  1. It all depends on what you want from this forum. If, like me, you come here for information and advice from real experts then people like the 3 you refer to are a really valuable asset, net contributors by any measure. If you come here for banter and to exercise your comedy skills then you're in luck.
  2. Then the answer is simple, just hover your mouse over the name of the offender and a box will appear with a button that allows you to ignore content from that user. Reg
  3. Excellent discovery Doug. All of it seems perfectly sensible. I particularly like this bit The Moderators here are volunteers that serve to make the site better by keeping things under control. It's a thankless job. Many times they take abuse from those that they contact. They do not need to be second guessed by armchair mods that think they could do a better job. Reg
  4. When this happened to me I found that I was able to peel back the headlining enough to get a small pair of Molegrips onto the metal cage that holds the nut captive. By squeezing the cage it also gripped the nut and I was able to undo the bolt.
  5. A recent post raised the idea of swapping the positions of the indicator and lighting stalks, so that they match the locations on a modern car you might also drive. My wife's Saab has the indicator stalk on the left and I wanted my Triumph to have the same arrangement. On the early cars this is simply a matter of swapping round the stalks and the cowls and possibly the metal nib that does the self cancelling of the indicators. As somebody on the other post pointed out, this does mean that the decals are now upside down too. If you are thinking of doing this, or have done it already, you might find the attached file useful? I have redrawn the decals so that they are right for the new arrangement. You will need to print them out onto 'waterslide transfer paper', the white variety not the transparent type. If you have access to a laser printer then it is all very easy, but if you only have an inkjet then you will need to varnish the decals before you apply them. Application is just like how you used to apply the decals to your Airfix models (or still do). I hope that this is useful to somebody. Reg
  6. Swapping the suspension turrets to move the engine back in the chassis is a well tried technique as used in all Burlington Arrows for example. Reg
  7. Hi Peter, Is it possible to get the best of both worlds and have the folding Mk3 frame mount into the tubes on the MK2's B posts? That way you could have the convenience of the folding hood, but then remove it completely to still have the clean lines of the early cars on a really sunny day. Reg
  8. Hi Cliff, Can you add a few washers under the terminal ring so that the nut runs on the good threads higher up the stud, or has it all stripped? Reg
  9. I do what Casper suggested and use the pronged spanner that came with my angle grinder, it's a perfect fit. Reg
