  1. Totally agree, 45C in mine to/from Silverstone; but do not wear shorts under any circumstances (tunnel heat!). Dick
  2. John, Not quite for the seafarers out there. Knots (Kns) for Nautical Miles per hour, which is different to Kts (normal, whatever that is) and of course a nautical mile is different to a statute mile the one in everyday land lubber use and the Data Mile. That of course is before you get to cables (200 yds) or shackles as a length of anchor cable (chain) which is 15 fathoms. Dick the Ancient (but still practicing) Mariner who had a v hot day to/from/at Silverstone yesterday
  3. Sue, Bad luck, but it happens. I know the orientation is different but I had an issue with the GT6 and fuel supply that kept getting worse. Peering in to the tank I could see something that did not look right and managed to hook out a piece of plastic about an inch square that was floating about. Assume it was something stuck a fuel filling nozzle or .... Dick
  4. Correct, Triumph White is A19.
  5. Paul, This is the one I used and fitted fine. Dick https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/et143-letter-punch-set/
  6. Only time I use mine in anger is to get a bit more cooling water through the system when stuck in Classic Le Mans traffic. Rest of the time SOP is both rears and driver's window open! Dick
  7. But it's No Mow May, so sit back and do ........ https://www.countryfile.com/news/no-mow-may-why-you-should-lock-up-your-lawnmower-on-1st-may/
  8. John, Actually a 'Master Gunner', who had a Gunner's Mate as his underling to look after the Gunner's Party. Pedantic I know but as I qualified as Master Gunner in 1974..... Even more disconcerting is that my first, short, appointment was as the Master Gunner of HMS VICTORY where one of my claims to fame was escorting HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother to the heads which were in a block ashore! There is more to that tale but the rest is reserved for a shoreside dit. Dick ps Is that thread drift or what.....🙂
  9. IIRC on the back of the pad and then 'cleaned' finger on the caliper side of the shim. Dick
  10. That's the approach I took a GT6 front brake hose. If it helps, a photo:
  11. I used Ceratec with my 1144 pads last year and have no brake problems or squeals since then. Dick
  12. Martyn, very often the easiest is to give them a call. Dick http://www.spitbitz.co.uk/
  13. Second the recommendation for Mike Papworth and Coventry is not that far from you. His details are in The Courier. Dick
  14. "Everyone is welcome at the TSSC HQ Museum, we have ample private parking and our doors are open Mon - Thu 9.00am to 5.00pm (other times by special arrangement). We're lucky to occupy an extensive building set in lovely village surroundings just outside Market Harborough, Leicestershire." Taken from the Website under 'The Club' and then Museum. Dick
  15. I must be getting old/sad but got distracted from the passenger by a fuel gauge reading empty and standard of punctuation at the end. Dick
  16. I have been with Peter James through the TSSC and the recovery man from the AA was very professional and 'understanding' of a classic. Dick
  17. I have used both of these products from Aldi and they worked fine.
  18. Albeit for a GT6 John Thomason's 'Guide to Originality' says " ...the AC Delco type of oil filter was identified by its plain, silver painted bowl." Dick
  19. May have missed something but you do not have wire wheels fitted by any chance? Dick
  20. Followed all the instructions and it happened within the hour, thank you Kevin. Dick
  21. Steady on, some of us do that in a GT6. It, and the car, regularly gets a smile and then comments like 'that smells just like my Grandad used to smoke". 🙂
  22. Like Nigel I have never had the problem you are worried about in my 1967 GT6 with an unlagged 6-3-1, and that is over about 15 years of year round use home and abroad. Heat shields fitted. Dick
  23. We have had that locally for several years now and initial scepticism has worn off. Quick check online and rarely have to wait more than a couple of hours (cuppa time) for a slot and none of that queuing for ages on a Saturday/Sunday. The fly tipping remains.
