  1. OVER AND OUT I think that's me done now, seem us freeloaders are now fair game and suddenly became second class citizens. To be frank the members (maybe even the freeloaders) left a bad taste in my mouth when they bullied Marc Seniac off this forum just because he was a bit enthusiastic and didn't always post Triumph stuff, so he was quite frankly hounded off this site by certain people. I will continue to look in but will no longer contribute unless Kevin decides to close the whole site to the freeloaders. I won't quit as I really enjoy posts by BFG, Colin Lindsay, Pete Lewis, et all but maybe its time to buy a MGB. Don't worry dougbgt6 I won't let the door hit me on the arse on my way out...
  2. I agree, have your members only area within the forum but 'spotted' and 'out and about in my car' come on really? I am active on many forums Porsche/BMW/Audi various old car forums, F1 and football forums none of which require me to be a member, they make money by sponsorship and advertising. I take that old adage that any club that would have me as a member is not one I want to join!! 😃 my choice, I don't like clubs its not that I am tight or skint its just clubs are not for me. Not being a member means I miss out on discount parts, the monthly newsletter discount Insurance and club meets etc and I accept that. But to be excluded from an 'out and about in your car' thread!! come on your having a giraffe!!! Have your secret squirrel area that's fine but make it clear that is for members only to discuss club business and not non club matters such as John D suggested were wrongly put in this section like 'will MX5 seats fit my car'. I think I make a valid contribution to this forum and have both asked and given advice, works both ways!! I don't really accept that I am freeloading off the backs of the members...
  3. Well Kevin I was to offer support to a member who was about to embark on a substantial road trip that passes my door, if he needed emergency repair facilities on route I was happy to help out. I didn't ask if he was a member of your club or not I was happy to help a fellow Triumph owner, so if you think stopping someone from offering help on a harmless 'Out and About in my Car' thread is offering something extra to your members I think you have got it spectacularly wrong. I chose not to join a club (any club) but I am very willing to help other owners out wherever I can.
  4. Why on earth would you want to keep that topic private?
  5. Would seem it only the 'Out and About in my Car' that I can't add a reply...
  6. Topic is Green Flag to the rescue in out and about in my car...
  7. And yet I can reply to my own post!!
  8. For some reason I cannot reply to posts, is this something to do with the recent membership changes? I wanted to offer help to someone but I have no box to reply under the post?? yet I can start a new topic?
  9. Pleased to see you back Pete, missed your detailed descriptions of works done...
  10. A Triumph Herald that has had more than £60,000 lavished on its renovation is going under the hammer next month – for what is likely to be a tiny fraction of that amount. Hampson Auctions is selling the 1967 12/50 saloon in its 11 March sale at Mavericks in Flintshire and comes with more than 1000 photographs chronicling its five-year restoration between 1998 and 2003. The fully re-built Triumph also comes with 37 separate multiple-page documents detailing every expense undertaken by its former owner, adding up to a total of £60,512 – or more than £96,000 in today’s money. Hampson’s managing director, Zach Hamilton, told Classic Car Weekly: ‘The quality of this car is unbelievable – I don’t know if it’s the best Herald out there but it’s certainly the best example that I’ve ever come across. It has been restored meticulously with every nut and bolt accounted for and with photographs covering absolutely everything. ‘It’s a real labour of love, especially when you consider that you could have bought two Jaguar E-types at the time for the amount that the restoration cost. ‘I can see that whoever gets this Herald is really going to enjoy it – I can just picture them rolling back the Webasto roof and having a blast in it on their way to a show.’ The restoration included a bare metal re-spray, a process that involved the shell being sandblasted, the chassis fully refurbished and powder-coated and the engine re-built. Since then the Herald – which the restorer sold due to ill health – has been kept in dry storage and MoT records indicate that it has only covered 600 miles since 2005. The Petrol Blue classic will also be given a voluntary MoT ahead of the auction. Classic Car Weekly’s markets editor, Richard Barnett, reckons that the unique Herald will sell for more than its £6-8k pre-sale estimate, given the market’s current appetite for classics with big-money restorations behind them, including a 1959 Ford Consul that made £31,700 last October, a 1961 Vauxhall Cresta that sold for £29,250 and a Triumph GT6 auctioned away for £40,500.
