  1. Hmmmm. From outside, my widows and door are 'hotter' than the brickwork oh well, got to start somewhere!
  2. I bought this one the other day. I believe it will be useful for checking/tracing thermal loss from windows and doors etc.
  3. Maybe for a fast getaway as they parked on double yellows and put the 'make me invisible to traffic wardens' flashers on, while their partner did the shopping and they listened to the radio??
  4. Good. You do not say what car you have but you must ensure that pulling the choke on causes the throttle to open too. There is a screw adjuster on to a cam beside the cable. Revs go up massively with more than 1/4 CHOKE and you certainly know when to push it back in !!. Hope you are not on this Coke you keep mentioning, unless it is cola !!??
  5. I have not watched that whole video. But my experience is that full choke is only needed on a stone cold engine with Air temperature well below 10C. NO choke if engine is warm. Temps just now are circa 12-15 and my cold engine stars with 1/2 choke and straight in to 1/4. Remember if car stood for a day or two and you have a mechanical fuel pump, it can toke a dozen or two cranks to get fuel to the carb/s. If this is the situation, leave choke off until fuel through. If electric pump, listen and wait 'till pressurised. What is/was your problem with plugs?
  6. Now that's interesting Mathew. The sort of thing we should be aware of.
  7. Just as an aside, I had fun fitting some illuminated switches to my relay controlled accessories! Yes, they tell you the relay is powered up, but NOT if the accessory is on !!! ....you need a 2nd in line lamp to check power is flowing to the item. (Fog lamp, reversing light etc). Nightmare to do and a spiders web of wires
  8. No, not just you! I noticed it too. My problem is that I'm keener on keeping my battery alive than the girls must be an age thing???
  9. 👍Pete, that is my favourite too :)
  10. I had to put some E10 in the other day. Garage had no E5 and I was VERY low. Only a tenners worth but it made me think I should 'dilute it' with some E5. Then again, perhaps the stories of melted rubber were exaggerated??? I'll probably play safe and save up for £20 of E5 next month. that will be E6.7 then.?
  11. So, hot bulb normal ! Surprised they do not melt the plastic fittings nearby! Not got a 'smart' charger so should I give the battery some work to do and then recharge, or just let it sit?
  12. I bought a spare 12v battery as varta had a great deal on 3 months ago. It has been sat in the garage since. I thought it was time to check/recharge as necessary so put it on the bench and connected my charger...... It took 30 seconds for the charger to show a green light. Ahaa I said..... best give it something to do.... so , looked for some 12v accessories to run off it..... found my new windscreen washer set up with an electric pump (unfitted due to loss of dexterity in my fingers etc etc) It ran fine but after a minute I thought, hang on, I'll burn this out!! So..... found a spare 21w bulb and wired this up to do a bit discharge of the spare battery..... boy, did it get HOT just after a few seconds!! ? ... is this normal?. Anyway, decided it was too risky to leave it like that. Have you gurus any suggestions as to how I can keep this spare battery in tip top condition please?

  14. Sue, that last comment upsets me a bit! "Blokes moaning'. How many ladies post on here other than you? I may have missed them but ....? Actually, I see no 'moaning' just a bit of confusion re Google. The red star should be spaced a few lines down. Simples. enjoy
  15. I once had a lump of lead on a dog lead and I was in the lead when leading it down the lane Oh dear! I've flipped
  16. Pick it up for me then Pete??? I'll start bidding now! Not edited to say that I'm confused? Advert says unsold/removed ?? Price £850 ???
  17. Hmmm. Would cost me circa £500 to get it up here so its a no go. Eeeh well. Fancy a Vit 2l to play with really.
  18. I'd love that for my next project but....8hr drive . 320 miles away wonder what price he will get?
  19. I was 2 when she was crowned. A lifetime of dedication. Very sad loss. Oh god save the king. Charles 111.
  20. OK Kev. Cheers. If I do trawl through the unread posts, there will be nothing new! ?? Unless it is an old post resurrected
  21. OK guys and thanks. I'm a bit up and down just now but if I see a post that looks like it may get interesting, or provide useful information, I open the 'follow' box and ask for a daily email with a list of new replies. I used to get them Not had any for a few weeks so I have taken to all 'unread posts' but tend to run out of steam before the end on a busy day Hey ho. Seeing oncologist on 13th so maybe get treatment to help me concentrate more ATB. Jeff
  22. Does nobody use 'follow this post'? Or am I being ignored for some misdemeanor
  23. Are emails still being sent out when followed posts receive new content? I have them set up but not had any for weeks. I now need to search in 'recent posts' unread. Might be me brain still a bit 'fuzzy' !!
