  1. It's not just the novelty for the 3 sync, the 4 sync gearbox I have has a worn out input shaft, and the constant gear to the lay shaft on both the input and lay shaft is razor sharp due to the failed bearings. The D Type O/D sandwich plate, and mainshaft is good so it's possible to marry what I have to another non O/D gearbox My 3 sync non O/D currently in the Spit does wine, but it was because I've been offered a good condition non O/D 3 sync that I was thinking of marry them together. Unless anyone out there wants to offer me a 4 sync 3 rail non O/D for a reasonable price that I could marry to my D Type O/D to? And yeah Pete if you if you could PM me with more details with the conversion that would be awesome
  2. I've got a Spitfire Mk3 currently non overdrive with a 3 sync gearbox. I recently brought a Spitfire MkIV 4 sync D type overdrive for the car, and I am aware I need to get a new prop shaft I like historical accuracy and the novelty of non sync in first gear, so I want to stick with the 3 syn gearbox and marry the overdrive to this gearbox. So my question is, can I use the mainshaft of the 4 sync overdrive gear in the 3 sync gearbox? Or will I need to buy a new mainshaft for the 3 sync gearbox?
  3. Fingers crossed it still exists. The last time I saw it it had patches over the rear wheel arches, and tired paintwork Cheers Steve
  4. A few years ago on the Dolomite forum I put up a post about my old 1850 Dolly, where are you now, it took a few years but I was surprised that it hadn't been scrapped, and after a more years the then current owner sold it back to me. Its now happily in my garage with my TR6 and will be kept for as long as I'm on this planet and loved and care for. Now can I make it 3 out of 3 and find out if a car that I didn't own, but was the very first classic car I drove with my dad, and nearly brought still exsist, and then second try and buy it. Well only buy it if the owner no longer wants it. So the story is like this, I got into classic cars and wanted a Triumph Spitfire as my dad used to work for Triumph. I ideally wanted a 1500 as my daily was a Ford Escort 1.6 and going down less than a 1.5 seemed backwards for a daily. So about 15 years ago I done some research and this 1972 1300 Brown Triumph Spitfire GHU718K came up for sale for a god price. very original, but tired paint. Me and dad when out to look at it and its was good, just needed a bit of love. Dad drove it, then I drove it, and it was the first classic car I'd ever driven. However I rejected it due to it needing a respray and me not having the money for that at the time. I did regret this later. Well anyway I found another Spit UCP682T a 1500 that became my daily, and I loved that car, but over 2 and a half years of daily use and parents that wouldn't let me put new sills on it when it failed it MOT it was sadly scrapped. So now older 15 years later with my old dolly back and a TR6, and living in my own house I want to know if GHU718K is still about and maybe for sale? Cheers Steve
  5. Hey guys, I was a TSSC member many years ago when I had a Spitfire (at somepoint I will rejoin again), and many happy years I had with that car. It has made an appearance on my YouTube channel. Since the Spitfire ( a much loved car) I've currently got a TR6 which I've had for the last 9 years, pretty much done everything to it including fitting a new CTM chassis to it. And an 1850 Dolomite, on a back burner for rebuild. I'm a mechanic and MOT tester for a living, but years ago got fed up with the way the motor trade was going with electrics on vehicles, although its still my day job I've known to take on classic cars on the side for club members. Lately I've been doing a YouTube channel, please subscribe to help it grow https://www.youtube.com/c/SteveDentonYouTubeChannel Cheers Steve
