  1. Not homemade, but maybe of use to someone...... for years I have always struggled to get a good seal on my grease gun, despite my best endeavours and using cloth over the grease-nipple I always seemed to get only 10% where it was intended and mess elsewhere! I spotted this on special offer a while ago on amazon, used it this afternoon and it was a revelation - all grease in the right place, job done in seconds. https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-COUPLER-Coupler-Lock-Clip-off-machine/dp/B0133NDH6E not cheap for what it is, but I suspect it will pay for itself in reduced grease consumption and fewer swear-box contributions! ....... 2. I don’t have a proper bench-vice either, but I do have a big variety of old bolts/washers and sockets that are used for pushing/pulling bushes. It isn’t ideal, but does manage to get most things sorted - although I do often resort to excessive blasphemy! well done for getting there! ........Andy
  3. Unless the car in question is being offered with a solid gold chassis i’d suggest they’ll be waiting a while to receive that kind of price! ...... Andy
  4. Quite right that some will value particular qualities in a different way than others, there is no right/wrong choice. The comment of being more prone to damage did make me smile though - they are not made of tin foil and Swiss cheese I think you’d get the same sized dent from whatever you hit regardless of which one you chose. ...... 5. Fortunately no electronics in a set of bumpers ...... Andy
  6. Nice job... fingers-crossed the sound will be to your liking..... my first car was a 13/60 with twin SU’s and 4-branch manifold, I used the TriumphTune wheelbarrow handle twin silencer system, I loved it but it did fail the MOT on excessive noise! A chat with Mr Hurrell and I replaced with the silencers with ‘acoustic tailpipes’ essentially some extra baffling. have fun ....... Andy
  7. No, Vietnam is where the Harrington supplied items are produced (I believe that Harrington supply all the UK retail outrages) ....... Andy
  8. I had a set on my old Stag, they were great, as a daily-driver the choice was simple because I didn’t want to be changing them again in 3 years. if I ever get around to changing them on my 4 I’d definitely go stainless steel. ...... Andy
  9. Yes, it is intended to identify the TSSC insurance panel member to send the valuation to directly (as well as sending it to you) , so I’d leave it blank if not using a panel member. ....... Andy
  10. The MOT extension will mean that people do not need to go to an MOT station to remain legally-mobile (assuming they are a key-worker it would have been considered an essential journey) thus there will be a reduction in possible transfer at MOT stations. Any reduction is a positive move, therefore i view this as a sensible choice. ..... Andy
  11. it is a sensible choice - yes, the MOT-testing stations are open, but this will reduce the number of people who need to enter these businesses thus further-restricting movement (getting the MOT test done is no longer essential) ....... Andy

    Head Fit!

all good advice.... be thankful you arn't doing a Stag ..... took me a month to get both heads off my old one. ....... Andy
  13. I would expect you to be able to get that information with a phone call or email to HQ. ...... Andy
  14. I had an IR one from Maplins which was pretty cheap but did the job nicely, when it gave up I bought one of those simple ones from eBay and it has been very good as well - even if it self-destructs in a couple of years you’ve not lost a huge investment! .....Andy
  15. When I discuss this subject with friends, the topic Is really split into two key areas ..... 1) if you choose an EV from a financial point of view (company car tax, your journeys suited to save fuel coast by running mostly on the batteries) then fill your boots but 2) don’t try and convince people that the manufacturing costs, mining conditions for workers, battery recycling and origin of that electricity are ticking all of the green boxes (currently) ....... 18. My grey-cells thought the same when I Saw this earlier ....... Andy
  19. I am a PJ customer, I did try and use their multi-car option when I was making use of another vehicle, but PJ insisted that the second vehicle was registered in my name (it was my daughters) so I didn’t peruse that path. Very happy with Annual premium and cover provided. i just get a couple of comparative quote each year to ensure they remain competitive. ....... Andy
  20. DU6’s were also used on some Jaguars and (I think) a Coventry Climax variant.... they were either on or off and didn’t prove very popular. They do look nice though ........ Andy
  21. His recent Facebook update states ‘voluntary liquidation’ with the business closing at the end of October. Wish him all the very best with his health. ...... Andy
  22. I agree the taps can seize, although just like any other valve, it tends to only be the case if they have not been used - I just flip mine open and closed a couple of times each year and it seems to do the job. ..... Andy
  23. All the work for recent engine rebuild on my 4 was undertaken by C+M..... just about everything positive from my seat, the only downside being a longer wait than I would have liked - but that isn’t unusual for places whose services are in high demand. ...... Andy

As you say, best option is rolling road with updates between runs to find the best advance curve for your engine. You could use a programmable 123tune, 16-pre-programmed curves or the more expensive fully-programmable ones (USB or Bluetooth) if you are paying by the hour for rolling road time, the second option could end up being more cost-effective. ...... Andy
  25. I have Magnecor on my 4, brought on a special offer for a couple of quid more than std. at the time, work fine but as mentioned, probably not worth paying a hefty premium for. ..... Andy
