  1. I have been watching the updates for long while as you know Karl, and you have the theory "practice makes perfect" is true. Your welding and fabrication skills are great and much faster... Well done that man Tony.
  2. I was thinking about this last night Pete,, surely the effort needed to turn the steering will be the same either by a strong person, wimp (me) or power assisted?? I can't really see what the difference would be. You are right about the tre's being different Though just can't think whether it was just an upgrade for the bigger rack? Tony.
  3. Put them on Fleabay Paul i'm sure they will sell quickly. I will keep things crossed for your next oil change. Tony.
  4. I had electric power steering fitted to my Dolomite 1850 by https://easysteer.co.uk My only regret is not having it done sooner, it made the car a pleasure to drive and park. It is adjustable as well so you choose how heavy or light you want it. I have rotator cuff ligament problems and it was either sell the car or bite the bullet. The bullet won Tony.
  5. I would Paul, but after all its your car..... I still think it was a one off as you hadn't had problems before. Tony.
  6. I think the problem you had Paul was just a one off, when we spoke i said i had only seen the problem a couple of times in my life. I still use the Mann filters and haven't had any problems. I still think about yours though Tony.
  7. I got my bits from Paddocks (for a Stag) mainly because they are close to me and i can collect. Glad you are sorted Brian. Tony.
  8. They aren't Dolomite Rob, i think you are right with the 1300 fwd. Tony.
  9. Hi Mike, take washers off the bolt flatten the bracket and put the bracket on the back of the alternator to adjust it. Forget the new bracket just using what you have in your pictures. Tony.
  10. Hi Mike, would the old bracket not fit the other side of the alternator? I notice the old bracket has a slight kink so flattened out it should fit without the need for washers. Tony.
  11. Funny you should say that Pete, i am a believer in that as well and two of my cars are still on the original fuel hose's and they will stay that way until something leaks. Tony.
  12. Welcome to the forum Ian, i'm sure you will be able to do some jobs minor jobs yourself soon after joining the forum. You only have to ask A friend has just bought a Spitfire a couple of months ago, same colour and wheels as yours and he hates the wheels already as he keeps hitting his shins on the spinners..... He still loves the car though. Tony.
  13. So good and bad news then Cliff.... A shame the caliper packed up so soon. Tony.
  14. After the test drive a call to the supplier sounds in order.... Tony.
  15. The invoice to pay Tony.
  16. Does the sqeak happen to be on the same side Cliff? Tony.
  17. If you have fitted new pads Cliff? Try taking the pads out and putting a slight chamfer around the pad material, that should stop it. Tony.
  18. Same here, i thought it was the diff whining. Cars are much quieter on your own. Tony.
  19. Hi Brian, Have a look at this Youtube video. I found it really helpful when doing my Stag carbs, a bit long winded but he does explain things as you watch what goes on. Tony.
  20. You mean you don't pull the quilt over her head? What a gentleman.... Tony.
  21. The centre brush isn't simply stuck in the up position Paula? It wouldn't be the first time. Tony.
  22. Sounds as if you are on the right track with fuel filters Paula. One thing to do after is take it for another run to try to get it to stop and if it does squirt some brake cleaner direct into the carb. If it starts its fuel, the air filter looks easy to get off with the wing nut. Tony.
  23. The spring does go behind the door card as BW says. Tony.
  24. The wire coat hanger is the easiest method, put coat hanger in with a side cutter crimp. when in to the crimp simply bend and snap off. No more lost pins. Tony.
