I have got my steering column on the bench to replace the bushes but the manual says to remove the inner column but i cant get it passed the original bushes because of the enlarged bit that the steering lock goes in to this is off of a 1976 spitfire 1500 is there a way to get the bushes out without any damage to the outer column thanks Graham.

Thanks for the advice and photos Roger it looks like you had the same trouble i bought a 4 branch from SC Parts which looked the same as the one you fitted but it was made so bad the faces would no where near mount flat against the head i tried grinding them flat but gave up in the end but obviously couldn't then send them back so i bought the Bell one from the club shop i will certainly give paddocks a ring and chat about the one you used.
As usual good feed back from the forum thanks every body Graham.

I wonder if anybody had fitted twin Webers to their spitfire 1500, i bought the kit comprising of a pair of 40DCOE Webers manifold all fittings and linkages from SC Parts they fitted and ran but when I fitted my new Bell 4 branch and exhaust from the club shop the weber manifold wouldn't fit it fouled on the pipes before reaching the head but cant find any information on it, SC Parts were not interested so I have fitted the twin SU carbs but would still like to know if it some thing that anybody has come across
Thanks in advance Graham.

I've probably missed something in the manual but how far on do you drift the rear wheel bearing onto the drive shaft i have drifted the stone guard on to the tolerances in the manual do i then just drift the bearing on till the trunnion touches the stone guard?

Hi i know this is probably a long shot, but i have fitted an Ivor Searle power plus stage 2 engine, Twin 40 DCOE Webers and on advice from the suppliers a 123 ignition programmable distributor . i was wondering if anybody had done similar and would know or could supply a ignition curve for the distributor i have contacted the manufacture but have had no luck on the best way to set this up , i have got it to tick over but the timing doesn't seem to be correct thanks in advance Graham.
