So I am in the process of re doing all the seals in my mk3 diff. Now I am changing the drive shaft bearings as the old ones get a bit ruined having to remove them for the seals with a bit of force and heat. How ever whilst the diff is opened is it worth changing the carrier bearings (I do have some timkin ones of the correct size lying about) or is this something best left alone. If it is worth me doing is there anything I should be looking out for or doing especially?

I to thought poly bust buttons would be ideal but iv never been able to find any.

shaft is still straight yeah it was caused by leverage from the prop being taken off incorrectly

That is fantastic had not thought I could still get one new Canley to the rescue.

Hi all Would anyone have a source for some Teflon spring buttons for rebuilding the rear spring on a GT6 as iv heard the new rubber ones absolutely do not last.

Hi all Was hoping the collective mind would have a solution to my problem. My diff flange managed to get bent during disassembly from the car and wondered if anyone had any good ways to ether straighten it or if anyone had any that they would be willing to sell. Its of a Late Mk3 GT6 I believe a KC prefix.

Hi All Does anyone happen to know the correct size socket for the castellated pinion nut on the diff? And on replacement am I correct in thinking that its just tighten to torque spec over number of turns on this type of diff.

Yeah I think iv accidently ordered the carrier bearings which from what's been said I should leave alone. Hope returns to Canley's aren't to bad and reorder the correct bearings 😂

So I have ordered seals and bearings as advised. getting the bearings from Canley. I'm a bit confused though as thought the output shaft bearings were a standard ball bearing yet iv been sent tapered roller ones. Are these correct or is there an issue? Iv added a photo of the exact ones received

Would you know what the bearing number is so I can get a pair ordered up for the side shafts?

Hi colin a good point as to why i am rebuilding. The main reason is to stop oil leaks as from what I can tell the bearings don't seem to bad but I wasn't sure if it was worth replacing some of them while I am in there. It should also be a late diff as the car is a 74 registered but again I'm not sure how to tell all iv found so far is a strange blob of red paint on the case It may also be worth mentioning during removal the main drive flange that connects the the prop got slightly bent not sure it it would be ok to heat it up and try straighten it or attempt to aquite a used one which I have no idea where to get one from.

Hi all when I purchased my GT6 one of the seat belt mounts was a nut which had been welded onto the window pillar above the drivers head. Now I know this certainly isnt factory but my question is more about safety and to whether I should remove this mounting point or keep it?

Hi Brooky there is a gap of about 2/3mm when pulled out to the desired position.

Hi all Having trouble with the fitment of my new outer sills the top seems to be too far inwards leaving a lip where it meets the door. This was not present during test fitting as now i have welded the previous parts in place being lower a post, inner sill and strengthener. So now im at a bit of a loss as to how best to correct this one.

Yes that’s with the clamp fitted and locked down the rear near the doors are lining up ok.

Hi all. im having trouble with the fit meant of my Gt6 bonnet. Having repaired the bonnet and replaces many panels on it iv come to putting it back on to there car and found my panel gaps over all are good. But one big problem. The wings are sticking out on both sides when they get to the wheel arch as can be seen in the photo and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to resolve this so any suggestions would be really helpful.

Hi all I’m looking at purchasing a over drive gearbox for my late GT6 MK3. Iv found a unit which I believe is for a 1850 dolomite with J type overdrive fitted. My question is will this fit into my Gt6 by swapping the bell housing from my current Non O/D box? Or are there other things to consider. The doors are in remarkable condition only some surface rust so no work there. That will be my next question the A and B posts both need parts replacing so where do they come on the list if i need to braces off them?

Hi all Im about to start replacing my floor pans on the GT6 and need some advice on where to start and which side to install them above of from underneath the car. the tub is still on the chassis as I figured this would be better for later body work such as sills but can change this if I need to. Will I also need to seem seal any joints that I create in this processes and is it advised to tackle sills or floor pans first?

Hi all I have a few questions on fitting the new sills to the GT6 Firstly do I need the bonnet in place to help line the sills up? and secondly a very novice question do I need to remove the black primer paint the panels come with and paint inside of the sills again if so what products do people recommend?

will sealant fix this problem tho? if so will any old gasket sealant do?

Yeah it does i purchased it last year and it wasn't that expansive then thickness i would say its about 5mm from memory
