  1. Thanks. I haven't managed to look at anything as I don't have the facilities but it is off to someone who has! The clutch bearing has been mentioned but until the gearbox is out it's a guessing game..!! Cheers
  2. A little while ago while the handbrake was on my foot slipped off the clutch pedal but, instead of stalling there was a clanking noise, the engine didn't stall!! Since then there has, on ocassion, been a brief "weird" noise which would disappear and the car, a Mk1 Vitesse with a late Mk3 GT6 engine, seems to run okay although, again, very ocassionaly, it fwlt as the the clutch was "slipping"!! However, as the car had stood for a while and needed moving I decided to start her and reverse out of the garage which has a very slight slope but sufficient for the car to roll freely! Here's where it gets stranger, having engaged reverse and moving backwards a little, although whether that was through gearing or "freely"! On trying to drive back into the garage in first gear and, although there was resistance when depressing the clutch, 1st gear didn't engage and I simply rolled a little farther out of the garage!! The engine runs smoothly when revved and, with the handbrake on, all gears locate freely without any discernable "crunching"! Who's first on this one... ??
  3. Cheers Pete. No, I'm not intending to fit the external feed!!
  4. I have a GT6 MKIII engine but concerned about ten amount of oil being fed to the tappets etc! Is it a trickle feed or quite a "substantial" supply please? If a "trickle", is this why some add the additional feed pipe, which, I know, is another debate completely!!
  5. Are there many, if any, interchangeable parts between the FWD1300/1500 with Toledo or Dolomites or other models for that? i.e. suspension, exterior/interior fittings (light clusters, particularly front sidelight and rear), chromework, door mechanisms for eg) Basically mechanical or bodywork that is compatible please? I believe there isn't much but would appreciate thoughts on how other owners have faired sourcing what are now scarce parts!! Thanks Philip
  6. So not a straight forward mod! I only intend using it to drive locally, the Vitesse is for the long runs out, it sounds far easier to leave standard. I do intend fitting a brake servo for round town driving though. Thank you for the feedback. Cheers
  7. Good day, I'm looking to switch my 1300 saloon from a single to twin carburettors, ideally to simply make it a 1300TC! Is this a fairly easy switch and which set up is the best? Is it the twin carb set up from a 1300 Spitfire? Cheers
  8. Thank you gents, food for thought on all counts, cheers.
  9. Cheers, that seems the overriding consensus Pete!!
  10. What have people found to be the best solution/ method of removing scuff marks, quite bad ones at that, from an aluminium bumper on a MK1 Vitesse please? Doesn't matter too much I suppose but it's the rear centre section which are hard to come by in decent second hand condition! Thanks Philip
  11. Thank you all for the input. I'll look at getting a colour chart and make the decision from there. Philip
  12. I was convinced it was the cover photo of the May Courier but, having checked the magazine again, that is a red Vitesse complete with stripe. Thinking I was going completely round the bend I've eventually found the picture in question on one of the TSSC fb posts. I'm guessing, now I've looked again and taking in what Richard has said above about OEW, I think that is what it could be on this particular Vitesse??
  13. Thank you Richard. I'll see what shades the paint sprayer has available but the OEW is likely to be the better option.
  14. Good afternoon, the current issue of the Courier shows a Vitesse in what appears to be Conifer green but also has a cream/ ivory stripe down the side which wraps onto the headlamp surrounds! I'm wondering if anyone knows what colour the cream is and if it is a Triumph colour please? If it isn't a specific Triumph colour would the owner of said Vitesse know what shade of cream/ ivory it is please? As part of the current work being carried out on my own Vitesse convertible the car will undergo a full re-spray in it's existing Conifer but I'm looking to have the same cream/ ivory stripe applied as well! I know there's a MG colour, Sequoia Cream/ Ivory, which is quite a deep shade of cream, which I both like and think compliments the conifer well, but would prefer a Triumph colour if there's one available!!
