  1. I knew of one type of hand cream that caused a catastrophic effect on condoms. No...do NOT ask!!!!
  2. Good news. Is the Colin Lyndsay at 2011 'our' Colin Lindsay?
  3. I just feed you the lines to see if anyone is paying attention.
  4. I don't know about sunblock, but black boot polish has revitalise several of my old rubber fittings. Thank Colin.
  5. Alex - Don't know about the MkIII latches but mine are also loose until locked onto the top frame, then they are tight. I have not considered taking mine apart, but a spring washer type thing would be a good idea.
  6. Mine were gunged up with grease by the local 'professionals' (which went solid during a lay up), despite me telling them to oil them. When I found out, I took off the nipples and cleaned them up and then used a cotton bud soaked in thinners to form a void at the top so that I could get some oil in there. Worked it through over about a week. The oil eventually softened the grease and, as Chris said, the muck eventually softened enough to be forced out.
  7. Hmmm. Rectangular castors, now there's innovation!!??
  8. My negativity is caused by the number of spoof/fishing messages that are around. Got the EVRI delivery one this morning to my phone which I thought was secure but they got the number from somewhere. After two attempts to lift 2.5k from a 'secure' credit card, paranoia certainly does rule.
  9. What about 4 heavy duty plant pot trollies, or DIY with 1" ply as a base and a heavy duty caster/wheel at each corner?
  10. I swopped the sealed beam units for the halogen fitting from an old Toyota that I was trading in. Amazing the difference and that was twenty five (plus) years ago. The relays appear to make them even brighter. Wonder what modern bulbs would be like in them?
  11. Sorry. Anything that mentions Google etc and I'm not interested. I read the survey, understood the reference for saving but still not interested. Incidentally I did find it interesting that this survey went on the main website when the club wanted information from us. It doesn't appear to work too well the other way round when we want to find information from the club or (yes, here we go again) the club shop.
  12. Thanks Clive. I will check the connections and protect.
  13. I have the fleabay kits. Got it after Doug's praise some time back. Great upgrade but take care to check the in-line fuse rating. Mine came in with 40amp. Others have come with different ratings so best to check.
  14. It is said that the basic light sabre handle is the battery grip off an old speed graphix camera flash (with bits added) and was found when one of the props guys was rummaging in a box of discarded camera parts
  15. I was just curious how hot the roof got as it was in direct sunshine. The answer was approx 55 degrees. Back to the old posts about cooking pasties on an engine!!
  16. Got mine from L!dl, where else. Works well but shiny surfaces confuse it, such as the underside of my galvanised metal shed roof.
  17. Have a good look around the cockpits of the Thunderbird crafts for a motley selection of toothpaste tube caps, audio plug parts and other interesting bits. There is even a fruit juice squeezer on the side of the Thunderbird 1 launch silo
  18. Gentlemen - Perhaps this thread, a mark of respect and celebration of our dearly departed and much loved Queen has maybe drifted enough now?
  19. Oh no.... don't tell us that our cars are now 'none binary' (whatever that actually means).
  20. My Dad once went to his GP. She waved her fag in his direction and said, you really need to give up these. Pot and kettle I think.
  21. The cartridge is just like the araldite system. If you are only using a small amount you are right to mix on a board. Using the mixing nozzles wastes adhesive and you can't reuse the nozzle. You may pick up a few ideas from my experiences with adhesives here... https://forum.tssc.org.uk/topic/2623-on-to-the-next-bit-nose-to-tail-1972-spitfire-mkiv-restoration-upgrades/page/35/ ..pages 35-41 and 42 & 49. Hope it helps a little.
  22. I would suggest that hat you make up a sort of 'press' with two pieces of dowel or tube side by side to push out the two elements evenly before you mix. Make sure that you clean the end of the cartridge fully as any glue remaining may mix at the end of the cart and seal it up. You have a short working time. Download the instructions off the 3M site.
  23. Neil - Don't forget that you may need the dispenser gun although I have mixed small amounts on a board. If you do get a gun make sure that you get the correct model as there are several which all look similar. Some do several different sizes of cartridge. Also the adhesive is date sensitive, so check the sell by date on the cartridge. I keep mine in the fridge!!
