  1. Cheers Pete, yeah I cant wait to drive it, but Im also really enjoying the restoration work 👍🏻
  2. Had a weeks break while I did some diy jobs on our garden fence and built a new rear step back at the car now. Trial fitting the rear lower valance I discovered Id done the boot floor section 10mm too long so was an easy fix and it fits lovely now Im repairing other side now before fitting it. Its great just to cut the rust sandwiches out that are thick with black tar lol
  3. Hello What are your doors like do they need any work or reskinning? Good advice from Chic Doig to me was fix whatever needs doing to the door then align everything else to it, the sills and bonnet and rear section front of arch making up the sill. Best way to get nice gaps etc. Brace the door arpeture brfore cutting floor and sills off. Id put a brace across too to make sure A and B post stay in same position. Use brushable seam sealant 👍
  4. More done, rear os quarter all finished pic before I cleaned up etc, had to cut rear quarter off to gain access and repair what I took off Other bits to grind slightly then this side is done
  5. I like the 60amp alternator, and the look of it too, Ill look for one of those when Im ready to do the mechanicals cheers Like the look of pic 1 and 4 front spoilers, are you going to make it or have it made/printed? Quite fancy one for mine
  6. Hello 👍😎 A Vincent Hurricane, that sounds bloody fantastic! It does 300mph stood still! What a great name Ive only just joined recently too but welcome and good luck with your build Iain.
  7. Just welded in and cleaned up ready to fit rear lower wing/sill section
  8. Haha yes a complete change of direction, but its worked out nice for me Practice and more practice welding 👍
  9. Hi Mark Yes, I thought theres loads of room in there so I had an offcut of a mini door repair section and it fitted straight in so welded it to brace the A post a bit. Ive been taking my time getting the gaps nice, plenty fettling to each panel etc, the outer sill has had plenty adjustments but its been welded on today finally. The lower B post was a bit thin so I cut that off today and spent a good few hours making a new one but it fits perfectly and prepped and painted inside ready to weld on and fit the rear end sill lower wing repair bit. Ill take a pic tomorrow and upload it Cheers
  10. Are you using a gas mig welder? No gas migs are for thicker steel really if not. It takes time and practice and getting to know how to set the machine etc. I used to use oxy/acetylene, learned in college during the 80s on a 6 month welding course then city and guilds light vehicle body repairs, couldnt get a job and ended up as a dental ceramist, but kept the car repairs as a hobby, I reckon Ive welded to the moon and back lol. Anyway I needed to learn the mig welding way, I just watched a few videos on tuition and bit the bullet and bought the equipment then practiced. Sill going on tomorrow it takes time to prepare and paint everything inside etc
  11. Hello Graham, got all the other side to do too yet, door bottom and skin too, then theres the rot in the rear bottoms and inner wing bottoms, rear panel repair or replace. Tailgate opening lip for the seal has rotted too lol, new tailgate needed. Front bulkhead needs investigating but definitely needs attention on the master cylinder panel. Other than that not far off on the tub lol then the chassis 🤣 Bonnet is new, good fit yes I like it and I fitted the hydraulic struts, good price for those, 75 quid posted so well happy. The old bonnet is going tomorrow so thats the vat paid for on the new one gulp 🤣😎 Just keep doing a bit each day now
  12. More work and pics, getting there slowly but surely front floorpan steel was more tired than I thought so made and welded that in too 😎 Sill getting prepped and painted inside tomorrow before welding it on, after a day and half getting my gaps Im happy with
  13. My GT6 roof is bad under the headlining, discovered once removed it to do the front lip. In between the headlining bars there were strips of sound deadening stuff in plastic! I dont know if thats standard but its obviously attracted condensation and moisture, Ive had to weld a few holes basically in the middle of my roof lol
  14. Panel section making today, difficult area upside down welding hate that lol
  15. I just stick a cut off bit of 40mm box section in my big vice, draw the sections on where I want them in situ while I trim to fit the section then bash with a ballpane hammer, as long as theres shaped strength to it Im happy but they look ok too, cheers Graham. Seen a bloke on YouTube use wooden formers and gripped them in a vice, they looked much neater and he used an air chisel
  16. Thanks very much for those pics Nick, very appreciated. Mine is non rotoflex and the radius arm bolts to the outer two holes. I was told its the best model to have but know nothing about them. I nearly bought one 28 years ago but bought a 70 midget instead and restored and used that all over the country etc, got bored with it and sold it a few years ago lost interest then thought hmm I fancy one of these, Im full on with it at the moment too! Cheers Nick Iain.
  17. Door shell all repaired, skinned, then A panel repaired, fixed door on, adjusted rear wing to get a nice even gap all way down as it was really tight, doors were like this when I got the car, rear wings have been changed in the past and left, I dont know why anyone would do that? Anyway moved onto rear floor and heelboard, removed all the bodge welding and tar yuk lol just making panels to weld in now 👍
  18. Nick, superb cheers, is yours mk3? It does look slightly different, my heelboard is further in than the box section at top and yours looks other way round? Thanks very much Iain.
  19. Sorted a diagram of roughly what it should look like, carefully cutting the botch work off now then redo it properly Cheers Iain.
  20. Ah sorry forgot to say GT6 mk3 Thanks
  21. Hello has anyone got a close picture of preferably offside rear sill area, the area between the rear inner arch and suspension arm to body? Mines been botch welded with thick plate and tarred lol, horrible I know basic shape as the old bodywork was underneath but all fell off when cutting out the mess! Cheers
  22. I just welded a box section across the door arpeture decent thick stuff 40mm square 3mm thick, weld it on the inside lip then you can try your doors with it in situ, I also put a downward section to the lip above the floor strengthener, you can then cut the A post to repair it etc
