  1. I helped run a Forum - it was on a site called Beoworld - a B&O related site . I found out about it as the owner at the time had 'borrowed' a large number of photos I had taken and given to another site. Once the misunderstanding was sorted, I noticed he had set up a forum which was really not doing anything. I discussed this with him and took over the role of moderator. I made it my duty to make sure every post was answered within 24 hours - this was when I owned a ridiculous amount of kit as well as manuals and the major topic of posts was how to get certain things to work or to suggest suppliers. I did this and this site quickly became the biggest B&O site in the world and was sponsored by B&O themselves - they closed their forum as they mainly got complaints and a number of their staff contributed to the site. We built up a large team of moderators with the same goal to make sure everything was answered promptly - even if the answer was that we didn't know but would endeavour to find out. The site was bought by a good friend of mine and continued to flourish. He sold it a few years ago and as I no longer collected the newer equipment, I gave up my role. It has just undergone a complete revamp and has been taken over by a repair company (I have used them and they are good - the forum seems to attract business) - they seem to be gradually finding their feet but it is not as flourishing as it was but early days. The secret however is the quick reply - and clearly it helps if you have someone or a number of people who know what they are talking about. I am afraid my knowledge of Triumphs is limited so I cannot volunteer. We attracted people in - the site was free - but we ran gold silver and bronze memberships. Bronze was free, silver was fairly nominal (I think £10 a year) and this gained one access to the service and user manuals (I had scanned a large number). Gold gave that but also a prize draw which won a number of prizes - the majority were relatively low cost but there would be a star prize which was well worth winning and usually a not bad second prize. The draw was originally monthly but gradually became less frequent though the prizes improved. Some of the best ones were donated by B&O. I imagine some of the bigger suppliers could donate the odd prize to the forum - maybe discount vouchers or branded items. Sorry to go on but I confess that I rarely use this forum as low traffic - I use the US Triumph Experience as it is far more lively.
  2. It looks more like Royal Blue than Sapphire - Royal is a shade or two darker and was a choice on the Mk3 - Sapphire Blue was introduced on the Mk4. So if not resprayed, I would suggest Royal Blue. I attach a picture of mine which is Sapphire Blue and it looks a bit lighter. Looks a decent car so I hope it brings you years of pleasure - I have had mine since 1999 though don't use it as much as I would like but retiring in 2 weeks so hope to use it a lot more!
  3. Just to say that I am finding this thread a wonderful read - makes me remember doing odd things to my car over the years - the fuel sender was a complete pain - has taken me 25 years to get it to read in a way that is slightly useful! Impressed you fit in though - I am just over 6'1" and have the seat right back and just fit - definitely better with the roof down though and extra inch of height on the windscreen would be nice functionally if not aesthetically! Not had the car out this year yet - but nearly yesterday - today has been a wash out though. Mine is completely non standard but is the way I like it!
  4. I agree that rusty bits rather spoil things - I changed bits for alloy parts from SC parts.
  5. I have the Classic Fuel Injection system fitted to my GT6 convertible. I have HS6 carbs. I had it fitted by the supplier and this was problematic - it broke down due to the linkage after 20 miles - was relayed home - have had the linkage changed (works fine now) but it took a long time to get the EFI working properly - the learning software did not seem quite as advertised - and I took it to a specialist who got it working well. Now works fine, starts on the button (I have put a starting button in the place the choke was!) and runs smoothly. Power and torque are fine - just had air box refitted so I suspect may need a slight tweak but has been completely reliable. Was it worth it? Probably not and if doing again would probably have just gone with the triple Weber set up I have sitting in the workshop - but would rather reduce the range!!
  6. That is the TV producers - Derek and family have all commented that they will lose money! Seem to get professionals to do the work so unsurprisingly very expensive. Confess to sometimes looking at the auction lists - the TVR last month almost had me going - luckily wrong colour interior!
  7. No they don't seem to do one - was considering changing the clock for an ammeter and changing the oil pressure gauge so that all the minor instruments matched, but feel that is maybe becoming slightly obsessive! No longer have a choke so fitted a starter button in its place!
  8. I use one on my gear lever - this did come with a similar badge but it lost some of the enamel so I replaced it with a lapel badge, suitably modified. The O/D is on the steering column.
  9. Yes - he sent me a number of swatches so I could choose the colour - we went for leather for the seats and vinyl for the other trim. Took a bit of time to organise but very happy with the results.
  10. Just having work done of my GT6 by Tim at Willow Triumph. Extremely communicative and sends good pictures and description of work. Up North but I had mine trailered to him. Mine is just finished - he has fixed all sorts of odd bodges done by other non triumph garages - and all through the pandemic.
  11. I used Park Lane - Owen was very helpful - he made up red leather seats and interior trim for mine. A few years ago now but have been very pleased with them. Highly recommended.
  12. The gauges and dash came from the club shop - the door caps came from the same supplier some years later and not from the shop - they are burr elm.
  13. The speedo does not have warning lights in it so the lights are ignition, oil pressure, main beam - and I have clean forgotten what the last one is!! ( Just remembered - fog light!!) I'll have to go and test it!! David Aspinall of Anglian Triumph built in in 1999 though I re-trimmed it in red leather some years later. The original hub was the black centre with visible bolt heads. Spitfire body on GT6 chassis so GT6 dash. No point in a radio as you couldn't hear it!!
  14. The original spacer on mine was not enough but a Jaguar one solved the problem. The motor stayed engaged with the original.
