  1. Do you mean the two radiator mounts where the chassis rails meet the front bar t-stag? If so what does your radiator sit on or have you got a non standard set up?
  2. Unfortunately it looks to be made more difficult by the design of the the sports unit as its inlet pipe seems to be straight instead of having the dog leg of the original. Cant believe how theyve got it so wrong although I see its the same one sold for both Mk2 and 3 while the original is different for each model...
  3. Is it possible to get the back box a bit further to the right so that its mount meets the body bracket as I dont like the existing fixing much? There should be a rubber hanger strip between the two or maybe you could just uses a rubber spacer and a bolt straight through so its held more rigidly. Either way a second support is essential just in case that body bracket breaks...
  4. Still its better than Love Island, Naked Attraction, Big Brother, Pimple popper and a myriad of other reality TV programmes eh?
  5. At least they got the marque right🤣
  6. It looks like you have the more expensive sport back box which being smaller doesnt have the second support shown here on the standard item. To straighten yours up I can only think of putting and additional hanger from the diff to the centre pipe as is used on Vitesse and Heralds...
  7. What can we do to get this "swirl" in our inlet manifold/heads then John?
  8. Do a compression test, dry and wet if necessary, to see if grinding valves would be a good idea while the head is off...
  9. No, no, I meant from the problem you describe I dont think the issue is that the pump is too small. Could it just be that the engine flooded after stalling and thats why it took a while to restart?
  10. Yes that is good especially if the head hasnt had any valve work either...
  11. They would be Bar where one equals 14.5psi so your readings look pretty good...
  12. Wouldnt have thought thats a pump that cant keep up with demand as the symptom is usually cutting out at high speed going up a long hill ie. a sustained high flow is required. If that happens you slow down, the carbs refill and you carry on ok...
  13. Ah ok I'll stop worrying about mine then😁
  14. What were the symptoms Paul?
  15. Has the gearbox been raised as high as possible as well? Sometimes the mounts deteriorate, especially on non OD, and it droops...
  16. Only the clamp I posted earlier and now I think about it with the drain holes in the filter box I really cant see the hoses help much either at idle or going along☹️Perhaps the best thing is you can tell people they boost inlet pressure (seem to remember motorcycles had something similar at one stage)...
  17. Weren't Solex European or something so might have used metric?
  18. Good news on the fitting and I reckon the suppliers need to know👍 The pump is strange (3/16 is brake pipe size) and so to stop the swaging effect it sounds like you might have to solder the olive right on the end...
  19. Any ideas why anyone would change the carrier cups position like that Iain? Seems crazy...

    Air intake

oh no now its got out we'll have threads disappearing all over the shop!
  21. It'll look great if nothing else! Dont forget to have the good drain hole you mentioned earlier in it as this is to allow fuel to run out in case of a carb float valve failure (the overflow exit is in the inlet face of each carb)...
  22. Only need a cap to stop coolant from slopping out as you go round corners! Reckon it would mean you could leave your hoses even longer Colin - any cracks you can wrap in sellotape😁
  23. I know its a very involved subject and this is Wikipedia's take on it: 'Turbulence in the intake helps to break up fuel droplets, improving the degree of atomization. Better atomization allows for a more complete burn of all the fuel and helps reduce engine knock by enlarging the flame front. To achieve this turbulence it is a common practice to leave the surfaces of the intake and intake ports in the cylinder head rough and unpolished'
  24. Yes dont they recommend not polishing inlet manifolds too much but leave a bit of surface roughness to give some turbulance to aid mixing👍
  25. Thats the thing with waterless there should be no more hose bangs (or head coolant leaks either) as theres no pressure. For the same reason the rad cap never has to open to vent excess off to the bottle as the engine warms up...
