  1. The new short engine does not come with a camshaft. The part number stamped on the short engine is listed in the MK3 GT6 Parts Book so I believe it is the correct engine. That's certainly how I purchased it. I will measure the original valve sizes.
  2. Yes, brand new, old stock. Thank you for the CW recommendation.
  3. When I acquired my car it was missing its engine apart from all ancillaries. I acquired a NOS Short Engine - Part No. UKC559 (domed top pistons) from TD. Fitchett along with a "bare" cylinder head to suit. I'm now seeking recommendations for having the head prepared for use. I'm thinking along the line of having an unleaded conversion and maybe polished and ported whilst I'm at it. I will also need all rockers, valves, rods etc. Should I source and pass on these items separately or find an individual/firm who can do the whole job ?. For information - the only other upgrade I may go for is a "fast road" camshaft, when I source that. Wont be doing any track days as wanting to keep her fairly standard. I am Nottingham based. Any help/suggestions much appreciated. Thanks Paul Short Block Illustrated For Info -
  4. Johny, you are correct. My clamp plate does have 6 holes instead of 4. Looks like its been changed over for some reason in the past. Just ordered the correct one from Canleys.
  5. Never a fan of gaps myself but as Wayne says, it could be correct at that.
  6. Hi Wayne & Johnny and all who have contributed to my thread. Whilst scratching my head over it this afternoon, I decided to part it from the diff and give it a wipe over. Thank goodness I did for the answer appeared before my eyes. 159654 emerged from beneath the grime which proves I have the correct spring. I just need to check with the previous owner regarding the originality of the diff. Many thanks though to all who contributed to answering my question. Paul
  7. That is a possibility. I will ask the previous owner as to what he knows. Paul
  8. Thank you Colin. Very useful table. I will undertake some measuring tomorrow. 159654 is the part number my parts catalogue says I should have so some measurements should guide me to what I have. Paul
  9. Thanks for your thoughts Johny & Colin and interesting thread Badwolf. Good nighttime reading there.
  10. Last year, I purchased a late 73 Mk3 GT6 totally dismantled but importantly missing its swingspring. At the last Stoneleigh spares meet I managed to purchase what I was told was the correct 5 leaf spring for my car. Upon trial fitting it to my diff yesterday I ended up with what you can see in the attached photo, with associated gaps. As I've never seen one assembled, does this seem correct. It just appears to me that the machined slot in the top of my diff is not deep enough to fully take the thickness of the lower leaf. Or is it correct and I'm at fault ?. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Paul
  11. Just purchased three Mann W 714/2 filters for a total inclusive price of £10.05 (£3.35 inc. each) via Amazon. Hope this helps. Paul.
  12. Graham, have sent you a pm. Paul
  13. Adrian, may I ask, what colour your Koni dampers are ?. The reason I ask is that I know that Koni produce black or red dampers in their Classic range. I want black for my late 73 GT6 being 80-1388 Front & 80-1389 Rear. Rimmers tell me I can only get those ref. numbers in red but Demon Tweeks tell me they can get them in black. Rimmers slightly cheaper and only down the A46 from me. Are you able to shed any light ? Many Thanks - Paul.
