  1. Hi Nautam, Unfortunately yes as I've been promoted which means i'll be travelling a lot so can't really enjoy it for the summer. I want it to go to a buyer who will truly look after it. Once i'm back in UK for good then i'll probably do a MK3 or GT6 Project
  2. Thanks Pete. Yes the needle spec has also been changed. Sounds absolutely amazing - just the right growl as I wanted.
  3. Hello Chaps, I thought i'd update you all now that my car is back from being pampered. Carried out the below works: - Full service & Crypton engine tuning - Brand new full exhaust system - Gearbox and clutch replacement - New indicator and lighting column switches - New stainless steel kick plates - New Wash/Wiper Knob - New black with red piping boot lining - New Jaeger Smiths Instrument chrome bezel including clock - New outer chrome headlight rims - New Windscreen capping - New chrome window winder handles - New Wiper blades - Stainless steel wheel trim - New rear view mirror assembly - New dash top ashtray - LED footwell lighting when doors open - K&N Pancake filter - New carburettor jets and needles - New ignition coil & HT leads - New Accelerator cable - Radiator hose & inlet manifold hose/clips - New carburettor heat shield - New Kenwood KMM-BT504DAB Bluetooth stereo installed - New JL Audio JL C2-525X Evolution 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers installed - Hardtop re-sprayed with new rubber seal and chrome trim - Untie rear brake hoses from rear spring and position away from driveshafts - Secure fuel and brake lines to chassis at rear of car - Replace handbrake pull off spring mount brackets on backplates by welding and fitting new springs Hope you like the pics!
  4. 9. Indicator is not self cancelling when turning left, it seems to work when turning right. 10. Replace windscreen seal 11. Install radio and speaker wires - I can provide the units @ 116 12. Heater vents in dash rusty - need to be cleaned or replaced. I've contemplated and music is always a feel good factor so will be installing audio @ £112 and I may re-do the exhausts @£125 (installation) as it's ear-numbingly loud! (pic attached) Thanks Nautam - im doing lates this week so unfortunately won't be able to attend.
  5. Just to keep you in the loop guys - the following works is requested to be done. Hi Dale, For now you can go ahead with: 1. Servicing Car @ 250 2. Tuning @ 85 4. Install ordered parts @ 350 5. Fit carpet set in boot - free of charge 6. fix heater knobs if you can tell me the price @ ? 8. Install footwell lighting if you can tell me the price @ ? (should be fairly straight forward as seen before) 13) incorrect/insecure routing or rear brake hoses & fuel line at rear under car @ 110 14) accelerator is very heavy/stiff and noisy. It probably requires a new cable and some lubrication elsewhere in the mechanism @ 50 If the gearbox price comes at £600 VAT inclusive then I would like to proceed, instead of fixing the main beam and indicator + adding audio which works out roughly the same given the units are expensive.
  6. Thanks Angelfire. Will this work as I'm on a budget, its certainly smaller than my existing system: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Spitfire-MK3-MK4-1500-MK1-MK2-Stainless-Steel-sports-exhaust-System/372305080302?hash=item56af1cafee:g:I0oAAOSw1JVaCz0P
  7. @Pete Lewis Exhaust photos attached - I think it is an Sports Exhaust. Fortunately I will only do local driving and not so much on the motorways so it's kind of bearable - however when I drove it back to London from Leicester my ears were ringing! I will see if it's within my budget and perhaps get them replaced for my second phase of updates i.e soft top, alloys + tyres in the near future. btw would love to see your guys rides too!
  8. @Casper - Thank you so much for that, now I know the garageman can't charge me silly money! how long have you been a Triumph fan for? @ShaunW - That was amazing fatherly advice and it really made me feel that this forum is showing genuine care and respect for eachother. I am so thankful for that.Totally agree I need to start getting my hands dirty and I will order the toolset now. For the first couple of months my hands are really tied up and I want to make sure that the motor starts off in great condition from the get go, anything after I will do my own DIY. I have saved a little budget to get everything mechanically sound and also ordered a few bits and bobs online so that I don't get ripped off by the Garage. So far i've ordered: HARDTOP REAR SCREEN SEAL WINDSCREEN CAPPING HEADLAMP RIM REAR VIEW MIRROR B'POST CAPPING ASH TRAY ASSEMBLY TREAD/KICK PLATE 'TRIUMPH' LOGO Steel Chrome Gauge Dials Footwell Lighting Hard Top form Ebay which is currently being painted I am quite pedantic when it comes to attention to detail - so the above things were needed to really make everything look up to scratch, now my focus is on engine and suspension. This is the to do list i'll be taking to the garage as I don't really have the time to get my hands dirty, and just want the end product so I can drive it out in the Summer around the corner. P.S The roof will be addressed in the future. 1) Service the car 2) Bad smell of oil / petrol coming in to the cabin - could possibly be a unused vent pipe. 3) Driver side door knocking when opening - bolt needs tightening 4) Install ordered parts: Chrome headlight rims windscreen cap, post caps, kick plates rear view mirror chrome rings to gauges ash tray re-do any missing or rusted bolts/screws windscreen metal trim" 5) Fit carpet set in boot - with light 6) Fix heater knobs - not moving 7) Gauge lighting - make sure all bulbs are working 8) Install footwell lighting 9) Indicator is not self cancelling when turning left, it seems to work when turning right. 10) Straighten gauges and and change bezels to chrome 11) Install radio and speaker wires - I can provide the units 12) Exhaust is too loud - can this be quitened? Picture attached - got my delivery today from Rimmerbros, each item was packaged in brown paper - reminded me of grocery shopping in the states! Will keep you guys posted for what happens this Friday at Moordale Motors
  9. thanks thescrapman - im hoping to get most the things sorted once my car goes in - mainly mechanical and also some cosmetic things i've already purchased online. Any advice on the size of alloys, as I don't want anything to rub or ruin the driving?
  10. I have booked my car in for the 18th May at Moordale motors for a service - full service with parts is £200, not sure if thats worth it. Another question I had is that I want to purchase the minilite wheels - are there any issues if I go for 6J X 14 i.e rubbing or additional modifications or shall I stick to 5.5J X 13? 175 / 70 seems to be favourable for the tyres.
  11. Thanks Pete Lewis - I am on shift that day so will be very hard unfortunately. @NonMember - Lo and Behold! it works you beauty Wipers are working. the beam is switching from main and dip. when pulling towards me the flash is not working - however I tested this with the key in the ignition, havent tested upon start. Didn't know forums can be so helpful - you guys are great!
  12. @Angelfire, Thank you for the wiring diagram after reading your opinions I may skip the hazard light option now. @KevinR - You are correct it is an aftermarket replacement as the black one was deterioted I was told, I personally prefer the wood effect so thats all good. Thank you so much for thosel links I will consider ordering those for myself. LOL at your last comment - I hope not I wanted them so that I can say thank you to the vehicles behind me who give me way @Clive - Yes I may consider leaving them out for now, yes the high beam does not work as well as the Wipers, are these controlled by the same left hand stalk? I notice there is a flick switch under the steering wheel but that apears to control the fan. @Pete Lewis - many thanks for your suggestion, I am not so tech savvy so do you have a link to the side sheild products? I would love to get a toolkit and do all these things myself as it is such great satisfaction. Unfortunately I don't have a garage and wife has just given birth to our first daughter which gets me tied up most the times. @Nautam Mistry - Many thanks for your compliment and I hope you complete your car as you like it Yes I called JY classics but unfortunately they are booked until July which means I'll miss most of the summer enjoying my Spit. I have called Moordale Motors and they are kind enough to book me in for this Friday 18. I see what you mean about originality - best to keep things simple! deffo need to get those Wipers and high beam sorted as driving it back from Leicester to London was a nightmare in the rain @John D - Your help is greatly appreciated I will let the garage know to look into this as it really makes my drving experience very unpleasant and I have ended up having headaches with that smell. oh and thanks for the compliment! @Pete Lewis - Your last comment I will share this with the garage (probably know this already) to make sure they fix anything that is broken. All - I really feel part of the family already and your input is very valuable to a newbie like me, I also have a W123 280 Merc but I understand this is a very different playing field. I am thinking of ordering the (attached) parts ready for the garage to install as it may work out cheaper. Spoke to Dale at Moordale and he's been very friendly and welcoming.
  13. Many thanks Kevin. Do you think this will work? https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-159905A Would you also have the wiring diagram?
  14. Thank you Angelfire & NonMember. 1) Oil / Petrol smell - I'll check if there are any leaks or holes thats making it worse at the garage this week. 2) I will order the part now: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-724021 - do I need anything else with it or should installing this break free the 2 knobs that are stuck? 3) I'll ask the garage if they can fix it hopefully won't need a new indicator switch? 4) Sorry I mean to say high beam lights - don't seem to have this. and as for hazards - which kit will I need from this link? https://rimmerbros.com/ItemSearch--search-Hazard--srcin-1 5) K&N filters, New shock absorbers, suspension springs etc...anything that will make the ride a little more comfortable to drive (less rattly) and healthy maintenance wise, I am going to get it services so I don't mind spending a few quid to renew some parts as the last owner only drove it 50 miles in the last 2 years locked up nicely in his plush garage. 6) Thanks! I will call up Moordale tomorrow and see whether they can book me in sooner than later. anything on the Wiper switch query?
