  1. Thanks for the advice guys, looking forward to taking the Herald to the next club meet.
  2. Are there are any knowledgable chaps in the Derby area? Be nice to get another set of ears to listen to it. Are there any local(ish) meets where triumph owners regularly congregate?
  3. I'll try and record the noise and have already purchased a full gasket set ready for a full strip/inspection and rebuild. Just trying to see if anyone has any ideas before I delve inside. There's an old receipt for work done in the past for when it dropped the thrusts, but did they rebuild using "standard" thrusts? May need some special solid ones, i.e from Custom Thrust Washers - but are they UK based?
  4. Hi all, got a strange noise from the engine on my13/60 Herald which I'm hoping someone my be able to identify. It sounds just like a noisy layshaft bearing, but the gearbox is a freshly rebuilt 1500 unit with overdrive and the noise is still there with the clutch in and free wheeling but revving the engine. I've got good oil pressure and the engine ticks over lovely, just very rough sounding when revving. These engines are supposed to be good at revving but at 4000 it sounds aweful. I do have 0.035" thrust play, but there is no noise when using the clutch and even using a stethoscope there's no undue noises from the engine. This is my first Triumph so no idea how they should sound, but in all my experience on BMC A series I never had this issue. Are these engines just noisy?
