Thanks John.
IF I win it at the auction, (I have set myself a budget and won't exceed that, as I have an idea of costs to get it how I would like), I will need a few ideas on how best to remove YSoYD and Oil cooler and any possible pitfalls that may incur. My expected use is more as a weekend tourer and not a thrashy race machine, so I will not be looking to hammer the engine at all. I will be looking more towards reliability than anything else (famous last words?).
I have not owned a Triumph myself, but I have always wanted one after my folks having a 13/60 when I was a kid, so I am pretty green when it comes to the quirks of owning one, although I do vividly remember the old man cursing at length under his breath most weekends, when trying to find an elusive rattle or other niggly issue......I am sure that is where I learnt most of my Anglo Saxon vocabulary from!
I have had old British cars in the past (Mini, Viva, Hunter, MGB GT) and I am more than familiar with the usual oil leaks and general maintenance issues, such as roadside repairs and having to keep a modest, yet fully functional collection of tools (usually a half inch spanner, a pair of pliers and a hammer), in order to remain mobile.
No doubt, IF i do make the purchase, I will be on here asking some bloody stupid questions....
Regards
Dave
