  1. And normal brake fluid being more flammable than petrol. Regards Paul.
  2. Don't understand how they work, if the master cylinder leaks from pushrod end it still leaks down the pedal, if it overflows or you are careless topping up the bolts would need to be sealed, difficult with lock washers. Stripped paint both ways unless using silicone brake fluid. Regards Paul.
  3. Had Lumenition Optronic in my Vitesse with a Lucas DB105 coil for years, recently fitted Bosh WR78? spark plugs starts better than before when I had NGK fitted, especially when the car has not been used for a few days, used plugs as bought and didn't even check the gaps. Regards Paul
  4. Presumably you have both bits so could be welded back together. Regards Paul.
  5. If going to solid mount's you will need to fit a piece of rubber with a jubilee clip or similar to retain the small plastic plug. Regards Paul.
  6. Seems very similar spec. to the one l bought from Machine Mart, one of my COVID buys. Should have bought one years ago it's so useful and convenient, but must admit tend to use the same drill speed for the vast majority of jobs. Did change the keyed Chuck to a keyless one though. Regards Paul.
  7. Never seen a slot in that mounting point, is the slot horizontal or vertical?, If vertical I would say wear if horizontal perhaps a previous owner did it for adjustment so that the front mountings would line up. Mine were worn vertically some worse than others, l assumed the bottom of the hole was correct and welded washers on as a repair. How they where worn is a mystery as there shouldn't be any movement. Regards Paul
  8. Think reverse would be useful if you had to drill out broken studs, you would need to buy left hand drill bits, the very action of drilling and heat generated will often back the broken stud out. Regards Paul.
  9. Fitted Securon 514/30 to my Vitesse convertible years ago as the retractor could be fitted at any angle. I fitted the retractor to the rear wheel arch but made a new reinforced mounting point but it is quite tight. Regards Paul.
  10. I'd say yes. My Mk1 Vitesse the nut is a nyloc half nut 5/8 unf from memory, plenty on eBay. Regards Paul
  11. When I changed all the flexible fuel hose on my Vitesse to gates barricade, from the club shop, earliest this year I moved the glass type filter from just after the tank to just before the carburetors. Started getting problems restarting the engine when hot after the car stood for a short while, no problems when the engine was cold, moved filter back to just after the tank and the problem disappeared. Regards Paul.
  12. Fitted the largest possible electric fan to my Mk1 2L Vitesse, but had to remove bits of the motor support to miss the water pump, with an adjustable revotec controller in the bottom hose. Engine fan removed, you can't have both, and welded fixings for the electric fan to the steel radiator sides as I didn't trust the through radiator fixings. Regards Paul.
  13. I bought the car for what it is, surely if someone needs to alter the car that much why buy it in the first place. Upgrade a very much misused word in my opinion and any perceived improvement open to question if you dare. Regards Paul.
  14. Agree about green stuff, had them in my Vitesse eventually changed them for a cheap white box set bought at an automobile, immediate improvement. Only fitted a servo, ratio 1.9:1, to reduce the pedal force. Regard. Paul
  15. But owners put in more modern ICE, gearboxes etc. including conversion to EFI, so isn't electric conversions another step?. Some conversions have very little of the original car left, apart from looking about like when it left the factory. It's their car to do with as they wish. Regards Paul.
  16. I swop a dash cam between a modern and a Vitesse, the default G setting protects all the files when in the Vitesse but none in the modern. It just sees the ride in the Vitesse as a series of shunts, l run my tyres, standard size, at the Triumph recommend pressure, never had a problem with the wear pattern. Regards Paul
  17. As per instructions, been in use for some years. Regards Paul.
  18. Pictures of my 68 Mk1 2L Vitesse no extra holes needed not even in the manifold and completely reversible. Regards Paul.
  19. Did over a 100,000 miles in a 1300, Opel's over head cam engine, Mk1 Astra three door which I bought nearly new. Went through several water pumps which was used to tension the cam belt, l converted the carburettor to manual choke from the electric one. Memories, but don't ask me what l did yesterday. Regards Paul.
  20. Presumably Silicone brake fluid will not. Regards Paul.
  21. Seats are at least fifty year old vinyl, bought one of the Chinese cobbler sewing machines of eBay during COVID to replace the rotten stitching in the hood cover and got carried away edging the carpets with vinyl. As I didn't want the gear lever to feel left out also made a leather gear lever gaiter, leather was offcuts from an upholsterers. Don't have a significant other to find me non Triumph jobs or expenses. Regards Paul.
  22. The ones I've seen are stapled on the top, l added a leather one made during COVID after looking at some utube videos. Regards Paul
  23. While waiting for my tea looked at Canley, Rimmer's and James Paddock all refer to them as wheel studs, as to counter boring the nut, could be done but would depend on how far for safety. Regards Paul.
  24. Never mentioned a bolt, helps to read it correctly before commenting. Regards Paul.
  25. If the threaded portion of the stud isn't long enough how does cutting the end of help?. Regards Paul.
