Hi Johny,
I bought the 1/2 inch spring washer off ebay. I bought 2 types, 1 was thin similar to the circlip supplied in the washer kit and the 2nd had a wider cross section. I used the first one. Could have done with a bit of filing to make the cross section thinner but once I put it on I could not get if off to do it!
Cheers,

Just fitted the spring washer and it seems a good fit. Had to deform it to remove the spring effect. Have changed gear a few times and it is still in place. I will see how it goes.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I am going to get a couple of 1/2 inch spring washers off Ebay and try deforming them into a tight fit. I will let you know the success or otherwise.

Hi Johny,
I have not taken it off but it looks solid enough and undamaged. The groove on the lever is 0.520 inches diameter. Will see if I can get a better circlip.
Will buy a new stop pin too.

Hi Guys,
You were right the circlip had moved up the gear lever. It is a very loose fit and I am looking to tighten it some how.
My stop pin has a flat along one side, is this to allow it to run under the stop plate when selecting reverse gear?
Cheers,
Brett

Thanks Johny I shall take a look.

Hi guys,
My bolt is far lower down and does not line up with the stop plate as shown on the above drawing. Can the stop plate be lowered, about 1 cm in my case, or the gear lever raised?

Found it and downloaded. What a great set of documents! Thanks for the info.

Hi guys,
Selecting reverse in my Spit Mk3 has always been difficult. Before I refit the transmission tunnel I was wondering if anybody knew how to adjust the reverse stop pin to hopefully make selecting reverse easier?

Hi,
I bought some bushes for my starter motor but they looked very difficult to fit. Are they as difficult as they look?

Thanks Josef,
Mine are the over-centre ones which hook over the solid fittings on the header frame.

Hi Guys,
Bought a new hood for my 67 Spit Mk3. The original metal rubber seal channel has rusted beyond use. They are no longer available so I bought a 3 piece channel for the mk4. A stupid question but does the seal go on the hood or the windscreen surround, it has been 40 years since it last had a hood fitted. Can anybody upload a photograph of it fitted?
Thanks,
Brett

I used the original Triumph bracket and the Rimmer switch was short hence machining the switch so that it goes further through the bracket.

I machined mine in my lathe to make it fit.

Thanks Pete.

Thanks Steve I will check that out.

Hi Guys
I cannot get the tickover below 1000 rpm even with all linkages loose and screws backed right out. Do the butterflies have a right way round or can they be fitted back to front not seating properly allowing too much air in at tickover?

Thanks Guys. Think I will leave it unless running is poor. Cheers.

I bought a distributor off ebay suitable for all 1300s but the mk4 has different advance characteristics. Just wondering if mine is a mk4 where I can get the bits to convert it to a mk3 type. Mine is a Delco on a mk3 Spitfire.

Hi Guys,
When tuning experts discuss distributors they mention changing tbe bob weights and springs. I have never seen any advertised for sale. Anybody know who sells them?
