mark all you need to do is quieten the shout typing

and as a side you even posted a' like'  to scrappy when he was leaving and going to CT   what was that all about  ??

both good clubs all with variations on content and likes in how they support classics .

there is a fundamental oddity in you reply to your own posts far far   more than others do ,

there is no witch hunt but the   output is too loud      for me

your  car posts have the normal expected replies  from a range of contributors ..it works

its your decision to depart , but a little calmer input would save the day

past experience i was a moderator for 5 years and ran the lost forum so treading on eggshells never works

Im not a moderator now but a long standing contributor

its not everyone but your self is out of step

we dont want censorship head count post count    just a bit of rational works wonders

Hi Pete don’t know what ct is ? And there’s more to “scrappy” comment than just that and I was generalising his comment I don’t take sides... you say you were a moderator would you have stood for a comment made when talking to someone about your departed father and his collection of cars as “childish prattle” I don’t think so !

And as a note I did notice you mentioned last time there was an outburst about answering posts I didn’t realise you had too quote the reply once I knew this then as you’ll see I know and have done for a while quote via the reply quote button... lol that sounds confusing but I think you know what I mean ....

anyway football ? What’s the problem. National game as is cricket rugby motor racing etc etc ....

people don’t like bold print ? It’s not shouting it’s highlighting a word....

now as an ex moderator you know as well as me I’ve been respectful and forthcoming on all areas of the forum .. I’ve seen you liking things that are derogatory too me but then you answer my posts as if butter wouldn’t melt and yet I still respectfully reply too you.
with that all said I feel I’ve got too know your input on this forum and you are well respected any question asked your the first too reply with in-depth knowledge you sir are a credit too this forum and I do wish you well ....

As for a couple of others well what can I say even with the intervention of the club’s moderators who had a great response too the last fall out all I can say is boo hoo and they should remember the club is bigger and better than any member past or even present.
    with the upmost respect

  2. Oh dear here we go again ...

firstly I agree with this comment...

“Keeping it civil and an element of fun will keep it going.”

“But perhaps politics and religion should be banned. Including in the joke section.”

secondly I agree too much banter in the early stages was over the top for some of you guys but that’s the world of social media... it’s fast and moving...

thirdly I agree the ranking system is weirdly set up ...

fourth I agree some people would think 51 was placed/created for content like mine but I never asked  for it and my deleted threads/posts were re instated and put in there ?
5 I have had an amazing time on here during the early stages great content and great advice BUT I say too you all there are members who probably look for content just too troll it should it not fit into there box and people like that will slow the progress of this club there’s no way we as a club would survive in the big world of social media if members behaved in the way I’ve experienced here over the past month or two.

all my posts and threads and interactions can be scrutinised by the club as they did the last time and I can assure everyone that every interaction has been polite and not solicited in a TROLL manner as has been implied so without further ado I say GOODBYE to this club and the many GOOD people I have met and interacted with and I look forward too a new era where people’s interactions are met without hate nor grievance.....

    thankyou

    Mark

    it’s been emotional........❤️

  3. Morning everyone

I need too put my carb and air filter problems too bed. so I’m on the look out for a complete genuine set up for my Vitesse 6 1966 ... I’m reaching out for either a used set up compatible for my car that’s in great condition and can be put straight on barring the obvious tinkering involved....

    or

pointed in the right direction too obtain a set up

I live Derbyshire way and have a caravan based in Lincolnshire so I can travel for the right reasons.....

    much appreciated

My 1980 mini is absolutely packed full of character but absolutely no mod cons. I probably fill 3/4 of the width of the car, can't get abouve 45 mph (but working on that) but have the biggest smile on my face and frequently big smiles from onlookers. Never going to win a rally but a winner for me! In reality a well kept modern can tick your boxes but realistically it will rarely live up to expectations, especially at 19 years old and marketed as the wrong model. Buyer beware! At 19 years you are entering the realms of modern classic and all that comes with it, the more complex the more to go wrong (especially beyond basic mechanics).

Totally agree Adrian modern classics far too complicated..... I often wonder how the future generation and their classics will look like going forward in life (think I’ll start a thead on that) as for the mini I have too agree good fun and can be exhilarating but I think with this one it has put a bitter taste in my mouth BUT lessons learned and all that ....!! It probably has driven more towards a REAL mini classic and I’ll leave the rest and this “mini” too the wife as she does enjoy it ....

Just wanted to add to this topic by saying that reaction to Hetty in Mansfield seems very positive so far.

Most think she's 'beautiful', one woman even shouted accross B & Q's car park to state that 'you have a georgeous car mate'.

I can't help wondering though if this is, at least in part, because 'moderns' are just so bland and all look like they came out of a very similar mould......

Anyway a win for Hetty the Herald.

As an aside, are there any more Heralds in Mansfield, or even in Nottinghamshire??

I have never seen any in the 8 years I have lived here........

    Best wishes,

    Mike.

In my book any Triumph brought back on the road is a fantastic thing too do keep it going and you’ll have years of fun and enjoyment

    Mark,

You bought a car that was NINETEEN years old!    The average age of cars on the road is less than eight and that of cars that are scrapped is 15 years.    Your MINI was geriatric, and so must be expected to need more maintenance, and to come down with the collywobbles sooner than a youngster.

And you say that it's uncomfortable to drive - "All round vision very poor... and the suspension feels like your riding on Bricks"   Worn out suspension, dampers?    And is difficult to get out of?     You didn't notice that on your test drive?

"Caveat Emptor"!    Glad you wife likes it!

    JOhn

Afternoon John yea it felt ok for the test drive throwing it round all over the place.
I think because i really wanted one that overrode the finer points and blindsided my reasoning....

anyway the wife loves it and that’s probably more important as they say “happy wife happy life” lol

IF, you think the ride is rough, in that??.

For a couple of years I was the owner of an ORIGINAL cooper S. First generation. Mine Got, was that a rough ride. Exiting to drive well shod, it went as if on rails, really ticked all the boxes performance wise. Then the Engine blew up,😭 The cost of rebuilding it was 3 times the Value of the Car!. So grandson and I grafted a 1300 engine into it. It still went well. Eventually though the ride got to me, My wife only ever rode in it once,  it was like sitting on a skate board at 70MPH. So we passed it on to a Guy and his son, who where going to to a complete rebuild back to original.

Often wonder if they ever did get it back on the road.?

You are right though, The lady`s seem to love them, At least 4 or 5 of the female staff at the Doctors/Pharmacy close by park them daily on our close!. My Neighbours wife has one.? Maybe it`s the "small things" syndrome (like diamonds?).

    PeteMaybe it`s

    Hello Pete

great memories... I would still like a mini but it would need to be a 1960s model can’t be doing with it when they recreate the classics.... !!!  why Mess with them they look large next too each other so why call it a mini (even though it’s small inside) ?

    Mark ...

  8. WELL what can I say !!!!

Thought I would share with you my other run around ...

say HELLO 👋 tooTILLEY the mini 🥴 !!!!
    she’s a Mini Cooper 2003 1.6 in Green.

we purchased her in November 2020 and paid £1500 for her....

NOW... for many years I’ve always admired the Mini and always thought I would like too own one. The original mini’s unfortunately are too small for our intended use And I wasn’t looking for another classic so Looking around I finally found this one.
    it was described as this...

    6C633FC6-1260-4C2D-94E2-21347373D9BD.thumb.jpeg.dc318b538a10ebafab1876dc1ce951e4.jpeg

We went too view it and it looked great sounded great it wizzed round nicely and handled great. Seats were comfortable and held you in just fine...

    45 minutes drive test !!!

    WE BOUGHT IT ....

The following 2 weeks I used it nipping here and there then the Wife had it for 5 weeks using it as a daily driver....

Then the dreaded words were spoken by the wife “a light has come on in the car” !!!
    ENGINE MANAGEMENT!!!
anyway .... whilst looking in the folder I found this......

    E95B5A2D-4CC3-4759-BAEB-6FFF220A9742.thumb.jpeg.5a2259f6667a64436bd342ba1167f9eb.jpeg

Should it say Mini Cooper ? .................
    “Again”. ANYWAY ...........

Got the engine management light checked couldn’t really distinguish WHY it came on garage said just could be blocked sensor....

I drove the car for 4 weeks after this and I have too say it was TERRIBLE !!!!!!!! ?.

My GOD !!!. I can’t believe the car I thought I wanted all those years was as bad as this.

After a long journey you felt like you had just done ten rounds with TYSON..

Its smaller than you think... you open the door too get out and you feel like your climbing out of a cellar grappling with the door too get out ...!! All round vision very poor... and the suspension feels like your riding on Bricks....

Like the old saying goes NEVER DRIVE YOUR DREAM CAR YOU MAY BE DISAPPOINTED !!!!!. “Never a truer word said”

BUT the Wife LOVE’s IT ..

what can you say too that ? ....

SO now It’s HER car and I NEVER want too drive it again .... 😂

HI, I am going to buy a s/s exhaust for my Mk1 Vitesse. The ones supplied through the club are taking about 6 weeks or more. I have looked at Rimmer and they are quite expensive.

I have looked at J Paddocks, they have them in stock and are cheaper than Rimmers. The oIIInes they supply are made by FF Exhausts, anyone had any experience of this company?

Or can anyone suggest an alternative?

    Bob

    Hi Bob

just curious have you replaced your bumpers if so where did you get them as I’m looking at replacing mine. The ones I have on now are ok but they do have the odd deep scratch and are a little dull ...

    Hi Pete

Yes I have read the Buckeye thread and also this recent youtube addition from Midwest Motoring

which I thought was very helpful in a) understanding how things work and b) the methodology/effort needed for dissasembly, etc, again for a 175.

They have done 3 videos on dissassembly and assembly in June 2020. I might make a start this afternoon.

    Adrian

Hi Adrian sounds really complicated but having read your thread with people helping/advising like Pete, Doug and poppy you should overcome any major problems I’m sure .. good luck looking forward too your next informative posts ...

Sorry guys, the delay wasn't intentional, we had to go and meet our newborn grandson, our first. An absolutely magical moment!

Anyhow, apparently it's at least 50 years old and is a

    Sward Hardness Rocker,

    a very delicate instrument.

You counted the number of oscillations until it stopped and that told you the hardness of the material being tested, glass being 100%. (There must be more to it than that but Google will fill in the gaps in this info.) Apparently they're still made and used but are now digital.

CONGRATULATIONS DEREK ON THE NEWBORN 🐣

The factory where I'd spent the best part of my working life closed and I was one of the last to leave in 2005, this item got mixed up with my tools when I brought them home...
