  1. Silly question perhaps, but why change to LED? Is it to protect the wiring or to save power? Former I sort of get, but the latter makes no sense. If (headlights) its for better lights, just put better ones in - I think Land Rover Defender (Or is it series) ones fit. And add relays
  2. Need a better router! Mines been up for 35days and that’s only because I made a config change to the network.
  3. One down the chimney is unpleasant but not painful either. And you get to see the pictures.
  4. May have said before, but I put some LED "bulbs" in the number plate lights on my daughters 107 - I had them in stock. And they were fine for about a year when one failed and as is common on LED's failed short - so took all the dash and side marker lights out in the process. Standard bulbs went back in.
  5. TBH if you are going to get it, you are going to get it - my wife got it a month ago despite not being out over about twice since Christmas.
  6. All the same to me - but then I never log out.........
  7. Round here lots of cyclist have flashing very bright lights on their bikes and seemingly aim them at drivers. Really P's me off!
  8. I had the rear wing resprayed a year or so ago - and I did know what it was - but have forgotten now. Delft Blue possibly.
  9. Not really - Spitty is probably the nearest thing to a name it has!
  10. I miss mine in lots of ways. I did 172k miles in 7years. Sold with 234k on the clock. I spent nearly 35k on fuel. And 27k on everything else. Including a new engine at 120k. Worked out at 40p/mile. if I’d still got it it would have had another 70k or so on top and who knows what else on bits.
  11. I had to tow a motorhome off the carpark at Kenilworth castle when I had a defender - came out very easily he just ran out of traction. I've had some great times in my Disco - going down is sometimes easier than going up...
  12. Yes these are the ones that my daily will almost straddle - my old Disco definitely would - but not the spit - though the gap between the two on opposite sides of the road was big enough to get through with no bump - which was fine until a car was coming the other way
  13. Now I've been out a couple of times the rear is sitting better - not perfect yet, but definitely better - yesterdays trip included a run down a road that they have installed speed bumps (Hateful things) - but does seem to have settled the spring quite nicely.
  14. Unfortunately a lot of the Range Rover types think they can go anywhere in their 4x4's - but don't seem to realise physics still happens. Wonder if he had pressed the the raise suspension button? Or put it in one of the modes that lock up the diffs? But the tyres won't help either.
  15. I have konis on my spitfire - and now it has rear suspension too they are very nice. The ride is so much better too. Actually seem to have some spring on the back - it tended to crash over bumps with very little give. still riding a little higher than I’d like but hopefully will settle after a few miles.
  16. Took some shopping to the mother in laws this morning - so as it was dry (But 'kin cold!) took the spitfire out. About a 20mile round trip but it never really got hot. Oh for warmer days (Its still under 5'C now)
  17. Yes. Went out 3 times yesterday - daughter to and from work and picked up my mum. Got a wave from a chap in a MG 😊
  18. I had to deal with a guy that was carrying sheet steel (Used for cladding ductwork) and it slipped. And he wasn't wearing gloves. Had a nasty gash to the hand. I used all my first aid skills - i.e. wrapped it with a bandage and sent him to hospital.
  19. Ozzy did crash his too - not as bad as Ricks though Ozzy seriously hurt in quad bike crash | Daily Mail Online
  20. Ozzy Osbourne broke his back from memory. But there have been quite a few "celebrities" do themselves some damage on them
  21. Not if you also fit additional resistors - which somewhat makes the reduced energy consumption null and void! Big buggers they are too.
  22. Its generally considered ok in side/indicators (Subject to the flasher unit working ok with the reduced current or additional resistors install to get the current back up to the expected value) as they are not the main light source for seeing. And if an LED bulb is manufactured to the exact same specification and has a single light source, then it should still work the same - but they generally have multiple separate LED's which don't converge on the reflector correctly so the light doesn't come out of the fitting correctly and can cause stray light and blind or just be crap. All down to design of the light fitting. And hence LED lamps on modern cars are thousands (Apart from being a stupid shape which adds cost anyway) and not a "few" quid.
  23. Ah well, French, say no more......... Disco self levelled all four corners of the suspension which worked great. (Could go up and down which was good for lots of things) The BMW self levelled the rear only - worked ok. The Current skoda levels the lights themselves - and points them in the direction of travel which works really well. Certainly none of them have upsy downsy
  24. I'd seen this one elsewhere. Seems reasonable to me as they (headlamps) were never designed for LED's or especially HID's and unless in the case of LED's the position of the light source matches halogens, the beam pattern will be off. In the case of HID's, unless the headlamps are fitted with washers and levelling (either suspension or fitting itself) they are illegal anyway. I,e you can't replace your headlamps with ones designed for HID's unless you also fit washers and levelling.
