  1. Done. Learning: should have followed the recommendations to use Sicaflex. All the trouble with studs, drilling holes, ….
  2. Trimmed the panel with a jigsaw. Difficult now to add new studs where I shortened the panel.
  3. Problem, how to get the size down. And the studs , how to get new ones in.
  4. And for an Estate the panel should be considerably smaller.
  5. Hi, I bought such a trim panel some years ago. It was a reproduction. It measures a height of 175mm and is 975mm wide. Plan was to mount it on the Estate tail gate of my 1360 Estate that I converted to Vitesse MK II running gear. Unfortunately it is too big for the recess in the tail gate. Could someone who has an original Vitesse MK II Panel be so kind and measure that trim panel? Thanks Martin
  6. Deal all, fiddling with a 1360 Engine. Unfortunately I do not have a manual for that Engine as I do have 1500 and 2ltr 6 cyl Engines in my Cars. Searching for the figures for the valve and cam Lift. Cheers Martin
  7. We took a clearance between 5/100 and 6/100 mm. GT6 and Vitesse are both happy with that. No oil real consumption and no problem reving beyond 6.000. Important, pistons , crank, flywheel and rods should be balanced. Check piston Ring clearance. Cheers Martin
  8. It is a standard 1360 GE Herald engine. With a Delco distributor.
  9. I‘m not sure as I Know that the 1200 engine has a drive position different to the 1500 engine. Perhaps someone could have a look into the 1360 manual?
  10. Thanks for your responses. Really helps. another question: How is the position of the distributor drive gear for the 1360 Herald engine at TDC compression stroke first cylinder? I do have some manuals, but they cover only GT6 and Spitfire 1500. Thanks Martin
  11. Hi, friend has a onother mate´s Spitfire in his workshop. Many things had to be corrected from the work of talented previous owners. Now. There is a GE engine in the car. Herald 1360. But with twin HS2. Does anybody drive such a combination? If yes, which needle and is the crank pressure from the valve cover connected to the carbs? Cheers Martin
  12. Hi John, we had the same issue when putting cam bearings into the GT6 Engine. I had a mate boring a 30mm thick iron plate with a 50,000mm hole. Yes, precision Workshop. We pressed a test bearing into it. Worked fine. Thus the engine workshop was instructed to bore the cam journals to 50.000. I installed the bearings with a long threaded bar. I made some mandrels for this. In addition some Loctite was used. Engine works fine towards 7.000/min. Bearings came from CC or Rimmers. Cant remember. County stuff. Martin
  13. Hi, I´m trying to fit the sills to my Herald. There are two holes at the rear end of the sill where it shall be screwed to the tonneau. But there is only one hole (at the rear end ) of the tonneau. Do I have to drill an additional hole or was it only fitted with one screw? Cheers Martin
  14. fortunately I got hold on a decent set in Stoneleigh some time ago.
  15. I gave away pitted ones for re-chroming. They warned me that they cannot fill the pitted areas and it could get worse. They where right. It got worse. Martin
  16. I use the Mann W712 filter on the filter conversion of my Vitesse and GT6. This filter is only 79mm high. Martin
  17. Hi, I converted a Herald Estate to Vitesse running gear. Bonnet was upgraded with the Vitesse headlamp panel as well. Has someone the opportunity to measure the location of the bonnet badge? Cheers Martin
