  1. The hose and pipe from the tank seem ok just from an external inspection.
  2. Where does the fuel tank vent from? All I can see is the fuel line coming out?
  3. Plugs are NGK. Not sure what the previous ones were. There is a spark. Problem is definitely on the fuel side I think?
  4. Been having this problem with our Mk 2 Vitesse. It starts fine and ticks over nicely but when driven it starts to get lumpy on acceleration and then shortly after it dies completely. New carbs have been fitted along with points, plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm and condenser. I have noticed an air bubble in the fuel line just before the fuel pump and wonder if this is the likely cause? When I manually pump it the bubble stretches but does not enter the pump so stays in place. Any advice gratefully received.
  5. Thanks. Do I need to remove the brass nut on the underside? When I try to the float chamber moves with it but it will only turn a couple of mm.
  6. I am in the process of overhauling a pair of Zenith Strombergs from a 1971 (mk2) Triumph Vitesse. I have removed the 6 screws that hild the float chamber in place but it is stuck solid. It’s not the gasket holding it in place. Any tips on how to remove it?
  7. Indeed. One if the reasons I’ve been reluctant to change them.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I’ll bite the bullet and take the carbs off. Thanks for the tips. I might replace the fuel lines too while I’m at it.
  9. I have checked that fuel is flowing to both carbs when pumped. The second carb is definitely dry though. Can the float chamber/jets be accessed without taking the carbs off the car?
  10. Our Mk2 Vitesse is driving us mad. Following starting and running problems (backfiring and very lumpy) we had a mechanic look at it. We picked it up and it was running smoothly for about 5 miles until it suddenly became lumpy, lost power and wouldn’t start. New distributor, points, plugs and sparking ok. Fuel pump working and fuel getting to the carbs (although may be not evenly)? Please help!!!
