  1. Just about to paint my mk3 gt6 in its original colour of Mimosa yellow. Would like opinions on which way to go as she is being restored to enter and hopefully win shows. Do I go with the 2 pack as the colour is a solid or do I go with a base coat and then Lacquer. Will not be doing her in cellulose before anyone suggests even though that would of been as per original. Thanks
  2. Thanks Pete, Jane might of sorted me out with the lights, but is it dosent work out thanks for the offer.
  3. Hi Jane, I'm in Lancashire not to far away I hope, thanks for all the advice but I want to keep with a dynamo as the car has been built to concourse, and so would also like to keep it to a sealed beam unit. Have found a classic motor bike place that has a 5 3/4 sealed beam with the three prongs which where used on old triumphs, bsa ect is there any reason why I couldn't use this.
  4. Thanks Tom, how will I find out the original lights produced.
  5. I require a 5 3/4 sealed beam outer headlamp and a round knobed choke cable with Knob ( No wise remarks please ) Does any one know wether the sealed unit from the Dolomite will fit. If you havent the parts I require any help on where to look or if you know anyone it would be a great help. One more question, will the dynamo which is the 40L version be able to cope if I replaced the lights to Halogen ones. Thanks again for any help.
  6. dougbgt6 Sorry if I misunderstood you ,Thanks for letting me know.
  7. Thanks dougbgt6, The first part of your response was very helpful the second just sarcastic. Colin Thank you, just makes me really mad when people take the michael.
  8. When is this forum going to come into the 21st century ? I HAVE JUST TRIED TO GIVE A WARNING OUT TO MEMBERS ABOUT PROBLEMS I HAD USING A TRADER ON E-BAY. Every other forum/club of which I have been a member and there has been many being a fan and owner of many different classic cars, allows its members to warn/tell other members of there experiences good and bad when dealing with traders and this of course means saying who they are. Keeping it private does no one any good, would my post been removed if I was singing the praises of this or any other trader. I THINK NOT
  9. The car is know in paint along with the chassis, excuse the dust over the car and she is in damson even though some of the pics look a different shade this is due to the light. Hope you like let me know.
  10. Hi, Does anyone in the North West own a show winning Vitesse Convertible that I could possibly come and have a look at, I am in the process of having mine restored as you can see in the album section and would like to see what standard I should expect to reach. Thanks ps I am a member of the club not just some guy wanting to scout out a classic. If you need confirmation of this pm me.
  11. Thanks for the advice Colin, this will be great if correct I. will have a look at a v5 and see if there is anything on it.
  12. Looking for information, I have been offered another vitesse but the engine ID number does not match the v5. The number on the engine is a HC number so is a correct engine for the vitesse. How would I change this on the v5 document as I cant prove when the change was done even though it is a correct engine but from another car. Any advice would be gratefully received.
  13. Did the vitesse convertible come with an option to have a hard top. I have a hard top but dont know if it was for a herald or vitesse.
  14. Thanks for the comments, Had a chat with the very skilled man ( stewart ) who is doing the restoration for me ( this skill of fabrication is well beyond my skill set ) and to date there has been over 200 hrs of work. This has and still is one massive project and I have to be grateful that he is a friend other wise the budget would have been blown out of the water. Will upload more pics as they happen.
  15. Hi All, I have just created an album in the Gallery which shows some of the work that has been done up to date. The restoration started mid Nov 14 and the car was a non runner. The photo in the Album is of a car that looks like what my car looked like before she was sent away. She is a mk1 2ltr and the original colour was Damson which is what I intend for her to go back to. As you will see every bit of rot has been replaced with new metal only the rear wings where bought in all other panels where hand made, we went this root so a better grade of metal could be used and there would be less issues of bad fitting as they where made to the right size in the first place. You will notice the extra metal plates on the chassis, some cowboy had tried to restore the car before and when putting the car back together must of realised nothing would fit right, the remedy was to raise the centre of the car so the doors would align properly. They then went to work with the filler which in places was 10mm thick. All the welding is now done so chassis is off to the sand blasters then will be repinted and built back up using new parts where needed, other wise clean and paint existing parts. Engine will be stripped down and rebiult as required. Let me know what you think. http://forum.tssc.org.uk/index.php?/gallery/album/67-vitesse-1/
