  1. We then still see the reply from which said person has upset He is on my ignore button, but i try to keep out of these things which is why i don't visit often. Alf.
  2. Try hand cleaner or a few squirts of elbow grease Jeff. It will get it off your hood and seats as well. Alf.
  3. You get some four letter words in the "joke" section Iain that would ruin the joke otherwise. Four letter words can be really funny or down right terrible depending on context. Just my take on the subject. Most of the banter on here is great some is patronising and rude..... that i don't like. Alf.
  4. That time of the month again i think Badwolf....... Alf
  5. Aah you must have strayed onto the "other" site Cliff. Alf.
  6. CLASSIC ENGINE OIL : Product Information: GOLDEN FILM 20W-50 Classic Motor Oil Description: Golden Film SAE 20W-50 Classic Motor Oil is specialist high quality, low detergent/dispersant multigrade lubricant. This oil is suitable for use in naturally aspirated four stroke petrol and diesel engines. Applications: Golden Film SAE 20W-50 Classic Motor Oil is recommended for use in veteran, classic and vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles and tractors, where engine design and tolerances prohibit the use of modern high additive level oils. Golden Film SAE 20W-50 Classic Motor Oil is a low dispersant oil and allows any solid contaminants to drop harmlessly into the sump. This is an important feature where early methods of oil filtration, such as mesh gauzes or strainers are fitted. The multigrade properties of Golden Film SAE 20W-50 provide improved cold start circulation This is what happens on older engines Dave. Alf
  7. Just thinking that myself, good radios those Mathew. Even better if the cassette still works. Alf
  8. Store the tin upside down Badwolf, it wont skin over because its air tight. I store all my paints this way. Alf
  9. Do you have a load sensing valve on the rear Dave? I had the very same problem on a mk1 Fiesta. Replaced that and all was well. I couldn't even find anything wrong with it........ Someone said fit a new one and it sorted it. Alf.
  10. Drop the tickover and leave to tickover for a few seconds before turning off Mathew. My 2000 did that until i had it ticking over at 600 rpm. No problems since. Alf.
  11. https://www.balljointboots.co.uk I use these people Jeff, They last longer than the ones on new joints. Alf.

    DVLA

You could send it back to the DVLA and fill it out that you have sold it to someone you don't like Alf.
  13. Paddocks are always very good if a part is not right and are grateful to people pointing it out. I would phone them and send it back. Alf.

  15. Very well done, excellent work. Alf.
  16. https://www.bastuck.de/gb/neuer-bastuck-katalog-fuer-triumph-spitfire-gt6-herald-und-vitesse-verfuegbar-2/ You might get more sense out of Bastuck themselves rather than the usual reply from Rimmers. Alf.
  17. Thank you Tom, i will let you all know how i get on. It wont be until probably April/May when the lockdown has settled. Then hopefully get kickdown sorted Alf.
  18. Thanks Richard, i saw your post and rang them again a while ago and got through. You were right about them being helpful, it was a good job that i didn't run to far without the cable as it can damage the box. Upshot is that the problem i have sounds likely to be adjustment probably of the kickdown cable and he will remove the ferule and start again. So once we can move around again i will take it to them and let them sort it out for me Thank you again. Alf.
  19. My mother was ripped off by Kwik Fit a couple of years ago after getting a puncture almost outside a branch. In she went and came out with 4 new tyres and two new front shock absorbers. Luckily she went straight round to her local garage who had serviced it only 3 weeks before. They complained on her behalf to trading standards who took up the case as there was nothing wrong with the shocks or tyres and had done less than a hundred miles since. The result was a full refund of the Kwik Fit invoice. So looks like most people are of the same opinion, dont go near them as they have no morals. Alf.
  20. Hi Pete, the manual is heavy reading as you say but i can't really find anywhere that says for certain it would be ok for the kickdown to remain disconnected. Bit of a strange one really. I have tried phoning the people that Richard kindly gave me the info for, but as yet i can't get through to them..... They might be closed because of furlough. But i will keep you posted if anything happens. Thank you both again. Alf.
  21. Thanks Pete, manual arrived this morning and i see what you mean A blue hardback that will need plenty of tea. Only had to pay in tea and biscuits a well, so very pleased. Will report back. Thanks again. Alf
  22. Hi Richard, thank you for your input and i will certainly give them a ring and see what they have to say. They are also closer than Bristol I will of course let you know how i get on, but it will be Monday before i get chance to phone them as i guess they won't be working weekends. Alf.
  23. Hi Pete, a friend is dropping me a genuine Triumph manual at the weekend as i have only got the autodata one. He said there is a lot about them in it, so i will let you know how i get on. so thank you again. Alf.
  24. Yes it is a 35 Pete. I have gone though the oil level check method, hot in park and after running through each gear... Without the cable attached it performs perfectly. I would leave it off but i don't want to destroy the box unless i know it's safe to do so. Even the oil is nice and clean with no nasty smell to it. Bristol is a bit to far Anglefire Thank you both for your help, if you here of anything? Can you let me know. Alf.
