  1. Thanks Josef, Mine are the over-centre ones which hook over the solid fittings on the header frame. Cheers, Brett
  2. Hi Guys, Bought a new hood for my 67 Spit Mk3. The original metal rubber seal channel has rusted beyond use. They are no longer available so I bought a 3 piece channel for the mk4. A stupid question but does the seal go on the hood or the windscreen surround, it has been 40 years since it last had a hood fitted. Can anybody upload a photograph of it fitted? Thanks, Brett
  3. I used the original Triumph bracket and the Rimmer switch was short hence machining the switch so that it goes further through the bracket.
  4. Thanks Steve I will check that out. Cheers Brett
  5. Hi Guys I cannot get the tickover below 1000 rpm even with all linkages loose and screws backed right out. Do the butterflies have a right way round or can they be fitted back to front not seating properly allowing too much air in at tickover? Cheers, Brett
  6. Thanks Guys. Think I will leave it unless running is poor. Cheers.
  7. I bought a distributor off ebay suitable for all 1300s but the mk4 has different advance characteristics. Just wondering if mine is a mk4 where I can get the bits to convert it to a mk3 type. Mine is a Delco on a mk3 Spitfire. Cheers, Brett
  8. Hi Guys, When tuning experts discuss distributors they mention changing tbe bob weights and springs. I have never seen any advertised for sale. Anybody know who sells them? Cheers, Brett
  9. Hi Guys, My garage roof drips condensation on to my car in this sort of weather. Would it do any damage, namely rust, to use a car cover to keep my car dry and then remove it to allow ventilation when it is not cold? Cheers, Brett
  10. Thanks guys, nice to get your advice.
  11. Hi Guys, Watching car shows such as Wheeler Dealers they use timing lights which display the number of degrees on a small led screen. Will they work with older type cars like ours? Cheers Brett
  12. T-Cut is worth a try, thanks for the idea.
  13. Think I will rub it down and respray that area. Next time I will protect the area with a thick towel. Must make sure my wife is not watching! Cheers, Brett
  14. Hi Guys, Put some fuel in tank to test drive car and some got on to the bodywork next to the filler. It has reacted with the paint ruining the surface. The paint is from a Halfords rattle can. Is modern fuel incompatible with cellulose paint? Cheers Brett
  15. Thanks for all the info guys. Got horns working now using 6RA relay with two separate 12v feeds. Another job out of the way. Cheers Brett
  16. Hi Guys, Cannot get the horn to work and think it might be the relay, 50+ years old and very rusty externally. Horn relays are no longer available but I have a new 6RA relay going spare. Should this be wired up as per the std horn relay 1 power feed or should it be wired as per the O/D with 2 12v feeds? Cheers, Brett
  17. Certainly could. Suspect it must have a resistor like a mk4 loom making the 4th white wire.
  18. Hi Guys, Checked the ignition switch and I have 4 white wires, 5 with the OD one, not 3 as per the mk3 wiring diagram. Ran engine and when I turned it off at the switch the engine would not stop! Had to disconnect the earth at the battery. Further investigation required I think! Cheers, Brett
