the engines history so it's a new start for it
  21. Yet another Novice question! I notice that my cylinders have been lined / Sleeved. Does this infer that the engine had a hard life prior to my ownership? Aidan
  22. I do like that Colin. I have found another, I know not triumph standard but it's more like tap with a spout! Easier to catch the water when changing the coolant! Aidan
  23. Its 1/4" BSP if anyone else wants to know - I have now found plenty of alternatives Thanks
  24. Hi Has anyone found an alternative tap that fits our engines block coolant drain? I don't really want a plug but was thinking the radiator one might fit? Anyone know of anything else? Aidan
  25. So quick update Block and flywheel skimmed Bores honed Crank polished Bearings and rings ordered Now starts the re-construction 😊 Aidan
