  1. Will do. As long as it is close when full and accurate when empty it will do. From my reading of the instructions I would need to do the custom setting in a garage forecourt! Cheers Brett
  2. Thanks Johny I will set it for that and see how it goes. Cheers Brett
  3. Hi Guys, Bought a Stack brand petrol gauge which needs to be set for the sender unit in use. Anybody know the fuel tank sender unit (Spitfire Mk3) resistance? Cheers, Brett
  4. Thanks Guys, I knew I would get good advice. Just in case I confused anybody the finishers I mean are those that go under the rear bumpers and are body coloured not chrome. Think I will try the mastic route, any recomendations? Cheers Brett
  5. Hi Guys, Another one of those gezillion jobs that still need doing! What is the best way of attaching the rear wing finishers? (The ones on the rear wing/rear valance seam.) Some sort of adhesive like araldite? Cheers Brett
  6. Thanks for the help guys. I will give your suggestions a try. Cheers Brett
  7. I have an ammeter wired in the solenoid operating system which shows about 2A when switched on. It never goes to to 20A at all. Cannot get a 3/16 in drill in to set it up though so will try something a little smaller on Sunday. The whole solenoid movement is definately not smooth though.
  8. Hi Guys, Working on the final million jobs to do on my mk3 Spitfire before I can use it again. The o/d solenoid seems very stiff and the brass lever seems to catch on the thread of the pull-on pull-off piston. Also when I turn it off it does not fully go back to its original position. Does the o/d oil pressure force it back when being switched off. Cheers Brett
  9. Thanks for all the replies, didn't think it would generate so many! Just checked my dash and the hole is perfectly round although my switch has a flat. Thanks for the offer Josef but I think I will have a go myself first. Thanks again. Brett
  10. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. I do not have the washer, what is it called so I can order it? Rimmer's do not have it mentioned in their catalogue. Cheers Brett
  11. Hi Guys, Any idea how to stop my whole ignition switch from turning when I turn the key? I have the bezel tight but it still turns after being used a couple of times. Spitfire Mk3. Cheers Brett
  12. Thanks guys. That solves the latest problem. Cheers.
  13. Hi Nonmember, Just the seat slide mounting holes. My mk3 ones are 30mm narrower than my mk4 ones which do line up. Assuming the floor well must be wider to match. Cheers
  14. Hi Guys, Just realised that my mk3 Spitfire has a mk4 floorpan. Will a complete mk4 carpet set fit or will it have to be a mix of mk3 and 4 sections? Cheers
  15. High Guys, Got the other hub off without dramatics. Jammed a large screwdriver in the universal joint joint and wound in the puller. A large bang and it was loose. Anybody seen some of the frightening hub removals on Youtube? One guy did not initially leave the hub nut on was happily screwing in the puller with his hand resting on it. I moved to the side of the screen on that one to avoid the puller. Another guy was using a hydraulic puller and when the hub let go the combination disappeared at high speed out of sight.
  16. Good idea Johny will give it a try this weekend. Cheers
  17. Hi Wagger, Thanks for reply. The problem I have is I cannot stop the shaft revolving when I try to remove the nut. I tried putting a strong screwdriver across the bolts and jammed against the floor but it just bent. Will try a stronger tommy bar next. Cheers
  18. Should be drive shaft end nut not bolt, sorry.
  19. Hi Guys, The hub puller arrived from Rimmers, it is built like a brick chicken house, almost a two handed job to lift it. Put handbrake on and into fourth gear. Put puller securely on and put 30mm socket on centre bolt and wound it in using hand power only. Hub came off! Wow piece of cake. Other side, cannot even undo the drive shaft end bolt! What a bummer. Back to reality. Cheers
  20. Thanks Guys, you have just put the fear of God into me now! I will let you know what happens.
  21. Hi Guys, Using the correct puller, ex-Rimmers, how difficult is it to remove the rear hubs? Will gentle tapping also be required to shock it off? Cheers
  22. Hi Guys, Tried fitting new longer studs to one of the front hubs but could not get the new ones in. Using nut and washers did not pull them any further in either. Took it to my local garage who used hydraulic press and got them in in less than 2 minutes! Free of charge too. Cheers
  23. Good idea Pete I will give it a try.
  24. Thanks Guys. Many years ago tried using incorrect hub puller and bent both hubs, had to get new shafts from a breaker. Looks like I will need to buy a puller, £126 from Rimmers. Cheers
