  1. Did found something out. This box has an input shaft for an oil seal. Did buy a spare seal adaptor for in the bell housing. But.... didnt fit. Old scroll and seal type adaptor did fit. Measured it.. that spare one was bigger. πŸ€”πŸ€” From what could it come from ? Marina? Dolomite single rail?
  2. Gearbox is now back together. Now to find a free weekend to do it all... Next weekend.. no time and she needs to do some kms/miles (hope gearbox holds up). Going to visit a friend and to see the finish of the Club Triumph's 10 Countries Run.
  3. Will see what the quality etc is. Cant be worse then what I had with an NOS laygear...
  4. Found bits to repair my previous gearbox where i had laygear teeth fail after 2000kms on a NOS laygear. The main thing... a brand new laygear. Found one 'cheap' from the Netherlands, as Bastuck had none in stock. But I know all the new ones are made by Bastuck, as was this one. Fitted new needle bearings etc in it and my 'dummy' shaft (came with the previously NOS laygear). Also found a stronger laygear shaft in Germany, that arrived today. so we can build the gearbox this weekendπŸ™ƒ
  5. Just when i wanted to order a new one.. I was contacted by a dutch guy that found a column in his stock with good working steering lock. Still Β£100/125 euro. But ... i do have a spare LHD column then to (something i wanted, but couldnt find)
  6. Contacted a few guys I know that sell 2nd hand spitfire parts here in belgium. One guy has used ones with key in the Netherlands. But his price is the same as a new Bastuck one πŸ˜… Bastuck has them in stock, so will order one there. Took the old lock off this weekend to inspect (bolts where loose !) Even tried with the spare key.. no luck. Think its just to worn out.
  7. Today.. A job that i wanted to do for years... well 6 years. Did upgrade the fuse box to 8 blade back in 2012. But over the years it turned out a bit.. small. So now a 12 blade one is fitted. Now just to order some wiring and make it nicer.
  8. Some more stuff done over the weekend.. An oil change after 6400kms with the rebuild engine and gave her a tune up to πŸ™ƒ Fitted a piecevof new fuel line. Inspected all the other.. where ok. We are now at 343.300kms πŸ™ƒπŸ˜…
  9. Will check with a few people in europe. But LHD ones are hard to find it seems. I have a spare. But thats cut from an non original, as Fox never got any original keys πŸ˜”
  10. Thing is... where do you get another barrel πŸ˜…
  11. Sorry.. but the late style 1500 was totally different ! Same as TR7
  12. Hi, For a few years I can pull the key out of the ignition switch when the car is running. Tried to lube it etc .. still no good. But... Fox needs to go for technical inspection here in Belgium by the end of september and since a few months a new rule is in action... So if you can pull the key put it would fail Anybody got any tips to maybe get it working ? πŸ˜… Mine is well used.. so probably just dead worn. New one at Bastuck germany is 206 euro incl the rest of the parts needed.
  13. Fox the workhorse πŸ™ƒ Got some free shelving...
  14. You best insert 2 pins in the holes at the new boss. They will make the cancelling device work. If it gets to stiff, loosen the lower safety clamp and then you can pull the inner shaft out bit. If needed, i can take a pic of mine tomorrow.
  15. Hi, For my spit 1500/ Fox i've been thinking of upgrading the fuse box once more.. Now from 8 blade to 12 blade fuses. But.. normally the positive lead goes to the start relay(non original on mine), from there on the power is distributed. Sadly the m8 stud on the relay is getting short.. very hard to get a nut on with all cables in place. Ive seen bus bars etc. But cant seem to find anything i like πŸ˜…πŸ˜… What have other people done ? (Reminder... my car is LHD, so battery is on the wrong side πŸ™ƒ)
  16. Then i was thinking ... why not do the rest to , then its done πŸ˜…
  17. Whole day been busy on the bulkhead. Cleaned up the wiring to and looking for upgrades... First to clean up.. under the masters.
  18. No πŸ˜… But at my work (a school) they have one. A friend of mine has even got a bigger one πŸ˜„
  19. Sadly no progress on the bulkhead. Im now 2 weeks back at working full time after nearly 3 months at home due to my hand. For 2 weeks want to order all bolts, washers, nuts etc for the bulkhead and many other bits. Also the hot weather isnt fun. Hand/finger dislikes it a bit to πŸ˜… But.. got around cleaning up some stuff πŸ™ƒ Oh well.. once fitted you will only see them when you need to replace a bulb πŸ˜…
  20. Today the car been to a re-test... passed his inspection, so can hit the road after 22 years ! πŸ™ƒ Next is to make a list of little problems to fix over the wintertime.
  21. Today got the tank dry and vacuumed the rust out Not much in it really. Got the pump open, full of crud. Got the float bowles open.. full of crud to. Cleaned every line etc. Fresh new fuel in and it ran very nice. Had a look at the carb setting up etc. Testdrive, runs very nice and with power ! But another few gremlins to sort out. Thanks all for your input and help (as always !).
  22. Oh yeah.. riv nuts arrived... Now been thinking of putting some in thr bonnet to fit the headlight buckets. Now its done with regular rivets, but wiud like it so i can fit and remove them easier. Another job on Fox her list... and the list keeps on growing πŸ˜…
  23. Had a look this week at the milage of Fox The new engine (fitted 26march) has now done 5.250kms, 3260 miles. πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Not bad at all ! Only needed to top of the oil once with 200ml. What a difference then before.. It's just ran in good πŸ™ƒ
  24. Last bit of fuel after sitting 30 min πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
