  1. Just to say that I am finding this thread a wonderful read - makes me remember doing odd things to my car over the years - the fuel sender was a complete pain - has taken me 25 years to get it to read in a way that is slightly useful! Impressed you fit in though - I am just over 6'1" and have the seat right back and just fit - definitely better with the roof down though and extra inch of height on the windscreen would be nice functionally if not aesthetically! Not had the car out this year yet - but nearly yesterday - today has been a wash out though. Mine is completely non standard but is the way I like it!
  2. I agree that rusty bits rather spoil things - I changed bits for alloy parts from SC parts.
  3. I have the Classic Fuel Injection system fitted to my GT6 convertible. I have HS6 carbs. I had it fitted by the supplier and this was problematic - it broke down due to the linkage after 20 miles - was relayed home - have had the linkage changed (works fine now) but it took a long time to get the EFI working properly - the learning software did not seem quite as advertised - and I took it to a specialist who got it working well. Now works fine, starts on the button (I have put a starting button in the place the choke was!) and runs smoothly. Power and torque are fine - just had air box refitted so I suspect may need a slight tweak but has been completely reliable. Was it worth it? Probably not and if doing again would probably have just gone with the triple Weber set up I have sitting in the workshop - but would rather reduce the range!!
  4. That is the TV producers - Derek and family have all commented that they will lose money! Seem to get professionals to do the work so unsurprisingly very expensive. Confess to sometimes looking at the auction lists - the TVR last month almost had me going - luckily wrong colour interior!
  5. No they don't seem to do one - was considering changing the clock for an ammeter and changing the oil pressure gauge so that all the minor instruments matched, but feel that is maybe becoming slightly obsessive! No longer have a choke so fitted a starter button in its place!
  6. I use one on my gear lever - this did come with a similar badge but it lost some of the enamel so I replaced it with a lapel badge, suitably modified. The O/D is on the steering column.
  7. Yes - he sent me a number of swatches so I could choose the colour - we went for leather for the seats and vinyl for the other trim. Took a bit of time to organise but very happy with the results.
  8. Just having work done of my GT6 by Tim at Willow Triumph. Extremely communicative and sends good pictures and description of work. Up North but I had mine trailered to him. Mine is just finished - he has fixed all sorts of odd bodges done by other non triumph garages - and all through the pandemic.
  9. I used Park Lane - Owen was very helpful - he made up red leather seats and interior trim for mine. A few years ago now but have been very pleased with them. Highly recommended.
  10. The gauges and dash came from the club shop - the door caps came from the same supplier some years later and not from the shop - they are burr elm.
  11. The speedo does not have warning lights in it so the lights are ignition, oil pressure, main beam - and I have clean forgotten what the last one is!! ( Just remembered - fog light!!) I'll have to go and test it!! David Aspinall of Anglian Triumph built in in 1999 though I re-trimmed it in red leather some years later. The original hub was the black centre with visible bolt heads. Spitfire body on GT6 chassis so GT6 dash. No point in a radio as you couldn't hear it!!
  12. The original spacer on mine was not enough but a Jaguar one solved the problem. The motor stayed engaged with the original.
  13. Why not get a GT6 convertible ? - all the benefits of a straight six and the wind in the hair as well. I had mine built for me 15 years ago by David Aspinall at Anglian Triumph. It was shown at the 1999 Classic Car Show at the NEC on the TSSC stand. Still going strong and well worth the initial cost.
  14. I insure with Lancaster at present but used to use FJ. They sent me a flyer this year suggesting I try them again but once we went through the car details (unchanged from when they insured it last) they said they no longer insured this type of car - GT6 convertible - professionally done by Anglian Triumph in 1999.
