  1. Yes, I seem to remember, rubber ring first and then the sender unit, then lock ring. I've never been able to afford to fill the tank, but 1/4 full and no leaks, even uphill
  2. yes. It was fitted only as a reminder to switch it off and is located so I bump it with my fingers when going into first. I also have just fitted a damn annoying american woman, now lying in the boot who says 'attention please, this car is backing up' wired to the r'light so I am doubly covered now
  3. o, if it is not automatically operated by the gearbox, then, like mine (b) Any other motor vehicle first used on or after 1st July 1954: A circuit-closed tell-tale shall be fitted So ! circuit closed means to the r'light itself, NOT to the relay. Mine is therefore wrong as it only confirms the relay is live and............under some possible 'short circuit' malfunction, the r'light could be on without a telltale! I need to fit another warning/telltale light into the relay to r'light circuit as I originally perceived. Do I not ?
  4. Mmmmm. I thought ( ) the 'regulations ' stated a warning light was compulsory?
  5. Thanks guys, I manually installed a switch as the 13/60 does not have a reversing light as standard. I could have rigged one up on the g'box I suppose, but just went for a manual switch on the dash which feeds the relay. It has its own built in light when on. I suppose I could also put a warning light on the feed from relay to the r'light. Is that right, as Danny says, just to put it in series? Does that not reduce power to the actual r'light? Should it not be in parallel?
  6. I have fitted a reversing light (and a warning light) which is operated via a relay and just had a thought.....not easy these days The warning light will tell me that the relay has power BUT.... do I need another warning light to show the actual light has power? If, for example, the bulb blows, the warning light will be on but the reversing light may not be. I know I can go and look but my befuddled mind tells me the warning light should only be on when the reversing light is on. Am I over thinking??
  7. Do you not need an adaptor to fit a spin on if the engine is original?
  8. It is 2yrs since I needed to repair mine. For some reason I ended up with the 30" wrecking bar and socket resting on the floor and 24" stilsons (on the top hat) in my hand pressing down from waist level when the joint gave and I fell onto the concrete floor
  9. Well I am pleased I was born when I was and got used to spanners, screwdrivers and feeler gauges plus the odd use of a hammer, duct tape and WD40! This video shows how to 'tune up' a hybrid/electrical car'... all you need is a soldering iron ??? The guy is brilliant and advised me how to improve my bhp via the battery by only using a 120v power source and a light bulb to effect a reset back to factory spec. Make of it what you can??? https://youtu.be/FUIAnce7elM
  10. I would say YES. When I tried a new pump a few month back, the same happened and fuel ran out from under the carb. It turns out the pump was pushing nearly 5psi and you only need 2. that overcame the valve and caused the flood Guess you pumped too hard !
  11. A year later and it happened again! Written quote of £211, After one 10 min. phone call ........down to £160 !!! (AA for my CR-Z) Used the comparison sites as a carrot. (or stick, depending on which side you are ) What a con for those who auto renew.............. over 25% !
  12. Ah! Doug, I forgot to report back and advise all is well now .... ??? I seem to be getting notification of the new posts I have marked and also 'streaming' posts. No idea what they are. I still trawl 'unread' on occasion Have a good one.
  13. If had not seen what this post was about......I would have thought I was on 'the other site' Who delivered that then? Not Evri I'm sure! .
  14. It was taxed up to 30th April this year so may still be 'alive" Good luck with the hunt.
  15. I think it is a TR7 according to Iains profile???
  16. If you look carefully it says £6.95 postage
  17. Just noticed, the scruffy one says £6.95 postage !!!!!. That would tidy up nicely.... buy it NOW !
  18. There are at least 3 on ebay at various locations. Courier prices for my f/g herald were under a ton if you get the scruffy one, that's less than 200??
  19. Ahh but is left hand looking from the front, as DJB states, or from the inside of the car when left is nearside in UK?
  20. Helen, 67 is not old and what a lovely 40th birthday present you got! if you do look for another cv, I have a 1971 13/60 which will have to go the journey soon due to my medical problems. PM me for details if you want. ATB.
  21. At least Rimmers send you a second, free pump if you complain about the pressure! I now have 2 spare as I fixed the original both push about 5psi.
  22. Yes. A non working water pump sounds most likely from your description. The noise will stop if not moving and your engine will get 'hot'
