  1. It runs fine, the only thing it doesn't and never has done is start easily. When I bought the car it was on points and a sports coil of some manufacture but I put the poor starting down to other issues. I fitted the Pertronix and coil (much smoother tick over etc) and the starting was better but still needs cranking. Then it could be the WOSP starter as that makes a 'orrid whining noise...! How can it melt the ignition switch contacts? Iain
  2. Ian, I have the Ignitor 2 plus 45011 coil (0.6 ohm) as recommended by Pertronix. I bought it from Aldon and after reading the above I phoned them and they said they've never had a problem and most OE systems are 0.6ohm. I do have Magnecor leads and multi electrode plugs and looking at my dizzy cap/rotor arm they look fine. I checked and my system is 12v unballasted. Iain
  3. Received Coverdale samples, none of them the same colour as my carpet. I'll make do with the velcro repair!
  4. I installed a 6mm and 8mm inlet/outlet filter in the boot. I can't remember which but the diameters of my pipe coming out the tank and the pipe going forward to the pump are different. Installing the in line filter solved that problem as I just used 8 or 6mm hose to connect everything up plus it stopped any crud from going up the line. I bought it from Carbuilder Solutions. Iain
  5. But you won't squeek😂 Did mine again last week, it scented the carpark floor when it dripped out. I used a wanner but greased the inside of the container to stop it pi**ing out. Seemed to work.
  6. I have two relays mounted on a home made angle bracket bolted to the nearside horn bonnet bracket. I moved the horn to the drivers side (so two horns on the driver side) to give more room for the relays and cable spaghetti. One relay for mains and one for dipped. I still haven't tidied the cables but it all works. I'm not an electrician and it took me 10 times longer than a professional! Iain
  7. I spoke to Canley about a new plate for my T9 Vitesse. They sent the correct part. Speak to them, they are very knowledgeable and helpful. Count the number of splines before calling. Iain
  8. I think that included the non standard Jaaaag mohair headliner, covering the MX5 front seats and the rear bench plus obviously labour.
  9. They do, what happens at the large cut out on the gbox cover. Mine has a plastic tray sewn in.
  10. Lot's on my car is/was odd! I'm getting through the list. I've ordered samples from Coverdale as there isn't anything in the pile of documents that mentions the interior trim😡. If one sample matches I'll order the footwell carpets. As to the tunnel I need to speak with their tech manager as I have the T9 gearbox cover and I think it's different to standard? Please advise. I'll also order the Hardura boot liner as that's also missing. As a quick fix I have some velcro hook tape that I'll bodge as best as possible. Rotated the steering column today so fingers crossed the indicator stalk will cancel. Update, I've found an invoice stuck behind another from Classic Automotive Trim Coventry. Guggled 'em and they still exist! The invoice gives no detail or date just the £1035 cost. I can feel a phone call coming tomorrow......
  11. I think that's what I'll do, my wife is good at sewing........ Attach it to the tunnel and tuck it under the footwell carpet. I think the colour is called Gold?
  12. Tried that but it didn't stick or at least not for long. I'd like to get rid of the loose piece.
  13. I'm a big fan of velcro but it's how to attach it, my sewing skills aren't good! I've dug deeper and Newton's don't seem to have this loose piece in their kit. I'll phone them tomorrow. As I have a T9 gearbox I believe the tunnel is different to standard. Iain
  14. Please see photos of my tunnel and the loose trim piece that is supposed cover the tunnel edge to floor mat. I don't know if this is standard but it's always floating about and getting under my feet. A real pain! So my thought is to try and find some biscuit coloured (might have to be black) pvc U strip to fit on the edge of the g/box cover and contact glue the strips either side of the tunnel to floor mat. Any other suggestions, but keep it simple! Iain
  15. Apart from spanner roll, socket set and other small tools, cables etc I carry a small trolley jack and a plywood board not much fun (and possibly dangerous) jacking the car up on grass to change a wheel. Iain
  16. The PO of my Vitesse saloon spent £45k restoring it with Jigsaw from 2007 to 2010. He lost a lot of money and it was far from perfect! Iain
  17. My handbrake was nearly as bad as yours, I discovered the rear drum shoes needed adjusting. Once done the handbrake is much lower to engage and works fine. Iain
  18. Newman Cams sell single springs for their PH1-3 cams rated at 160lbs and doubles for their race cam rated at 200lbs. I would go with their recommendation and buy the single spring. Iain

    Spark plugs

Could be worse if it were diesel...!

    Spark plugs

Now you know what a constipated spark plug looks like!

    Spark plugs

Never had a plug anything like that bad. You say DIY pcv system and 'castor' oil, what do you mean? Iain
  22. Is there supposed to be a vacuum advance pipe from the dizzy to the front carb?
  23. They look good, the 8mm leads I have are blue. The important thing is some have the correct angled fittings. The previous set on my car all had straight plug fittings and made the leads look untidy. Iain
