  1. Thanks all for the responses. I have been advised that the gearbox is off a Triumph 2000 non overdrive. Graham
  2. Thanks for the responses. As you can see from the photo's, there are no numbers stamped on the top cover, however there is a number stamped by the clutch operation lever ....... MB 18746 Graham
  3. Help: I recently purchased an engine, gearbox and a diff that was fitted to a Bond Equipe 2L. If I change the bell housing on the gearbox, will it be suitable for my Vitesse 2L? Does anyone know where I can find the Identification number on the Bond gearbox? Many thanks
  4. Hi Pete, Many thanks for your response. Upon further investigation you are quite correct, there is a hydraulic pressure switch in the brake system. Now I can proceed with the restoration with peace of mind. Regards Fadger.
  5. I am currently restoring a 1963 Vitesse 1600 Convertible. I have just come up against a hurdle and it's to do with the brake switch. The bracket or brake pedal doesn't have any mounting points for the switch to attach to, can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Graham
  6. Hi Paul, Pete and Colin..... thanks for you recommendations, I will certainly give them a try. Incidentally, I purchased some items off gumtree last week, the transfer of funds was done, since then, I haven’t heard anything from the seller after me contacting him every day since. I think I’ve been scammed!
  7. Hi fellow members. I am new to the forum and the TSSC , I fact I only joined yesterday. I am visiting the Uk from Australia looking after my sick brother for a couple of weeks and whilst here I can source parts for my Vitesse 1600 that I am restoring. I am looking for three sections of anodised bumpers in fair condition..... Front middle, front passenger and rear drivers. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks Graham
  8. Thank you gentlemen for your comments, all of which I have taken on board. With a bit of luck I hope to source a MK1 engine?
  9. Thanks for comments, it’s very much appreciated. If it’s a later model 2000, which inlet and exhaust manifold will I have to use?
  10. I recently purchased a Vitesse 1600 convertible in need of a complete restoration. Upon dismantling the engine and drive train, the engine was found to be unusable due to water sitting on top of the pistons causing severe damage to the cylinders (and most other parts). I need to source another Triumph engine that will fit without any major modifications. As I'm based in Australia I will have very limited options due to availability. The car has a GT6 MK1 gearbox (with a D type overdrive) and a 4:1 diff.......Will an engine out of a Triumph 2000/2500 fit, if so, what else will I need to change/modify?
