  1. Hi Guys, The puller is the one sold by Rimmers with 4 holes to line up with each of the wheel studs and a central screw. I believe it is the same as the one sold by the club. Many, many years ago I tried to remove the rear hubs using a 3 hole slide hammer but that just folded the hub over like a sandwich. did not move it at all on the shaft! Have not tried since. Why use Freelander or 12mm studs, are they longer as standard? The ones I have bought are 45mm long. Cheers
  2. Hi Clive, The weedy 3/8" ones. Demon Tweeks have some which are reasonably priced. I thought you had to remove the backplate to fit new ones irrespective of the size? Cheers George
  3. Bet the air was blue on that one. How long before your nail fell off?
  4. Hi Guys, I need to replace my std wheel studs with longer to fit my alloys. The general method seems to be remove hub and knock out the existing ones with a hammer. Is it that straight forward? I am currently trying to borrow a rear hub puller. I intend to fit the new ones using a strong vice to force them home. Anybody done this and what problems were encountered? Cheers.
  5. Hi Guys, Anybody got a rear hub puller that they can or are willing to lend me? I know that I can buy one but they are a bit pricey for a one off job and are unlikely to be used again. I have a set of alloys but the standard studs are too short and need replacing. Cheers.
  6. Hi Guys, Anybody tried the Carelli carpet set advertised for £129 on Ebay? I need a new carpets but I am reluctant to buy the moulded set at over £400 although it will be the best. Cheers.
  7. Hi Guys, Is it possible to adjust the bumper mounting points without if effecting the bonnet position. I am trying to fit my new front bumper, the 2 top bolts on the overrider fit OK but the bottom one does not and the wing bolts are too far forward. Any ideas? Cheers.
  8. Hi Peter, I will count them and report back. Cheers.
  9. Hi Guys, Got a replacement new one from Rimmer's about 6 weeks ago but due to having a new kitchen, new bathroom and a week away to recover from new kitchen and bathroom I only fitted it today. Guess what? It did exactly the same as the first one. Moved to the full extent of its travel and jammed there. I have fitted a second hand one from ebay and that works fine but does not turn the engine over quite as quickly. Anyway I will take it back to Rimmer's this time and get a refund. The last one took a month to replace after having to chase it up. Anybody else experienced this? Cheers.
  10. Hi Guys, Thanks for your comments. Got lucky yesterday, David, TSSC member 1969Mk3Spitfire, went to the Classic Car Show at Tatton and saw a pair of Mk3 seats for sale and texted me to let me know. I was there an hour later and purchased them for £160. The driver's needs recovering as it has a couple of tears but the passenger looks very good. Unfortunately they did not have the runners so I am still on the lookout for a driver's side one. At a pinch the passenger side one can be used temporarily but to get it in the adjuster handle has to be moved up hence unlocking it. But as it is only a mile to the trimmers it should not be a problem. Thanks again David, 1969Mk3Spitfire. Cheers.
  11. Hi Guys, Is there anybody currently renovating a Mk2 or Mk3 Spitfire that can lend me a driver's seat for a few weeks? I am at the stage where I need to get the tracking set and take the car to a trimmers to get a new soft top fitted but without a seat this will not be possible. Once this has been done I will look at fitting MX5 or Cobra seats if I cannot buy a genuine one. Cheers
  12. Thanks Dick have just sent am email.
  13. Apparently the driver's is different to the passenger's. Anybody know of one available anywhere? Contacted Spitfire Graveyard but I doubt they will have one either. Cheers.
  14. Thanks guys, that's saved some wasted money. Cheers.
  15. Hi Guys, Are both the seats identical, other than the seat slide, on a Mk3 Spitfire. Also will Mk4 runners work with them? I have a passenger seat and the only one I can see for sale is another passenger seat without the slide. Plenty of Mk4 slides for sale but no Mk3. Cheers
  16. Hi Pete, Colin, Yes I kept and used the old spacer, the thick one. I do have a thin one but did not use it as it was not used prior to the rebuild. It is a Lucas original (or copy of such). I have arranged to return it for a replacement. Cheers.
  17. Hi Guys, Just bought a brand new starter motor from one of the usual suppliers. Used it once and the pinion shot to the extent of its travel and jammed there. I cannot get it to go back. Wonderful!! I will have to call the supplier tomorrow and arrange for them to swop it. Has anybody ever seen this before? Cheers.
  18. hi Josef, Colin, I still cannot see how the clips attach to the vertical metal strip that the back panel locates on. I am thinking of using the screws and cups that are used to attach it to the b post. Cheers
  19. Thanks Duane, Very kind to offer. I have nothing at the moment but if I do I will be in touch. Cheers.
  20. Thanks Clive, I need a complete replacement as mine was destroyed by the body shop. I was looking on Ebay for one to renovate but none appeared for a Mk3 so this looks like my best bet. Thanks for confirming that it is not for a Mk4 as I was worried the vent positions may be wrong if it was. Cheers
  21. Hi Guys, Need a new dash top for my Spit Mk3 1967 and saw item 194505352449 on ebay. (Don't know how to do an actual link, stupid I know!) Is it the same product as the above? If not does anybody know anything about it and do they fit properly? Cheers
  22. Hi Josef, The clips are at the top of the quarter panel towards the fuel tank. I have nothing I can clip them too. Cheers.
