  1. Nice event that you can do from home, in your garage or on a little trip πŸ˜„. Last year 500 people send him pics from all over the world. So lets mail him some more pics now ! Some explaination: Rye Livingston of the Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club in Northern California is again organizing Drive Your Triumph Day. Some years ago Rye encouraged members of his club to drive their Triumphs on February 10th, to celebrate Sir John Black's Birthday, the man who organized Standard's purchase of Triumph after WW II and went on to make the cars we enjoy driving today. Drive Your Triumph Day has gained momentum and last year Rye received over 500 photos from all over the world. He's hoping to increase that number again this year! The concept is straightforward. On Thursday, February 10th, go for a drive in your Triumph. Take a scenic drive on a country road or out to lunch, to the market, to work, wherever. Go for a drive alone or in a big group from your local Triumph Club. Take your spouse, buddy, child, grandchild or dog; then take a photo. The photo is mainly of the car, and the owner or passenger if possible, ideally in front of a cool spot, landmark, scenic view or in your driveway. If it’s the middle of the winter where you live and your car is in hibernation, or in the middle of a restoration, take a photo of it in the garage. The next step is to email a high-resolution photo to driveyourtriumphday@gmail.com, along with some basic information: owner’s name, year and model of car, and place photo was taken (city, state, country). The photos will then be published not only in our club newsletter, but also in USA’s national magazine: Vintage Triumph Registry, and on the Drive Your Triumph Day website: https://driveyourtriumphday.shutterfly.com
  2. Its indeed 5/16 /8mm. On my Spitfire I still have the original plastic hose to, seems to hold up well with the new fuel around here. Actually not been having real problems with the new fuel, think I just drive it to much 🀣
  3. The rot.. Drivers side outrigger had a bit repair in the past. But the bottom connection to the chassis was rotten now. Also needed a plate welded in the chassis (first wire brushed inside, rust convertor) Passenger side had pin holes around the drain hole & the same spot that was rotten on the other side had been rewelded years ago. So fixed that outrigger to, just need to drill a drain hole + wax it all to prevent rust.
  4. More stuff done. Also found a bit of rot.. πŸ™„ But i knew it was there. 1 Floor is in epoxy primer now, other only half. When stripping you can see where the water/salt spray's up on the body very well.. rusty !
  5. I knew this was coming 🀣 I have weight every piston and conrod , so gave the pistons numbers and conrod had some one. So then I tried to match the total weight up of each piston/conrod as closely as possible. Hope it makes sence πŸ˜… But conrod are still in the same spot as before.
  6. I had bought epoxy primer & Gravitex from a supplier i have used a lot. Everything was in stock when I ordered.. It started with Gravitex not in stock. Mailed 2 times.. no reply. Few days ago.. sorry no epoxy... Looked better from my whole order only the hardener was in stock. Mailed back and said I wanted my money back. 2Min later a reply and they where going to send it back. Sooo.. got Epoxy primer from a very local place, but needed to buy 5 liter πŸ˜…. So worked on Fox a bit more today. Stripped the whole bootfloor, sandblasted the hard to get to area's, rust convertor and epoxy (just applied with a brush).
  7. Bought a new prop from James Paddock for my spit 1500 with OD. It was balanced and ok.
  8. Yesterday startes to de-rust the bootfloor. But found out I best get it all to bare metal.. Sadly in the early afternoon needed to stop. Seems I had some side effects from my booster shot I had on friday evening. Got Fox in the garage and even today didnt do anything. I had asked to use a lift for sunday etc. But that will be for later. This curve had so much rust ! (Water/salt get mostly there..) My strip discs for an angle grinder got rid of everything in no time. (Yes the white paint is original paint)
  9. Mine has a little screw in the corner (near the door) of that panel.
  10. Been thinking to do it like this: -strip as much as i can from the underside -apply decent rust convertor on the rusty area's that I cant fully clean with a wire brush etc. -apply epoxy primer -then U-pol gravitex And then we can see what we do of color....
  11. The water return pipe.. Always find it so annoying that its very hard to remove the manifold if you need to change the gasket etc. as the tab that holds the pipe is on the rear manifold stud. So had a look ...
  12. More done on the engine today πŸ™ƒ Need to a few little things and then need to find time to fit it.
  13. Motip engine paint Dont know if you can get it in the UK or not.
  14. Core plugs removed and cleaned out (still the originals). As you can see.. 2 where a pig to remove ! And then paint !
  15. Look what I collected today ! πŸ™ƒ Β£788 later...
  16. Nope... Lefty loosy and righty tighty 🀣
  17. As some will know, im doing a rolling resto in my Spit 1500. But do want some good protection underneath. Ive painted a part with zink phosphate and stone chip (light coat) over it. But do have again some light rust spots πŸ™„ And it would best that I strip the whole floors. I've worked on a Porsche 911 last year, stripped the underseal, original paint + coating off to bare metal. Then rust convertor on the hard spots, epoxy primer and a good layer of stone chip (but with compressed air gun, so I can spray a thicker layer). Been thinking of painting it in 2k body color.. but thats for later. So what have people done ? Also needs to be good against stone chips and salt. Underseal I dont like..
  18. 🀣 1500's never had the extra lever on the pump. I did have an electric pump for 3 years and it started up great with that. But failed in september and thanks to brexit I could not buy the same one again. But did find the same just after christmas.. so maybe going to electric again.. Now an aftermarket mechanical one is on.
  19. Welll.. she was only standing for like 20hours. She drives daily, so never sleeps longer then 8 hours πŸ˜…
  20. First start uo from the year ! Had a bit of problems with cold starting for weeks, but its gettibg better after some carb adjustments. 20220101_124537.mp4
  21. Hi, Im looking for a decent quality release bearing (GRB207) for my Spit 1500. Now im using the one in the Borg & Beck kits. But after a year it starts to make noises. Years ago bought an uprated release bearings, but never used it. If i look up that part no, a lot of USA parts guys are selling this as direct replacement of the GRB207 bearing. Now had some investigation and.. The uprated one isnt as thick.. Anyone got info on a decent bearing of a good brand ? Pic : Uprated one (+- 16mm) vs used borg en beck unbranded bearings (+- 22mm thick).
