  1. Bought mine direct from 123, but it was before brexit, only just got around to fitting. It’s all done on your smart phone/ tablet, really simple to use, does take some research though. They will pre-program a curve to match your dizzy, which was a good place to start. hag
  2. I’ve just fitted the 123 programmable on my Gt6 mk1, had a long term problem with my lumenition unit, and a very worn distributor, couldn’t find a single curve (there were so many to compare) to put directly in, asked on here, searched the internet, eventually I got 123 to install a curve based on the Lucas number, it was rubbish and didn’t work, but I have tweaked it myself and she runs sweeter than ever, these are my curves, not been to a rolling road yet, but planning to do so in the future. Had no idea on the MAP, so went with 123 pre-programmed. I think the cost for the 123, the tacho conversion and rolling road will be more than I expected, but I did cure my problem. I now have an immobiliser and a very steady tacho and I lost a tacho cable from my crowded bulk head. if by any chance someone does have the 123 curves for a 2000cc post rolling road please show so I can compare. good luck choosing - hag
  3. Thanks Pete, just getting all the bits ready for the rebuild. It’s got a copper head gasket on it at the moment. hag
  4. Thanks Pete, so what parts do you need to seal? do you put a little everywhere, or just around the bores and on both sides? is heldite any good? thanks hag
  5. Hi folks. Just wondering what my options are for head gaskets on a 1600 rebuild, assuming there aren’t Payen available?. Is it just the thin metal ones? And if so do you need to use a sealant with this type of gasket? thanks as always. hag
  6. Thanks guys. Wow, £1000 for roller rockers, that’s crazy. I’m gonna go for the uprated items I think. Thanks for all your help. hag
  7. Hi all, just looking around to see about replacing my rocker shaft and arms, and I noticed Rimmers do an uprated shaft and rockers that are bushed and need honing to fit, anyone have any experience of them? Any good? I did once see some orange roller rocker arms for modified engines, I think jigsaw used to sell them, anyone know if these are still available anywhere? Just weighing up my options. thanks hag
  8. John D, you bet I looked at your curve, good to see some crank advance figures rather than centrifugal, as that’s what the 123 uses, very useful to compare to all other data I’ve gathered. And thanks Pete for the vacuum data, I’ve searched the internet for them, hopefully I can translate them into something I can get the 123 to understand. It’s all new to me. thanks again hag
  9. Thanks for all your help guys, I’ve set up my 123 dizzy and runs awful, gonna try some tweaking, any idea of vacuum data/curve for a 22D? thanks hag
  10. Hi folks, can anyone supply me with advance curve data for a vitesse mk2, running Lucas distributor please. And if there is anyone running a 123 tune + dizzy on their late vitesse or Gt6 that might also supply their curve data, that would be greatly appreciated. thanks Hag
  11. Thanks Nick, kind of what I thought really, I don't really know what I'm doing, but will no doubt learn the hard way, just looking for reliability and as good as it gets for a standard cam engine. The Tune+ version has an immobilizer built in that you can use with your phone, thought that was a very good idea for security. Just got to work out the funds now, with converting the speedo and getting the standard curve installed by 123, its coming in at around £550.00, is it really worth it??? 🤔 Thanks Hag
  12. Hi, just been to check engine no & dizzy number, Engine no: HC577?2HE dizzy no: 41305B, 18-70. Does anyone know if they are a match? thanks hag
  13. Hi guys, following my Mis-fire saga over the last few months Ive decided to buy a 123/Tune dizzy for the GT6, before I press the 'Proceed with Order' button and pay the money over thought i might ask the forum their thoughts on these. Have you fitted one? is there a general consensus that are a good bit of kit? Now one other question, my car has late Vitesse Engine and runs a 22D6 lucas distributor with Tacho (i know I will have to convert this) but does anyone know the correct Dizzy number? Im not sure whether the one I have fitted came from this car. Thanks Again. hag
  14. Thanks Pete, you’re right it didn’t quite run the same, so I’ll check the timing, more likely to get a new module than stick with points. Really didn’t expect a lumenition one to go that quickly, can only be 3 years old. As the dizzy is worn I’ll get mine refurbed with a new module. thanks hag
  15. Hi guys, we’ll I’ve had a busy weekend trying to find the problem and I think 🤞 I’ve found it. 1, tried mechanical fan - better but still misfired. 2, found a new set of HT leads - even worse misfire. ( it was hot) 3, put the old points back on - no misfire so far. (been out today for two hours in the heat.) so i think it comes down to lumenition electronic unit in the distributor! just goes to show we all think these things are ‘fit & forget’ but that’s not always the case. The only time you realise is when you have replaced everything else. 🤣 fingers crossed for the weekend, gonna do a much bigger ride out. thanks hag
  16. Hi Clive, they don’t look like owner mods, I’ll take some pictures and add to the post. thanks hag
  17. Hi, got a very late vitesse 1600 convertible, with what appears to have some factory extras I’ve not seen before. A combination lock handbrake and side indicators on the wings under the chrome strip. does anyone know if they were factory options? thanks hag
  18. Chris, I will certainly post again when the fans on, should be this weekend not sure we are going to get the heatwave we had before though to test it. Richard, valve gaps are spot on, I do think I have some wear there though, planning on the rimmers uprated shaft and rockers. Can anyone say if they have done this and if it’s worth the extra money? thanks hag
  19. Hi Chris, thanks for your post. The engine was rebuilt a couple of years back and I’ve recently rebuilt the 150cds to match. It’s a triple carb set up and an extractor manifold and I’ve hand built a heat shield for it along with a bespoke air filter box. I didn’t replace the water pump when I rebuilt it as it seemed to function well without too much play. Yes insulation washers installed, new gaskets etc. I took it out at the weekend in cooler weather and it didn’t once play up, so I’m currently trying the original fan to see if permanent flowing air will make a difference, everyone seems to think it’s a good idea. I’ll let you know: thanks hag
  20. Hi Pete, do you think it might make a difference? the original one leaked as I couldn’t get a seal properly with the bottom cover and replaced it with this one from a pair of 150’s from a mk2 vitesse I Believe. thanks hag
  21. Hi Guys, A little update on this. So changed coil, took it for a ride in the scorching heat (3 weeks seems a long time go now) and it did its usual, 30 mins in got hot started to misfire, so I pulled over and took a look. It was running rough at this point, but still idling which was a bonus. I looked at the carbs ( I got 3 stromberg set up) luckily they have the little spring on the side to lift the piston, so two of the carbs were as expected when lifted but the middle carb had no affect on the running of the engine at all, in fact I removed the damper and lifted it all the way up and still nothing, let go and the engine idle returned to smooth and I proceeded all the way home without problem. Ive been out since and still have the same problem. I have been thoroughly through these carbs twice now, never found a sliver, the piston runs as smooth as can be and I've rebuilt them with new needles, jets and float needle valves. Any ideas on what could be going wrong with this particular carb? the only difference I can find is in the 'Screw Bushing' that houses the jet adjusting screw at the bottom, see pic. As always any help greatly appreciated. Thanks hag
  22. Thanks guys, as always your comments , knowledge and experience greatly appreciated. thanks hag
  23. Thanks Colin, great to hear it came back better than planned, I also feel the need for an mot and it’s the only thing I can find that might fail. I’ll send it off, thanks for the recommendation. hag.
  24. My last post didn’t seem to show up as new, so sending this in the hope someone might look at it. thanks hag
  25. Thanks guys, was it pricey to do Colin?
